Sujy is right, it’s like a Copyright for all kind of goods that have a “regional history”. Champagne has to be from the Champagne as an example. It’s one of the better EU regulations.

It's a protected designation of origin. It does not protect the product / the recipe itself but the name. Everyone is allowed to make Bratwurst using the recipe for Nürnberger Bratwurst, but you are not allowed to call it Nürnberger Bratwurst if it's not produced in Nürnberg.

In German mustard there is no horseradish. It is made of mustard seeds, brandy vinegar, drinking water and salt. Sometimes also sugar and other spices. But nothing more for the "normal" yellow mustard.

11:25 I understand, that bread roll was way too soft and mushy to be any good; a sausage roll needs to be so crunchy the table is full of crumbs when you´re done, even the best sausage can´t save a bad bun.

The Withe Sausage is boiled.. The Brown One is Grilled. It´s a big diference in taste. We habe some Sausages here that are boield , but brown in Color too. At some it comes from the Meat. Thes using Beef and no Pig or only a litte bit of Pig. Or the Sausage is Smoked or Air dryed. Like German Bread , we Love our different Sausages too. And "Grilled" in a different ways to do it to. On a Grill. Coal or Gas or Electric. In a Pan or on a Grill Plate. Everything gifes a different Taste too. If you yisti Germanyfor Food. Travel around. Try the diggerent Bread, Sausages, Salads, Meatballs, Fishes and so on.I think you can stay her vor Years , before you try it all ;)

There is no horse radish in spicy German Mustard, its just made with a spicy mustard seed. We have a very spicy Mustard called "Löwensenf" (Lion mustard) that is so spicy that you have to be a little bit careful. I think its the best, the mild or Bavarian sweet mustard is pointless.

Dijon mustard or sweet mustard ar the best and they fit to A LOT of things. Including sausages.
"Sauerkraut" is basically fermented, slightly seasoned and cooked white cabbage.

Correct: Bavarian white sausages and Viennese sausages are boiled, not grilled or fried. Viennese are also often used in stews OR simply with mustard and rolls. There are also white sausages without skin/skin, which a butcher (probably) invented when there was a shortage of pig intestines and he developed a sausage that didn't fall apart without the skin, they also taste very good, but Nuremberg sausages are really very tasty , Brand names such as Nuremberger may only be called that if they meet certain requirements, otherwise they have to be called something else and Parmesan from Italy is also protected, there is a similar hard cheese in Spain, but it has a different name and also its OWN name, Champagne must be from the French area/place of Champagne, otherwise it must be called sparkling wine or something like that. I have no idea whether that is translated correctly by the translate program
Bread and rolls are dry (they have to have a certain amount of moisture, but they are not soaked and depending on the rolls and the older they are or exposed to the air, the drier they become of course and if it is a cheap mass-produced product...., hopefully not), without mustard, butter, sauce...., but a good roll should make a noise when you bite into it, be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, like a good farmer's bread, for example, it should be This can be the case with most breads, except of course with toaster bread, not white bread and for those who are older and have dentures or a toothache, soft bread is of course better for them.
And the way the sausages are prepared also makes a difference, whether they are grilled over wood, smoked or over an electric grill, etc., or on an electric stove, and whether butter or margarine or lard or oil is used. when heated in a pan, it also makes a difference in terms of taste and how long it has been on it and certainly not everything will always be 100 percent the same, whether the meat is of a different quality or whether it is prepared and stored differently.

You are allowed to make Nürnberger Bratwurst in other countries / cities. You are just not allowed to call it 'Nürnberger Bratwurst' then. So you just have to give it another name.

I keep seeing people who are amazed by these "half timber houses".
In Germany we call them "Fachwerkhaus". In English it would be roughly translated as "truss works house". The dark parts are the trusses (traditionally oak) that are built first. The spaces in between, mainly triangles, are then filled with wet blocks of clay (holds everything together) and straw (insulation). It's a huge, dirty mess to do. Once everything has dried, it will last for hundreds of years.
    Greetings from the Black Forest.

Weißwurst is cooked in water. Bratwurst usually is grilled or fried in a pan. So they turn brown through the Maillard Reaction.
Also, Weißwurst is eaten with sweet mustard, Bratwurst generally with medium-spicy mustard.

Yes, only the sausages made in Nürnberg may be branded as "Nürnberger Bratwurst".
It's the same with Champagne. Only the sparkling wine that was made in the region of Champagne can be sold as such.
Also Kobe beef must be from Kobe. Otherwise, even if the quality is the same, it is "just" Wagyu beef.

Its funny how they call it horseradish mustard, but its just mustard, there is no horseradish in it.
That one is pretty much one of the most used mustards in Germany, which you get most of the time when you get something with mustard.

I also like the Nürnberger Würstchen and used to eat them at home sometimes. They are small and done really fast on the grill. The meat inside is flavored with spices. It goes well with really sour sauerkraut (there are different types of Sauerkraut in Germany, some is mild, and some is really sour even after cooking (my favorite). As a kid, I always opened the Sauerkraut before my mom cooked it and ate it raw. I still prefer raw to cooked Sauerkraut.
