    Literally just got them in as my Berlin Marathon easy day shoe. 100% agree that they're similar to the V2 that they like to pick up the pace. Although, I'm finding I'm running quicker in them for no extra effort. A great shoe, and thoroughly enjoying them in these early days! I got 650km out of V2. I'd be happy if I could get that out of this pair 🤞🏻

    760 miles on my first pair of Novablast 2. Mostly use them for med-long and long runs which were 20 to 30 seconds slower than M pace, occasionally use them for recovery runs. JEEZ! These shoes are after 300 Miles for real? I mean, it looks quite amazing!
    My Pegasus 39's are after about 300 miles and the buttom sides are tearing + right where the toe is I have a small but noticble little tear which shoes all the more with white socks (shoe is Black). However, I did use those for weightlifting too.
    Anyways, I'm truly considering getting this shoe as it's on sale now in my country (about 110$ for the LE version).
    I wanna step up from the do-it-all type shoes and a little more to the running aspect. Will this be a good pick?

    They are a fantastic shoe , my MK3 has done 400 miles and still really are fine . What is amazing is my MK1 novablasts have done 1150 miles yes one thousand one hundred and fifty miles and still run great . I am blown away by the way they have lasted . I've got lots of different makes in my 14 pair rotation and I would have to say the asics stand head and shoulders above other makes. I took 2 pairs of 1080vs to 650+ plus miles but they lost their suspension for me , I am a heavy runner at 83kg so maybe lighter runners would have got further. Happy running everyone 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️😁

    These have a proven better durability than v.2. I got almost 900k and the upper is like brand new whereas the v2 had had holes. Even the outsole is in better condition. Only con is that the outsole rubber is more slippery as the kilometers go by... A well-worth purchase 100%

    I am around 650 miles into my novablast 3, it took me a long time to get going in them because the v2 went to 1200 miles. I do think maybe I should have gone for the trail version because it appears that the outsole is going to be the first point of failure, but I still expect to get close to 1000 miles and it is a great VFM shoe, they are crazy if they kill off this line!
    Superblast is a good shoe but I think £210 is just obscene for a daily trainer (I managed to at least get mine 25% off). It is a much firmer ride and is great for rotating with the novablast (in UK 9.5 they are within 2g of each other on weight). I wish they had gone for the novablast upper rather than one similar to the metaspeed, I would have happily taken a few extra grams for the comfort.
    I believe we are due a new marathon shoe from Asics at some point this year, hopefully it will have a new upper, at the moment I am still favouring vaporfly 2, I know this was not your favourite Andy but the upper works for me and I am one of those people who can't tell any difference in the midsole from v1...

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah not everyone does noticed the difference, and I’m glad they work for you!

    Appreciate the actual long term testing on the shoes, look forward for the 500miles review :)
    As a wide footed person, I do enjoy NB3 but too bad they "cheap" out the insole and construction. Despite wider upper the insole and base is same width even in the wide cutting. The issue I had when running tempo; which I think this shoes shines; the foam squeezed and become wider than the insole and my feet are "floating" between insole and the base of the shoes; making weird rubbing sensation on my feet which I am pretty sure will give me blisters if I continue.
    Currently running on Cumulus 25; didn't enjoy it as much; not as exciting as NVB3; but at least their 4E didn't "cheap out" on the insole width.

    • @DanKoval-bu3ue

      Just out of curiosity, do you typically wear a 2E or 4E sized shoe? I'm just asking as I'm looking at buying the Novablast 3 in the wide version that Asics just put out, but I typically wear a wide (2E) sized shoe and want to know if it would fit me better or just If I should just buy the nimbus 25 in 4E if that is more of truer 2E size since Asics runs narrow in most of their models.

    Just retired mine, so this feels timely. Got to 465 miles in them and the squish was noticeably disappearing. I came away from runs feeling more achy and as an old man I have to listen to the signs and move on. I dithered for a bit, nearly got another pair, and ended up with the Cumulus 25 (from a list of Nitro 2, Triumph 20, Nimbus and Cumulus 25). Currently underwhelmed, and a slight sign of wear and tear on the outsole after about 30 miles on one shoe. They're the first 'proper' running shoes I've ever had. I was just wondering how do you know when the shoes are reaching the end of their life? I can't tell if they feel any different from when I first bought them, but I think that's probably due to my lack of experience 👀

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I often used to wait for shin or knee pain before I retired my shoes, which mean the midsole had completely gone! Now I’m a bit more in tune with when a midsole starts to flatten out so I swap earlier. My advice would be grab a new pair now and walk around in them, it can be any shoe… and just remind your brain what a fresh midsole feels like! Then keep running in your current ones until such time as you can feel a noticeable difference from the new to the old. Often you’ll get between 300/500 miles in a shoe before they need retiring so that’s a good benchmark

    I like the Superblast but it feels kind of dead in comparison to other long distance trainers, like the NB SC Trainer for instance. Maybe it's me being a slow runner ( 9:12 and 8:42 min/mi for easy long runs) and that's why I feel like it rolls out better than bouncing; I mean, gets the job done very wel but not too much of an exiting ride. It started to felt more squishy since mile 20 so the ride is now very similar (in my opinion) to a Clifton, I mean, soft but not responsive. I'm not too much of an Asic guy, and my last experience with an Asci was the Glideride; this shoe is not a bit close to that one, which was like from other world! I mean that thing ate miles... it felt like cheating. The Glideride was the shoe that I picked up for most of my long runs (2021) and I'm the kind of fellows that looks for excuses to use their super shoes for pretty much everything lol.

    Should i get this or the zoom fly 5 for a marathon race?

  • @nicktrueman

    I'm about 70 miles into the Superblast. They felt incredibly bouncy on the first few runs, but either I've just got used to it, or they've dulled off a bit. I don't get on with plated shoes, so I hoped these might give me some super shoe vibes (FF Turbo) and a be a potential racer. I'd say they're very capable, but not exceptional. Ride is smooth and despite the stack, they're pretty stable. Biggest plus for me is the upper, really easy to get on with, fuss free and plenty of room. I've taken them up to half marathon distance and can hit my target race pace. I'm just usually left feeling a bit underwhelmed and that other shoes in my rotation could do the same, or better. Still, intend to persevere with them (especially given the price 😅)

      @magnusskold9134 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see it as the opposite, FF Turbo need a lot of miles before they open up and get better with a softer and more propulsive bounce.
      I liked my Superblast from 0-150km, but now after 150km they are significantly better with a softer and better bounce. Same experience with FF Turbo in my Metaspeed Sky and Sky+.

    I just bought these and my feet hurt badly after five mile runs - mainly the balls off my feet. I’ve only just started running after a few months off, so not sure if I’ve just taken on too many miles too soon or if it’s the shoes. Anyone else had this?

  • @michealGRuns
    @michealGRuns ปีที่แล้ว

    My experience with the Novablast 3 is that it’s just too much cushioning and it’s less stable than the 2. I did all my long runs up to 36km in the Novablast 2 but the 3’s seem to make me pronate, so I don’t run more than 8km in them.
    I don’t understand why they couldn’t just update the upper and the midsole foam of the Novablast 2.
    I’m hoping the next Dynablast has Blast +
