It was more difficult actually reaching Miraak than fighting him.
Hardest enemy is still the massive ice giant guy.. he uses frost so you'd never think he'd be the strongest.. but..

To be honest, Miraak feels more like a final boss than Alduin. This is not because of difficulty. Miraak feels more like an antagonist with his well character development. Duel of two powerful dragonborns - this is what we really need in Skyrim.

This fight was so much more dramatic for me. The music was epic, the dragons chimed in, shouts were everywhere, he used far more spells, it was just so much more satisfying. I dunno why your fight with him is so much more boring.

this is supposed too be a battle of thu'um, I don't think your making the most of the opportunity.. consider this:
1- get the talos blessing (-20% shout cooldown).
2: talos amulet (-20% shout cooldown)
3- dragon aspect shout (-20% shout cooldown) ---------> total -60% shout cooldown
4- if you are a vampire and acquired the restoration perk ''necromage'' -----> total -75% shout cooldown.
5- unlock as many shouts as you can manage and wait till you level up to about 80 to really take your time in the fight and enjoy the fight and dialogue and everything.
6- now enjoy the thu'um battle as its meant to be ;)
Actually, you're wrong about the total cool down. Percentages aren't added. For example, if we started off with a 100 second cool down, 20% off would be 80 seconds. Then from the 20% reduction from 80 seconds we would get 64 seconds, and lastly we would get 51.2 seconds. The percentage total you said would only come from all three percentage reductions being combined in one blessing, which they aren't.
I only explained for the 60% cool down reduction, so my calculations excluded the total 75% reduction, bit the same rules still apply.

Miraak is one of my favourite antagonists ever. I just really like the character and his lore
I wanted to write a fanfiction of an alternate ending, one where he finally escapes apocrypha and begins to take over Skyrim while the last Dragonborn is on his quest to take out Alduin.
So when the last Dragonborn returnes back to tamreial, he finds that skyrim is being ruled by miraak along with his cultists, using the forbidden knowledge of apocrypha to make the people bend to his will.
And just like the Earth stones on Solstheim, all the standing stones in Skyrim have been corrupted under miraak's control to have an direct connection to apocrypha like on solthshime.
Then, it is now a precedent that the last Dragonborn fights Miraak with his New Found army of dragons on his side to fight the last Dragonborn in a final Conflict.
That's a much better story than what we got in the Dragonborn storyline.
And perhaps the reason why the last Dragonborn went to fight Alduin first was because he was a larger direct threat.
And the first Dragonborn took advantage of this and took over Skyrim, Solstheim, while the last Dragonborn was within soverngard to defeat Alduin.
And who knows, maybe they fight at Labyrinthian and Paarthurnax dies in battle as he is on the last dragonborns side.
Then the blades begin to realize, because Paarthurnax dies, the Dragonborn needs their help more than ever, which causes them to join the last Dragonborn on his quest to defeat Miraak and his army of dragons.
I have thought about this as a fan fiction for a while now. And I have written it many different ways, just like original Bethesda used to with alternate endings, this is but one of many endings depending upon the choices that the last Dragonborn makes.

to further explain how Miraak took hold over skyrim, it wasn't that he was faster, it was that time on nirn flows faster while the last dragonborn is within sovengard, so the dragonborn only experienced a day passing depending on how long the battle within sovengard lasted, but on nirn, time passes in years, so realistically Miraak had years while everyone within nirn prayed for the last dragonborn to return to nirn, the civil war was prevented due to Miraaks control over the population as many solders found him to be impossible to kill as Miraak would bend them to his will, so the solders on both sides became the new cultists and took over most of the cities within skyrim, the mages guild were able to keep Miraak at bay, however their control was waning and was constantly being attacked by the dragons under Miraaks control.
while a smaller faction of the mages were tasked by the auger of dunlain that sarthal was hiding something with immense power that could help turn the tide with their fight against Miraak and his army of cultist's and dragons, but they had to reach sarthal through the midden as it was their only way out of the collage that wouldn't arise suspicion when they moved through the night.
this is when the last dragonborn shows up back on nirn and was teleported on the top of the throat of the world, even though the dragonborn defeat alduin and made a few friends along the way, it wasn't enough to fight Miraak, as Parthanax explained that he tried to get the dragons on his side, but one by one they ended up serving Miraak as his voice was too strong, it could have effected Parthanax as well if it wasn't for his training in the way of the voice he was more resistant to Miraaks bend will shout, but it almost broke him when he realized he needed to flee from the battle as he might be consumed to the bend will shout if he stayed any longer.
Parthanax explained that the blades were taken over by Miraak and his armys, and that delphene and esbern were now under his control, but Parthanax issued a warning that it would be impossible to get to solsthime by any normal means as he could easily be spotted within any of the towns or cities and that it would be better if he hitched a ride with patthanax to solsthime where he could get in contact with a telivani wizard who knows how to help the last dragonborn as he has been within a sunkin dwemer city called nachardac, away from the prying eyes of Miraaks forces and has found that a certain black book that was lost to the ages is responsible for Miraaks power.

I never did finish this story, but I'm glad to see other people are into it, it's hard to Garner support for writing something when a lot of people aren't really into it. I still love this story that I wrote, and it can always be further expanded on, but I also wanted to perhaps get the help of other writers to make a joint created story just for the fun of it.
I'm not the most experienced writer in the world, I have a lot of great ideas for a story, but I don't always have the greatest track record when it comes to finishing a story unfortunately.
But I'm glad that you are interested enough to want to read the rest of my fanfiction story.

she stacked up on potions, and ofc u can stack on shock resistance. plus this is on legendary.. i think if u didnt stack up and just fought him with base stats and equipment, she would've been fucked from the start of the fight
this can't be legendary...
He stacked on alchemy potions and smithing to create near immortal armor and weapons. 565 was what you need to reach the armor cap. he has 17xx+

Miraak has to be one of the most annoying bosses ive ever defeated in battle, it almost took me an hour and a half to kill him. My dogs were also part of the problem, they wanted to go to the bathroom every 20 min

I beat him at lvl 39 in 1 run maybe 20 min or less.

I really hate Hermaeus Mora, he forces people to serve him then he destroys them, like the same thing he did to Septimus Signus, how does he want people to serve him when he kills the people who are serving him

it would be pretty much impossible to kill hermaeus mora even if the dragonborn and miraak fought alongside mainly because he doesn't have a physical body and is in control of apocrypha so he could just teleport the 2 into the acid water. also the other daedra would probably get mad

Dagon was the same way and you couldn't kill him in the last elder scrolls. Can't truly kill a deadric lord

So from Dragonborn DLC, we come to find out the fate of the Dragonborn. Hermaeous Mora likely takes our draognborn as his faithful champion amongst Apocrypha. To see out all the knowledge the Daedric Prince desires. While it may not fit our mind on our Character's canon story. We do see an example of what may happen to the dragonborn in later Elder Scrolls games.
The Dragonborn, slayer of Alduin, The Guardian of the Dawn, and now Faithful of Hermaeus Mora. We may see the Dragonborn referenced in later stories of the canon feats of the game. Or have a chance to even see the Dragonborn if we meet Hermaeous Mora.

I'll take it that the Dragonborn's soul is best fitted to whomever he was more involved with. Since you get two quests for Hermaeous Mora. From the Black Books of Solstiem, to the Book of Bound Flesh. Twice you interact with this Daedra.

Well from an RP perspective when you only play one or two factions you'll end up deing chained to a daedra especially if you didn't became Dragonborn in order to avoid those annoying lizards because your build is usuited for dragon fighting. But from the view of a character which have completed several or all of the faction questchains it will seem more like "finally my time reached it's end... but where the hell should I go? Fellowship of Sovngarde... enjoyment of silent murder on the side of the Night Mother... Nocturnal's boobs... Hircine's Hunting Grounds... infinite knowledge in Apocrypha... Nocturnal's boobs..."... what a huge dilemma...

The point of the questline was to save Kodlak's spirit from getting to Hircine's Hunting Grounds since he wished for the "fellowship of Sovngarde". As it turned out all the former harbingers since the one who accepted the beastblood had this very same problem and they were hiding in the Tomb of Ysgramor from Hircine.
Well still your soul will be reserved for Hircine IF you decided to keep your Lycantropy but... let's be honest Beast Form is not as great anyway...

I feel bad for Miraak in a way lol... blinded by his own power and ambitions yet to see the truth in betraying a Daedra god... we'll I wouldn't mind betraying them myself except a few that are good using their artefacts in my own way to bring good ( my gameplay ) but I as dovahkiin am a champion of the Aedra and in the end Dovahkiin will go to them and Hermenus Mora knows that very well. in the end we helped him twice in skyrim.

Huh, a lot of comments saying this must be cheating, or this can't be Legendary. You're neglecting to consider a few factors. One, this character has already completed the main quest of Skyrim. Two, you can make any character OP by maxing the 3 crafting skills. Three, several quests on Solstheim allow you to enhance your crafting skills even further. It's possible to get nearly 4,000 damage on a custom weapon without the use of exploits.
Every time I've fought Miraak on Legendary, he barely put a dent on me. I would hit him once or twice and he would flee to replenish his health. This actually makes the fight easier, because it gives you a pretty lengthy break in between rounds to heal and recast your buffs. You can beat him using one-handed, two-handed, archery, spells (with patience) or werewolf form. I'm not sure if the vampire lord is a viable strategy though, because I haven't tested it yet.
i'm just wondering which solstheim quests allow you to improve your gear even more.
i'm quite curious now.
+Sir. Derpenstein. You'll want to complete the following quests:
* Unearthed, to get Ahzidal's equipment.
* The Black Book: The Sallow Regent, found in White Ridge Barrow.
* Served Cold (which has 2 prerequisite quests) to get Severin Manor, the best place for enchanting.
* The Throat of the World in the main Skyrim quest, to get the Notched Pickaxe.
Also, be sure to stock up on potions that fortify Destruction (to boost your elemental damage enchantments) fortify your weapon skill of choice, and resist magic and shock. Miraak fights like a spellsword, but his armor and melee damage are relatively weak. His damageresist actor value is 300, which will only stop 36% of the physical damage you throw at him. His shouts are easy to dodge, and his main offensive spell is Sparks.

With your stats, armor, and weapon, something like this wild not be hard at all. It's like killing a bandit with the same stats as you. It's not too hard lol. Do something like this with a really strong target, like korstagg or whatever his name was. Something along those lines.

Best Skyrim DLC hands down for me
I was Lvl.81 when I killed Miraak, and just kept using Marked For Death (fully upgraded) shout at him, and it became a piece of cake, and it was on Legendary difficulty, best fight I have played, very fun!

Federal agent Holton Yeah my miraak sword has 401 damage with no cheats and it can be even higher if you want to. I have 104% more 1 handed damage on my armor, used smithing potions to make it better while wearing smithing enchanted armor. Without any of those you can only get it to 70-80 damage

So when the last Dragonborn returnes back to tamreial, he finds that skyrim is being ruled by miraak along with his cultists, using the forbidden knowledge of apocrypha to make the people bend to his will.
And just like the Earth stones on Solstheim, all the standing stones in Skyrim have been corrupted under miraak's control to have an direct connection to apocrypha like on solthshime.
Then, it is now a precedent that the last Dragonborn fights Miraak with his New Found army of dragons on his side to fight the last Dragonborn in a final Conflict.
That's a much better story than what we got in the Dragonborn storyline.
And perhaps the reason why the last Dragonborn went to fight Alduin first was because he was a larger direct threat.
And the first Dragonborn took advantage of this and took over Skyrim, Solstheim, while the last Dragonborn was within soverngard to defeat Alduin.
And who knows, maybe they fight at Labyrinthian and Paarthurnax dies in battle as he is on the last dragonborns side.
Then the blades begin to realize, because Paarthurnax dies, the Dragonborn needs their help more than ever, which causes them to join the last Dragonborn on his quest to defeat Miraak and his army of dragons.
I have thought about this as a fan fiction for a while now. And I have written it many different ways, just like original Bethesda used to with alternate endings, this is but one of many endings depending upon the choices that the last Dragonborn makes.
Hardest part of this fight is controlling that dragon to where his going.
Something a bit funny to me to think about is that according to Hermaeus Mora, nothing can be hidden from him, but the fact that Skyrim is a game and you are the player technically gives your Dragonborn certain types of power that’ll most likely stay unmentioned, such as hiding thoughts from mora, time travel, ultimate free will (the beginning of A Night To Remember doesn’t count), and long-distance teleportation

I defeated miraak at level 30 sure he was hard cause the bastard kept useing the dragons souls to heal himself but I did it took a little while tho bout 10 mins
Try fighting him at level 1, that's always fun.
I did that in one play through, and every time he defeated me I was kicked out of apocrypha to lick my wounds, only to come back stronger every time, until eventually I killed him.
But man oh man did it take some doing.

How did you get the dragonslayer quest to start? I've tried multiple times and it never did! What do you have to do to start it?
BlackPanthers For the Dragonborn quest to begin, you need the DLC. If you have it, after you first go to the Greybeard and return to a town, two cultists will go up and attack you. One of them has a letter. Upon reading this tells you to go to Solsthiem. Go there and the quest line begins. But it's been like a month since this was first commented so I'm probably late

I just beat Miraak at level 30 with an archery class. Note to all those snipping classes out there… DON’T USE A LOW LEVEL BOW.
The only way I was able to defeat Miraak was scrapping the archer build I adored, and trying to make due with what little spells I had

When I got to this city to find Miraak, I had great difficulty beating anything (this is before I became a vampire lord). Even the bugs would kill me. After dying like 5 times by the hand of a monster made up of flames, I gave up & went back to Skyrim. Finding Miraak is not that important to me
mine is like glitched, and when miraak absorbs the dragon he stays in his ghost like form forever and ive tried reloading, exiting game and reloading. nothing works.
I did get it working, I found a video that showed me a couple tricks. x.x

That's a mod, Lemme guess you had to use the "Bend will" shout on miraak several times before spending like 10 minutes fighting of seekers and Lurkers sent by herma Mora to stop you from escaping Apocrypha.

Marco Vaz Yeah that's a mod, You get Miraak as a follow afterward and a shout to summon the dragons that were in Apocrypha, If I remember correctly. I had that mod for a little bit until my skyrim decided to be a milk drinker and refused to run making me delete 70 of my mods.

Also,you can try this..Click on one of the dragons while in console,type 'kill' then kill the next 2...when you kill all,Miraak should come out of his 'Ethereal Form'

Thanks but I already figured it out. I decided to just take out my frustration on the three dragons before even touching Miraak and it worked. Still, it really gets me annoyed that Bethesda didn't even bother trying to fix this problem. It completely ruined the boss for me.

Hint: use a mace. A fully-upgraded mace with all the perks will bypass armor and deal full damage. Power attacks with maces will eat away whole chunks of his health, EVEN IN LEGENDARY. That's how I easily beat him. It got so bad that the fight would glitch because I would deal so much damage to him, when he absorbs dragon souls, it does not fully heal him, and he doesn't come out of the ethereal phase because of it. I had to watch myself and make sure I didn't do too much damage lest I glitch the fight and force me to restart. The only thing to watch out for is his fire breath shout, and that can be nullified if you use wards or Spellbreaker.

Magic damage like ICE, FIRE, LIGHTNING and MAGIC completely IGNORE armor.
It doesn't matter if you have 1000 armor or 0. Armor affects your PHYSICAL damage reduction only.
Magic damage can only be reduced by ICE, FIRE, LIGHNING, MAGIC resistance and MAGIC ABSORBTION.
He doesn't get much damage from magic attacks because he has high resistance.
50% frost resist(racial), 54% fire resist(boots), 54% lightning resist(boots).
45% magic resist(agent of mara passive+magic resistance perk 3/3)
30% magic absorbtion(atronach perk).
The elemental resistance the magic resist and the absorbtion decrease the damage separately. So the lightning resist make the damage taken 46% the magic resist makes it 25.3% and the absorbtion makes it 17.71%. That's pretty much 82-83% lightning damage blocked from Miraak's spell.

Also his gear isn't "exploited". This is made with 100 enchanting smithing and alchemy. It was obviously not made with the fortify restoration potion glitch his numbers aren't that high.

does anyone know of any consequences with hermaeus mora in the future, after this quest? frea warns you after the fight to not let him use you, does he ever actually try to do this? i can't think of an instance.
All I did was war a set of armor with one handed attack with 100 one handed attack and start special attacking two specials was one life for miraak that frost giant was way harder

i mostly run into that damn glitch where he runs away into the pool in the middle of the room and doesn't respond till you have to use console commands. i still think that was the stupidest scripting for a boss fight. it would have been better if he used a shout that made 3 mirrors of himself that would attack you while he stole his dragons soul's to regain his strength and you are stuck fighting these mirror images of him that are not as strong as the real miraak. but because he only has two dragon followers so he can only do this tactic twice so it's not overpowered. it would have also been cool if the platform you were on had walls that would suddenly come up out of the ground making it hard for you to simply ignore the mirror copies and head straight for the real miraak and one shot him. kinda like a maze of walls towering over the dovakin's head that would knock the dovakin on his ass for a second. like does this not sound like a badass battle that could have been? im sure with the games actual assets this could be done. especially within apocrypha with all those moving platforms.

I used Dragon Aspect shout, Thunderbolt, and Windshear. Miraak was taken down easily. So much for all those fancy master level spells I had waiting to be unleashed. I was hoping to use Lightning Storm as a finisher.
