Seth, nice Vlog. I'm 71 and last year I lost my way in running. A time of introspection. I began to hate doing the long runs. My long runs got shorter, rarely over six miles. I asked the same question, "Will I ever race again?" I faltered in the Cooper River Bridge Run. And I knew what the problem was; the long run and winter, the snow, the cold, the lack of sun, the impossible to run muddy trails. All of it ganged up on my enjoyment of running. Reset. What worked in the past? Running every other day and being OK if I miss a day here and there. Fun Runs; days when I stop and talk to the birders, the fishermen, and the gold panners along Clear Creek. I'm Back! Tomorrow I will run the Hayden Cog Run.. I'm excited. It should be fun. Have a great day.

After being diagnosed with cancer two months ago, everything has changed for me. And not all for the worst. It’s opened my eyes to what In life is really important. It’s not running, racing, sports ect. It’s family friends , kids, life itself! I strive everyday to get back to where I was in my training and racing life but may never get there but, that’s alright. A whole new world has open to me. Keep fighting keep striving, never stop!

Hey Seth, so great to see you here. Thank you for this video. It's not daily anymore, but it's probably healthier all around. Life is greater than an existence to please the socials. You're not accountable to people on the internet. You're not disappointing anyone. Keep those priorities straight. Life is fleeting. You have one family to nurture and love, beauty to seek, and joy to find in running. All this will pass and you will wonder why you kept trying to please random strangers (even if we are nice) on the net.

Life is life and we all have our separate paths and we do the best that we can so don't let anyone's comment pull your thoughts away from doing what is best for you and your family. Congrats by the way on the new additions. That's joyous news in itself!
As an "older" running, late 50s I certainly have those thoughts from time to time about whether I want to continue doing marathons or heck, even just racing anymore. It's part of the process and at the end of the day as long as we're able to just get out there and feel good about the fact that we're blessed to have running as our passion, we can't really ask for too much more.
Keep on keeping on Seth. It's been a fun ride so far.

I'll be 31 soon, and I'll never be in that kind of shape ever again, especially because i work full time. I decided to run a half marathon (colfax half, denver) as a way to stay motivated to work out. The biggest exercise has been in humility. The change of mindset from trying to win races to having fun. Hey Seth - I’ve been a follower for a while now and want to thank you for your community, lessens, and sharing who you are with is.
I’m currently 30 and have been running since I was 12. I ran in grade school, high school, and college. I stopped during my junior year - I realized I wasn’t enjoying it but even more than that it was consuming my life in a negative way. I stepped away and didn’t know if I’d ever run again.
I started cycling long distances and loved that. I also started living my life. After about 4 years of not running, I had the itch again. I started slow and easy with no goals in mind. I let Running guide me instead of me force the Running. It’s been 4 years and I’m happy, healthy, and training for ultras.
Reflecting on this, i do my best to take a step back and see the longer view of time. Me stopping running for 4 years has allowed me to continue running (hopefully) well into my future years.
Wishing you the best in whatever you discern 🙏💚

In May I ran a marathon in honor of her knowing her time is limited, I tried matching her pain by running with no training and I did. That took a lot out of me due to the race followed by her death in August. So, this year I’m just running enjoying my wife and kids and thinking about good the times. I do not get to race many times during a year maybe 1-2 times, but is something I do enjoy. My wife sometimes cannot understand but... is a good feeling when you are able to evaluate your training with an specific goal. I am sure your time will come and feeling that adrenaline of the competition, keep up the steady work and enjoy the training process. Trust yourself, you know what´s best :)

QOD: The year after I PR’d my marathon in Victoria BC about two years ago I did a personal check in for racing and training. I loved the structure I had for that time, but the cost was taken from my personal life and personal relationships. I’ve since taken the summers off racing, and spend that time instead with those close to me be it friends for family. Plus I do a lot more hiking in that season and doing things that bring joy to my life.

No disappointment from this viewer. You have to do what fits with your life. Racing? Sure, it is fun but what is more important is happiness and health, for you and your family.

It's your journey! I took 22 years off from running marathons (age 38-60) because of life. I was still running, just not racing marathons. Since 60 I have run 15 marathons (more than I did prior to my long sabbatical) and just turned 70 and have 5 more on the books this year alone. I am not suggesting to anyone that they should do what I did, only that it really is never too late as long as you maintain your health and have the determination and desire. Embrace your time with your kids and wife, you don't get do overs on that. You have plenty of time and no one to answer to other than yourself.

Good video Seth, good to see you healthy, happy & sorting life out, wow! 100 miles a week is f… awesome! I turned 60 November last year, had my best year of running pbs 2023 in the marathon & half marathons & even came first in a 5k park run, but late January this year got a knee injury, still sore have done a few running events this year but pretty much walk jog because of injury, so 2024 is reviewing the situation, thinking about will I ever get back to running events again, hope so, but life is what it is, keep moving forward, keep on keeping on, don’t worry be happy, good luck Seth ✅🌲🌴👣🧐👊🏼🌲☔️👍🏼✌️🏃🏽‍♂️

Fully supporting you and the family !!! I think it would be helpful to the DGR family if you could share a little bit of what is going on …. to be seeing such a large pivot on the You tube . We all want to love and support you but it feels like something big is in room that is not being shared ( perhaps an elephant 🐘). Are the kids and TL ok? Are you ok? We love you Seth and are here for you .❤👍🏼🙏🏽

QOD: For me I got super fit in covid lockdown running, eating well, but then got an injury in my metatarsals from running too much, which is still niggling me, and just been on a downward spiral since in terms of pace, fitness and weight. Not sure how to get back to making progress with work, life, kids and takeaways!
