Unfortunately, the best vending machine was not shown.
A machine at the winery that sells bottles of wine and bottles of sparkling water so that you can mix yourself a wine spritzer on a hike or something similar 😁

I'll tell you a secret, there is an automatic machine that bakes pizza 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 😁 Type the title in TH-cam : Pizza automata . Malicious people claim that Pizza Hut employees are locked in these machines as a punishment if they do not perform their duties properly 😂

Dear friend, a lot of German farmers also have a shop to sell their products to the public, but even a farmer have to sleep or visit relatives. For those situation (just an example) are those machines good.
    Your friend, Elmar from Germany

My favorite vending machine in Germany is the joke machine in Nuremberg. This unique machine is located in the Erlenstegen district, and for a small fee, you get a joke inside a little capsule. It's always fun to open the capsule and be surprised by the joke. The machine brings a lot of laughter and is a charming way to experience the local humor of Nuremberg.

There is definitely a video on TH-cam with the recipe for German pea soup. You may have to search. By the way, it would be great if you made this soup and made a reaction video about whether it suits your taste or not, that would definitely be very interesting. By the way, during the global economic crisis of 1929-1932, there were millions of unemployed people in Germany. And they were fed with soup kitchens because there weren't as comprehensive social services as there are today. And there was mostly pea soup because it was very hearty and filling. That's why pea soup is one of the most famous dishes in Germany - you could say it's something like a national dish.

Pea stew: Ingredients: Peeled peas 500 grams, fresh onions 2, Vienna sausages 7, diced bacon 375 grams, potatoes 7, fresh soup vegetables 2 packets, baking soda 1 pinch, salt and pepper to taste, some dried marjoram 1 teaspoon, granulated stock 2 tablespoons. Preparation: 1.Fry the bacon in a large pot until well browned. Then add the onions.
    2. Peel the soup vegetables, carrot and chop into small pieces, peel and chop celery, wash the leek and cut into rings. And add everything to the bacon. Chop the parsley and put to one side.
3.Turn the heat up until the whole thing is a little translucent. Be careful not to let it burn.
4.Then pour in 1 1/2 liters of water. Add the peas and a pinch of baking soda. Turn down the heat and simmer slowly for 1 hour.
5.Peel and dice the potatoes. After 30 minutes, add the potatoes.
6.Simmer everything slowly. Then check whether the peas and potatoes are cooked. If so, season and taste. If necessary, add a little more water.
7.When everything has been seasoned, cut the sausages into slices and add to the stew. Heat and serve.

8:36 I watch that twice now, and I don't think the thing on top is a camera. The upper part most clearly is a light with motion sensor, which makes sense when this thing is open 24/7. The lower part to me looks like a pedestrians' traffic light, with only red and green, and it seems like the green one is lit, so I think it'll turn to red when the shop is closed so you can see it from afar.

Even some of the big supermarket chains have opened stores that are completely equipped with vending machines for all kinds of goods. They can be open 24/7, 7 days a week -- absolutely not the norm in Germany. All they need in staff are a supervisor and maybe a stockist during regular business hours. It's a nice convenience to have, especially in small towns.

German farms are nowadays mostly highly mechanized and have only very little staff. More and more they have sold during the last decades their produce to cooperatives acting as wholesalers or to supermarket chains or to food processing plants, but the margins for the farmers in those marketing chains are diminishing, most profit is made down the chain. Some farmers also have still their stalls at weekly local farmer markets, but there they can only sell a small part of their harvest. Therefore many farmers have started to market their products also themselves in so called "Hofladen" shops at the farm itself. But often they don't have the staff for a shop with regular opening hours (and using their children as vendors would be illegal if done for more than a few hours per week). (Most would also not be able to sell at a daily farmers' market, because they would have to pay additional personnel for that, which would take all their profit away.) So they use vending machines instead, which allow them to sell their products 24/7.

Because you are wondering. Well, if it's rains or snowing or and of course if it's hot, to be inside a small cabin while shopping at vendor machines can be nice at those situations. 😉

I do love the "trust thing" in Germany ... there is a table just in the middle of nowhere on a country road with sign saying like for example "apples". You take some apples and open (!) the cash box and put your money in. And let's say you pay with an 10€ euro note, but just have to pay 2€ ... the cash box is open! So you put your 10€ in and take yourself 8€ out of the box as return money. When you open the box, there might be already 40€ or 60€ inside of it you could just easily grab and steal, because there are no security cams! But nobody (!) would do that! So you have an open cash box full of money somewhere in the middle of nowhere ... sounds crazy, doesn't it? o_O

We do have markets and farm shops too, but a vending machine is more cost saving, people can spend their time working on the fields, vineyards and so on and not waiting all day for the once in a while customer doing nothing. And in the night or weekends its time for resting, and salaries are higher at that time, so no extra, more expensive, workers have to wait for someone having the spontaneous idea to BBQ. Btw. we don't have 24/7 supermarkets, they are closed between 22 to 7 o'clock, and sundays they are closed the whole day. And, don't you eat french fries with ketchup?

A distant dairy farmer also has a vending machine for selling his milk bottles. Or the local ice cream producer now also has two or three ice cream vending machines with his homemade ice cream. Or the modern Version of a little Shop how Kiosk is the "Tante Emma 2.0" (Aunt Emma) with cameras and credit card payment system. Or the bigger Version by the Discounter and supermarkets the SB Market with Sensors and cameras. (Selfservice markets). You can go inside and pick your stuff and pay with your app after shopping.
