I'm amazed at how many people seem to miss that none of Logan's children are "worse" than the other. They are all shades of the man's worst characteristics. The tragedy isn't that none of them become CEO. The tragedy is in the swimming and the kitchen, where we see that they could have truly been a family that loved and supported one another except for one problem: They're Logan Roy's kids.

Just the fact that he promised the company leadership role to all three of them at different points in their lives--he wanted them to be at one another's throats. If he had just been clear in his will that he wanted it to go from eldest to youngest, or that he wanted all three to run it together and vote on things when they disagreed, or that he wanted the company sold immediately and for each of them to profit equally, it would have saved them all some grief. What's really interesting about Roman in this scene is at 4:16, when Kendall is attacking him, he doesn't make any attempt to defend himself. Roman keeps his arms at his side while Kendall is tearing at his face, but as soon as Kendall shoves Shiv, Roman springs into action to protect her. This is learned helplessness, where an abused child doesn't defend himself because he feels powerless against his abuser (first his father, now his older brother), but finds strength to protect someone else that they perceive is more vulnerable. Very subtle and well done, in keeping with what we know about this toxic family.

I think is hilarious that Roman also realized Kendall lost it and sided with Shiv in the end.
His final words of them being bullshit were so true, Roman was never a serious person and he knew that but he also only wanted to be on top because of his father, him coming to terms that he can live free and without the pretense of it while also realizing putting Kendall on top would just make him go through "Logan Roy" again probably made everything more clear for him, he left the series drinking a martini and what it seemed like a shitton of emotions in one second, but mainly one of relief
Kendall on the other hand is probably the worse case in the end, him being prepared since he was 7 to take the company and basically making it all of his life and failing is the biggest tragedy in the show, he wasnt bargaining and begging for power and money, he was ultimately begging for finally having a reason to exist, it actually changes the whole show and it made so much sense why he could never just do other stuff like Roman, Shiv and Connor did with theirs, even after every public stunt and drama he caused, he always only wanted one thing, to be the CEO
Logan literally ruined his favorite and most beloved son by giving him a life mission that now he will never be able to achieve, he groomed Kendall into being a king and now theres no kingdom anymore, he was left with only the riches hes always had so in the end he truly was left with nothing to live for

Even in this scene (arguably the climax of the entire show!!), Roman reveals that Kendall may or may not be infertile, and that Logan told Roman he didn’t think Kendall should take over because his kids are illegitimate. (Doesn’t matter if it’s true, this just hammers in the point that Logan never thought Kendall should take over) Another piece of information that’s revealed earlier this episode is that when Kendall is 7 years old, Logan promised him the company. It takes balls to hold onto information about characters like that until the literal very end, and it’s moments like that that are going to make rewatches of this show even better. Absolute Kino, absolute gold. This show is everything

That's the nature of Kendall's character:
Every time they make Kendall is on fire and almost gets what he wants, he always fails because he's always shooting himself in the foot. His insecurity and childishness is his true enemy. Not his siblings, not his dad, not Mattson, not Tom but it's himself.
Tom even told him that he's always fail.
Also, it's ironic that Kendall is the eldest of the 3 but he's also the most childish of them all. They are all still childish and immature but Kendall is always double down everything by showing how childish and immature he is. On that room with transparent glass, he was the only one who raised his voice, screamed and yelled and begged like a child! Also, his siblings are terrified and confused because how unhinged he is. And the fact that he has an audicity to go back to adjourn the meeting only for Frank said that it's 7-6 for Gojo Deal and leave the building like a true sore loser is his final nail in the coffin.

Glad that you used "strong armed her into voting Kendall's way." Shiv is probably used to it from her older brothers and was sick of it. No, I don't think so. Ever since Logan told her she could be the one, Shiv's ego grew to the size of Jupiter. When she initially accepted to back Kendall she was doing as a coping technique. A sort of "I'm still on top of this so out of sight, out of mind". When the time came Shiv couldn't do it since she thinks that means she lost to her brother. It's like the two of them wanted to play with the same toy and she destroyed it so neither can have it.

Logan's quote is his philosophy, his life experience, but's not applicable to everyone. Kendall has prove himself near the end that he can play killer if he really want to, but unlike Logan who has nearly perfect track record, he has plenty vulnerabilities that people can exploit, and his decision-making is much too impaired by his narcissism and impatience. If he wants to follow Logan advise to "be a killer", he has always have been a killer, which he isn't. He had a bit of time when he was finding his own way, trying to find and make his own advantages shine (they landed the deal with PGN from his final call), but then Logan's draft will was discovered and once again he go back to Logan's failing advise.

The point is he FELT responsible because it was a death that could have been prevented had he made better judgement: not seeking drug the night before a big show, not DUI, not putting the waiter in backseat, etc. But he couldn't see it coming anyway, but he always made bad decisions (the waiter asked what if he really want to kidnap him, because Ken was in very vulnerable position that night).
But no, the point of the kid's death is that it brings out the human in people. If you're walking on the street and push someone to the side because they're in your way, and right after that a rock fall from the construction site above and kil them, you will feel awful if not outright traumatic. It's not your fault but you were a contributor to situation that leads to their death, and also they die right in front of your face. And Ken, he has humanity, more than Logan ever did. The rest of them see that as NRPI, and in extent we as audience see it like that too because character isn't real, but Ken is definitely fked up from that. Yet, every single time he had a glimsp, a promise of the sit, he goes into this Logan mode and just disregard all the humanity in him.
