Do you pay your preceptors and how much$$
This is a great question, one I am often asked. Many preceptors want a fee for their time. Around here it can be anywhere from $500 to $1500 per semester. I am fortunate in that my school will pay preceptors a very small hourly stipend, however, I am prepared to make up the difference out of my own pocket for their full fees.
Wow, what a great video. Thank you. So much information. This is my dream scenario, being a Psych NP student. I am a 48 year old male, in LPN school and graduating in 5 weeks time. Pursuing my RN once I get my LPN license. I often feel like I started too late and wont be able to make it to NP. It's pretty scary being so much older than all the other students, and being a male as well. Feel a bit out of place at times. Glad I found this channel!
Haha! I was, and still am, the oldest in my nursing school cohort. Age is only a number and does not have to be a state of mind. You can do this!! Please join our community (link in the description and comments) and keep me posted as to your progress.

Hi! I’m almost where you are in your journey. I’m also a long time ED RN turned psych RN that withdrew from PMHNP school and am re-enrolling. I was a class away from starting my clinicals but had too much going on at home. I am still worried about the stress of getting through it all, but I’m gonna keep trying!!
You can do this. It is a lot of moving parts, but so worth it. Prepare your family and friends in advance about the change (temporary!) to your life. Also consider cutting back a shift (or two) each week if you can swing it. I know that is not possible for everyone. When do you start back in school?
You have a lot going on!!! Very busy! I’m currently an SFNP and am busy but not as busy as you and I am struggling with staying afloat! And I didn’t realize that we have exams during our clinical rotations. But it makes sense. This was an amazing video! You give me hope!!!! Thanks for sharing! You give me hope! I am glad the information was helpful, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! I am attending a program through a state university here in Tennessee. It is mostly asynchronous and we do attend various events and evaluations on campus throughout the program. Regarding clinical sites, I used LinkedIn to find preceptors and sites. It leverages multi-modal and spaced repetition techniques to increase retention and reduce learning time.
