    I have both of these shoes and they consumed most of my miles this fall and winter. The NB3 was my daily trainer and mile eater. The Speed3 was my tempo/speed day shoe. Great one two punch.

    Great comparison, I have both also and feel that the Novablast 3 TR is great for fall and winter training into the spring, with it slightly better grip. With that said the when I’m getting ready for my run and know I’ll be doing mixed efforts easy w/some tempo mixed in I find the NB-3 is a better all around. Sacouny Speed is reserved for faster workouts with dry roads.

    • @TheFODRunner

      Nice! Yes the TR is probably better for grip on these wetter months and everyone I speak too says they prefer the TR version

    I have wide feet. Had been searching for ages (without success) for a speedier shoe that accommodates a wider foot - the Speed 3 has solved that issue (even though not available in a 2e). Thought worth mentioning in case anyone reading is in a similar position

    Love this comparison, these are my 2 current road shoes. I am aligned with your thoughts on both! The ES3 is more nimble and the upper fits my feet a bit better (esp in length). The NB3 is a bit long in length. Both shoes for me have gotten better the more miles I've put on them. I naturally run a quicker pace in the ES3.

    Got the TR version at usd 105. Just get the TR version and call it a day. Don't worry about the wet grip / longevity of the outsole with the TR. Speed 3 for those who wants a faster shoe.

    Thanks for the great conparison Andy!! Iam using Novablast 3 the same way you are. I prefer to put them in my moderate training like I did in my Novablast v1 (the best Novablast in my opinion). As speed 3, Iam not sure if, having Novablast 3, they would be useful in my training block, however they must be amazing daily trainer shoes. Greetings from Brazil!

    The Novablast 3 is a beast! I've made my halfmarathon PR in that shoe and I ran a 20min 5k in it too! I don't care much for the speed, the rockered sole feels uncomfortable and unnatural to me.

  • @TravelRunner
    @TravelRunner ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great comparison, Andy. For a couple years now I've felt the Endorphin Speed is the most versatile shoe out there. I've used it for pretty much every type of run under the sun. When I got my first pair I was thinking workouts and long runs, but I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked them during easy and recovery days as well. And for those who don't want to fork over the money for a carbon plated shoe to race in, the Speed is a great option for racing as well. That being said, the Novablast is my go-to long run shoe. It's so comfortable and smooth with my running gait, a gem of a shoe for sure. If you have the means to afford both, they're my top 2 shoe recommendations.

    • @TheFODRunner

  • @timtrenholm3698

    Owned both Speed V1 and Speed V3. Saucony definitely created a true break between the Pro 3 and Speed 3. The Speed 3 plate really only provides lateral stability, and perhaps some rocker assistance. Still a great shoe, but no longer has the top end that the Speed 1 did, for me. The one major problem I have with the Speed 3 is the hardness of the heel pocket and potentially a smaller left foot. If I wear it on longer runs (20+ KM) I will get a blister on my left heel, which I can solve with a piece of KT tape, or bandaid, but it's annoying. So I now use it for middle distance HMP/MP interval days where I am putting in 10-15KM worth of work. If I have to go faster (Takumi Sen8) or longer (Tempo Next%). Like you, I have a decent stable of shoes for particular use cases.
    As mentioned by a few other people, these comparison videos have huge value, keep it up!

    • @saramims1592
      @saramims1592 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also have issues with the top of the left heel counter rubbing me. I seem to not have it at quicker paces as much but have a similar experience as you. I have not had the issue as much lately and I think it could be due to only using the shoe for quicker paces.

    • @timtrenholm3698
      @timtrenholm3698 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@saramims1592 It's really odd. I have worn ALOT of different shoes and I did experience it to a lesser extent in the Speed 1, where I wore a hole inside the heel counter after 550km. I've just chalked it up to something with the Speed shoe last that my left foot doesn't agree with. Annoying, but manageable for such a great shoe.

    I have both. TR version of the NB. Probably the most comfortable shoe I've run it. I found that the speed 3 is closer to the Pro 3 than it is to the speed 2. The speed3 feels identical at tempo pace to the pro 3, it's only when you go to race speed you can feel the difference with that carbon plated pop.

    For me the speed is an all round better shoe but the NB3 is very close to it. When clocking up the miles it's better to have a shoe without a plate in. So I think the NB3 wins because u can get a better plated shoe than the speed. Can't get a better non plated recovery shoe than the NB

At the same time, I'm looking for new racing shoes for my future half marathon and my ultimate goal is sub 1:30-1:45. Should I buy Saucony Endorphin pro 3 or speed 3 will be enough for this goal?

    This video: when you want to go a little slower, get the Novablast. When you want to go a little faster, get the Speed.

      One option would be the Novablast 3 TR it has a bit more aggressive outsole, but not too much that interferes with its ride. I’m currently using the TR version for light trails, with that said both shoes are great. I just prefer the TR during winter or rainy wet days. Hope you have a great day…

    On sizing for both shoes, how much room do you leave at the end of the toe? I’m wearing a full size up from true measured foot size and have a thumbnail and a half extra room at the front of the shoe, but the sides are snug. Does this affect the push off and the sweet spot of the shoe? Im wondering if I need to go a half size down and deal with my outer foot and pinky toes jamming.

Speed 3 much softer and better energy return but the softness is annoying when I begin to slow down at the end of the long run. So for Tempo runs Speed 2 and 3 are amazing.
