    This is very interesting to read the comments. My girlfriend (a 2:48 marathoner) has had all 3 versions on the Novablast and she said she prefers the 3, BY FAR.
    She says “it feels snappy, like I could actually do a tempo run in them; I don’t feel fast in the other 2. I wouldn’t do a workout in them, but a tempo run or a pick up inside a long run, for sure! And I prefer the fit of the 3 as well, they’re more comfortable than the other ones.. and bouncier.”
    For reference, she also loves: Puma Deviate Nitro Elite, Asics Magic Speed 1, ON Cloud Monster and she DID NOT like the Puma XX Nitro (comfy for standing but felt like it was “slappy”when running), Hoka Clifton, Rincon, Carbon X, Torrent, (all Hokas, she said lol) and ON Cloud Flow
    Hope that helps!

    Novablast 3 TR is the way to go, get yourself a little more grip on that outsole. Perfect for roads and smooth trails, plus the added grip will be beneficial for winter running.

      Nova3 is definitely softer than the SL20 line, V1 was just so special with the decoupled groove.

    Seth is noooot a fan of Asics, and it shows. The Nova3 is one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on. It does everything. This is also the first shoe that I didn't do a runners knot, and still no slippage! Energy return for a daily trainer is amazing. Speedwork is amazing. Weight went down, and I have had all three Nova's. This is by far the best version. It should be on that special 8 ranking

    I personally have preferred the novablast 3 over the 2's hands down. The new foam is significantly more bouncy and I feel like I can settle in and tick off the miles. I felt like the 2's were quite a bit more firm. I got 450 miles in the 2's. I actually felt like after 20 miles the 3's got better. I'm at around 120 now and still loving them

    I just ran my first marathon in the Nova 3 TR and I really like them! As a huge fan of the Nova 1 (just bought one of the last pairs before Nova 3's launch), they are different and feel less springy and firmer for sure, but they feel more stable. TR is perfect for winter road running/forest. Love them both!

  • @timtrenholm3698
    @timtrenholm3698 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Giving a shoe a bad price score if it was significantly more expensive compared to other direct competitor shoes, I get. But the NovaBlast 3 seems priced decently given other shoes it lines up with. Just think if inflation on running shoes matched everything else.... That's the problem with these arbitrary scoring systems, too much bias even if it's unconscious.
    Focus on the qualitative aspects, and limit the quantitative to things that can actually be measured, and measured appropriately. Durometer scores without taking load into account is kinda pointless. A 135lb runner is going to have a completely different "feeling" of how soft and cushioned a mid-sole is over a 200lb runner in the same shoe.

  • @runnershighrunning
    @runnershighrunning ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I had this shoe for a few weeks and this was my experience in a nutshell!
    -Looks are AMAZING
    -Upper is great
    -Midsole is bouncy but not mushy
    -Novablast 3 is way more stable than the 1 or 2
    -I returned it because to me at slower paces and walking it is kinda slappy sounding. Your heel hits and then the forefoot slaps down and is kinda noisy. If it wasn’t for that I do think it’s a great option.
    -Also at $140 it’s priced below probably 70% of other shoes on the market. To me that’s a bonus.
    Side note couldn’t be happier for you Seth that your back in action with your reviews doing what you love which is getting out there and running! Thanks for sticking with it through the injury and can’t wait for more of these! 😊

    Unfortunately the price increases are inevitable. At our running shoe store we changed literally every single price tag either this year or last year if I remember correctly. Every shoe we carry increased its price from the carbon plated racers, to the performance trainers, all the way down to the bread and bread and butter shoes like the Brooks Ghost and Saucony Ride. The only exception is the More v4 (which came down in price) but that's primarily because they didn't have nearly the success they wanted compared to the Hoka Bondi, so they're eating a bit of a loss on that and hoping it becomes more competitive. I 100% expect it to jump straight back up within a year or two.
    Regarding scores, personally I think if I shoe goes up considerably then maybe I'd ding the score, but every other shoe went up $5-10 with it so it's not really like Asics just decided their shoe is better than the competition and they want more money for it. Not sure, but perhaps it would be interesting to score pricetags by how they stack up to other shoes in its current category, rather than to older shoes.

    • @Pianoman1234321
      @Pianoman1234321 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'll add this because I'm already seeing a couple of weirdly emotional comments in here with people actually seeming offended at this shoe score: It's a shoe. If you like it then buy it, you don't need every reviewer to agree with you. If you're looking for a good review to validate your opinion, other people reviewed this shoe and gave it good scores.
      I disagree with the review ≠ reviewer is bad at reviewing
      And before anyone says I'm just being defensive, I also disagree with the review. I'd probably change the price tag score, the upper score, the midsole score, and the outsole score. Doesn't change the point though.

    I moved over to the Novablast 1 from New Balance 1080 for my daily trainer when they launched. I logged only 544km before I started getting knee pain and I replaced them for the Novablast 2. I covered 680km so far in one pair and 300km in a second pair. I’m still running in both pairs and I added the Novablast 3 recently, so far I’ve run 90km in them. They fit really well and feel secure on corners but they do not have the energy return and fun bounce of the two former models. I’m a bit disappointed.

  • @LamontParraway
    @LamontParraway ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think ASICS has quality control issues with the NB3 line. I bought a pair the day they were released and the first pair I received had nowhere near the bounce of the NB2 but still had a significant bounce to them. Unfortunately the energy return on the left shoe seemed to direct all the energy directly into my left big toe so I returned the pair. The next pair I received did not have the same issue with distribution of energy return but had nowhere near the bounce of the previous pair even though they were supposed to be the exact same shoe. Definitely quality control issues and probably why the opinions on the NB3 are so divided. People are having completely different experiences in the shoes because they literally are not the same shoes for each individual!

    I didn’t have either of the Novablast 1’s or 2’s, but I’m loving my Novablast 3’s! I would agree that the outsole isn’t the greatest and that there is some creasing in the midsole, but I would say the upper is one of the most comfortable I’ve worn, the grip has gotten better after 50 miles and the cushioning still feels soft and responsive for me. We’ll see after 300+ where it’s at. Not sure $140 is too bad considering inflation and compared to other similar shoes.

    I've logged over 2500 miles in 7 pairs of Novablast. I'm a heavier runner and used them on trails and road, from regular miles, faster paces, and even some races, including ultras. I like the lineup because of their longevity and the energy return - I find them both comfortable as well as enjoyable to run in. The 1 was my favorite due to the bounce, but I got 500 miles out of my first pair of 2's. I have a pair of 3's but haven't used them much yet. I am wary of the new line up for I think sometimes shaving a few grams of weight often is a detriment overall. As far as the price point, I think it's going to be a little unfair to start dinging shoe scores because of price increases. Sure, it would be great to get good shoes for $50, but with the increased prices in everything, it's just unrealistic to think that shoe prices are going to stay flat. Now, if the 3's ended up not holding up, a ding might be fair, but the 1's and 2's were a exceptional value considering how long they hold up.

    The Novablast 2 didn’t work for me, they felt sluggish and I got calf strains after long runs in these shoes that complete disappeared just by going back to Endorphin Speeds.
    I’m disappointed they didn’t learn from the feedback from runners and head back towards the V1. I loved both the longevity and bounce.

    I've got both of them and I've run in both Novablast 2 & 3 this week. I prefer the Novablast 3. I tend to hit mid-foot on my right foot and closer to my heel on my left foot. The Novablast 2 punished me for that sloppy form by making that forefoot slap. The Novablast 3 has a bit of a heel bevel that smooths out my footstrike. I do agree the Novablast 2 is a bit bouncier and that it invites a faster pace. But, the Novablast 3 still allows you to speed up and lets you cruise very comfortably at a steasy effort. As for durability, I've already got 200 miles on my Novablast 3's. And I weigh 210lbs. There is creasing in the foam but there's no sign at all that it's losing resilience or flattening out. I would be very surprised if I didn't get 400+ miles out of it. But, I'll put a note in my calendar to send you pictures in a month or so.

    Can someone please answer this question. Is it okay, to change the insole of a new running shoe to the insole of a previous running shoe? Or does that actually just contradict the new technology for the new shoe?

    Wanted to like this shoe, have over 400 miles in noosa13's and fell in love with them. Suppose I like the firmer ride but also as a midfoot/forefoot striker the novablast 3 just didn't feel right after my 1st run. The Noosa just rolls better mid to forefoot. Unfortunately, sending mine back. Noosa14 or glideride3 or Saucony speedroll tech is what I like.

    Oddly enough, I picked up the Nike Pegasus 39 over the Novablast 3, which was hard for me because I loved the Novablast 1&2, and haven’t been a fan of the Pegasus since the 35/36 models, but Nike brought the Peg back. There’s still improvement, but it’s such a versatile shoe. The Pegs are lower stack than the Novablast, but the air zoom units make it feel like it has more cushion, which is nice. Plus I picked the Pegs up on sale, with an additional discount code from Nike for $64.

I'm looking forward to replacing my Endorphin Speed 2s with Endo Speed 3s and having the perfect 2-shoe rotation. I had high hopes for the Tempus, but it was too directive for me and didn't agree with what my feet and ankles wanted to do--I had to return them after 160 miles--thank goodness for Running Warehouse's 90-day return policy. 😄

    I'm approaching 250km in my 3s and I have to agree with you Seth. While the 3s look cooler (in my opinion) they're a step down from the 2s in some categories; most notably the lack of bounce and the rubber is slippery on wet pavement. I loved the 2s and still enjoy running in the 3s, that said, I felt like the 2s felt more more boat-like than the 3s.

    I bought 2 pairs of version 1 as the cushion and bounce was insanely good. I tried on version 2 and it just did not feel the same (hence bought that second pair of V1 at a ridiculously low sale price). I purchased version 3 and I am "fairly" happy with it. It has more stability, less pop, but the ride is smoother. After ~75 miles, the midsole is showing quite a bit of creases. My biggest concern/complaint is the outsole rubber. Asics downgraded from AHAR+ to normal AHAR in V3...and unfortunately, it shows. I have noticeable outsole wear and wet traction sucks. I know I sound negative but it really is a great, versatile shoe. It was just somewhat of a letdown when compared to V1

      @TolunayOrkun ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, downgrade from AHAR+ to AHAR was a major mistake! AHAR+ amazingly durable. I wear out my shoes in the lateral heel area and my Novablast v1 still has rubber with close to 400 miles. I can probably run another 100 miles on them easily. They are not retired yet. I think I will get Novabast 3 TR instead when at some point it is discounted. Still AHAR there but a little more rubber to work with and slightly better traction to begin with.

    I pick the OG Novablast out of all 3! The 2 and 3 felt blocky and I could really “hear” my foot almost slap the ground as I ran. Usually I’m a pretty soft footstrike but the Novablast 2/3 made me sound like I was stomping!

    NB3 is a great shoe but does feel like you're running on a substantial wedge. Mainly use for easy/recovery runs, but you know what? It can pick up the pace; so like the first EndoSpeed1, it feels awkward spongy strange when you walk on it, but that sensation disappears for me when running. No issues for me yet, I worry more about the outsole durability than I worry about the midsole so far. Plenty of miles left in this...

  • @SoundScoutOne

    I bought the shoe the day it got released. I find it a very enjoyable show to run in. The weight drop makes a fair difference. However, I have to agree with you the ‘pop’. It’s almost not there compared to Novablast 1. To this day I still reach for the Novablast 1 for easy days. After just over 1000km. The pop is sure gone but besides the weight it feels oddly similar now to the Novablast 3.

    Downgrading from AHAR+ in Novablast 1/2 down to AHAR in Novablast 3 was a mistake (especially with price hike)! AHAR+ is extremely durable. My Novablast 1 still have a lot of rubber coverage with nearly 400 miles and traction is still decent. I think I might go to Novabast 3 TR instead because while still AHAR, there is more rubber to work with on the outsole and better traction.

    I wonder if there's manufacturing variability for this shoe. Some reviewers think it's crazy bouncy shoe of the year (not just kofuzi). Other reviewers find the midsole feel / bounce kinda dead compared to previous versions. It seems to be polarizing.

    • @meta4four
      @meta4four ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Asics has pretty obviously gone hard with incentivizing certain Shoetubers, if you know what I mean. I don't think it's "manufacturer variability" so much so as the perception is dependent on just how close the reviewer is to Asics. This shoe's entire launch was suspect with certain channels dropping "show of the year" hype before the shoe was even released.
      Kofuzi is the worst by far; if you read the comments on his Asics Superblast video he's getting pissy at commenters who are rightfully pointing out how absurd the pricing on that shoe is. Why would a Shoe TH-camr feel the need to carry water for a manufacturer over the PRICING of their shoe lol?

    • @tsubakichan
      @tsubakichan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@meta4four Yes, but you're not hearing what I actually said. You can make your own judgments on Shoetubers who get comped the shoe or whatever for free. But some non-youtubers (like friends I follow on Strava that don't have relationships with ASICS) also love the shoe and declare it SOTY, while others find Nova3s lacking.
      As someone who only owns the Nova2s - and enjoys them - I find the dichotomy on the 3s quite interesting.

    • @meta4four
      @meta4four ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tsubakichan I understand what you are saying. One thing you maybe aren't taking into account: there were several "ZOMG bEsT sHoE EvEr! ShOe oF tHE YeAR!" reviews and videos out before the general public could even buy this shoe. The pre-availability hype was massive. So how many "normal runner's'" opinions had been already shaped by those glowing reviews (which probably enticed them to buy the show in the first place)? Think of it like pre-conditioning you to form an opinion before you've even put the shoe on your foot.
      Again, the shoe is good and there's probably a lot of individual user variance just because it was built up as this perfect shoe that anyone and everyone would find amazing. Of course, as well all know, shoes are very dependent on one's feet and running characteristics. That's probably why it's really disappointing for some users.
      What I find less likely is the idea that the manufacturing consistency is so inconsistent that one person gets a super bouncy/responsive Novablast 3, and someone else gets a Novablast 3 that's squishy and dull. That would take pretty obscene error on Asics' part.
