But he's not a killer. I think Rom wins due to his alliance with Mencken. I do agree with you though. Of the three, Ken has moments that look like empathy and collaboration. He is also open to the possibility that people have agency and might say one thing and do another. He might just be doing it to get what he wants, but he does seem capable of engendering some small amount of loyalty. (The "set you up with my watch guy" thing was likely due to his entitlement.) That's been one of her worst qualities thru the whole show (in terms of business), she is bad at lying. Next would be that she is bad at negotiating. This Greg thing happened because she did the same thing as when Roman and Connor asked what do they get for putting names on the publicly trashing Ken letter and she just said that they are babies and didn't negotiate. Then add to that her business knowledge is maybe the worst. She didn't agree to go into Shanghai, even when fast-tracked she left the Waystar most of the times or read magazines because she is lazy and felt entitled and beneith her to learn the basics by Frank teaching her. Even Roman started from the basics and started to build from there. Like sure Shiv might be the smartest but she has way too much to learn and she wants the top position immidiatelly without much work.

She is not as smart as she thinks she is. She just pretends that she is smart but nobody takes her seriously and everyone used her.
In all 4 seasons of the show, everyone is using her in some kind of way for their own grand plans.
Tom, her husband is using her, Her Dad is using her when he feels he needs her, The socialist politician Gil used her to stick it to her dad, The Swedish guy used her.
At the end she ended up with no power because she never deserved it.

Its clear to me that Kendall knew something was up with Shiv so he set her up by asking her to call Nate and see if she'd actually do that. He couldve just called Nate himself and he'd always pick up the phone since they were old pals and used to "run around shanghai together". And that was why he and Roman asked Shiv to invite Nate to the tailgate party and not did it himself and to their 'surprise', Matsson showed up too, conveniently just in time for the party. It takes about 9hrs direct flight from Stockholm to NY, so the timing tracked that Matsson flew as soon as they informed Shiv the decision to go regulatory during breakfast that day. Furthermore, Kendall asked Greg a seemingly simple question regarding Shiv and Matsson. Hence the 'goose trying to sh*t a house brick' confirming he's had suspicions that Shiv was working with Matsson. This is their Michael-Fredo "I knew it was you" scene.

Shiv is always is one small step away from triumph, blocked by her own sheer arrogance and total lack of self-awareness. Nate knew what she was up to, all she had to do was call him and ask him to corroborate if he got a follow-up call!
Also, the writing team obviously based much of this episode on the current political climate, but I found this scene in particular to be perfectly representative. The Republicans are still that Simpson's meme "We're just plain evil!". The Democrats too operate entirely out of their own self-interests and thirst for power, but if you stop to question whether your interests are included in those, it's instant pearl clutching as Shiv pulls out here. a fantastic scene. Also this is where I did not root for anyone. They are all humongously flawed people. This scene was written to remind us of that before we got too attached. Shiv wanting a non fascist but also to be a power player at gojo waystar, Roman sacrificing the country for his bid to be CEO, Kendall sacrificing the country for his bid to be ceo and then simultaneously saying eff you to his children like his Dad, the poison indeed drips through. Connor’s wife trading in her principles for the perks of ambassadorship. This episode was the ramifications of the selfishness of the players involved. When you have a crazy guy like Matson shocked at how crazy the situation is then you know it was effen crazy. Also look at Greg smashing the knowledge wine bottle like Tom said at Shiv. I thought episode 3 of this season could not be topped but I am wrong. So far this frenetic episode topped it.

The biggest testament to the performances, especially by the lead actors in these last few episodes is that we don’t actually miss Logan’s presence. He feels present through his kids. Kendall even mentions it when he’s being honest that maybe it passes down and he’ll be like his dad. Great writing amazing performances awesome show

I love this scene so much. Shiv's little "don't call him!", then the violins start, Roman's talking shit at her but she's trying to look like she's not paying attention to Ken as he discovers her lie. And finally the "ohhhh fuck" on her face when she sees him talking to Greg. Lol. Throughout the series Shiv is treated like a little girl, and you're kind of like "that's not fair" then she pulls some shit like this and you're like "this is exactly how a little girl would act". Roman's reaction is excellent too. He has two serious moments in this episode; one when he hears that somebody pushed Ken's daughter, and the other when he hears that Shiv is working for Matsson. He's angry and hurt, but he'll worry about it later, because he has a fascist to install in the whitehouse.

Kendall is NOT a good person and part of the whole show was about showing that. I think we have a natural tendency to try to idebtify with a hero, whoch is why so many people still idolized Walter White when he did the most heinous unforgiveable shit. Kendall didn’t miss out on his happy ending because he was a good guy who got betrayed by his family. He missed out because he was an arrogant, pathetic, morally bankrupt and inept asshole and loser who only cared about succeeding, and those traits didn’t protect him from Shiv’s equally reprehensible arrogance, jealousy and spite. He sold his soul to win, and became his father (but with none of his father’s successful qualities and competence). He sold his soul as a father and chose the top job instead, he sold his soul as a man and sold his country to a maniac. All so he could have a job he would have been terrible at, as evidenced by every season of the show. Any time he had a win he royally fucked it up because he’s a goof and a loser.
The show unequivocally said ‘this is not a good man’ when he chose to back Menken knowing what it would mean for his kids. His own ego was more important.
Logan had ego, and sacrificed being a good father for his ambition. But logan was competent.
Looking at the way Kendall became an arrogant, bumbling fool and asshole when he was winning (immediately after he publicly went after his Dad at the end of season 2) and the way he treated people around him… this is not a man who would have been any better even if he won. Kendall was even worse when he was winning.

Did you guys notice at 1:27 in the video, Shiv’s eyes bug out when Kendall said he was going to call Nate? I laughed so hard! Lol! Did she honestly think he wouldn’t call himself to get answers?
