Never in my life have I clicked on a video so fast. I had a metatarsal stress fracture all summer and it's finally healed up, just in time to get back into things with the new Novablasts!
Great review, Michael! You influenced me to buy the NB3 and I've gotten a bit over 200 miles on them. Have been gravitating toward Nimbus 25 more though, which is just a fantastic shoe. ASICS in general has been treating me well!
Asics Novablast 3 are my go-to shoes of the year, they have about 800 km on them and I will continue to use them until I get my hands on 4's. From the original to v3, every iteration got better, hopefully 4 will continue the same trend.
@@elophostia The foam is still fine, i could take it to 1000 km if i wanted to. Its obviously not as fresh as new pair, but i have no problem running in them. In fact, I think the foam is softer than Saucony Triumph 20 which has 150 km and is considered max cushion shoe. But it also depends on what type of runner you are, I have 50 kg and tend not to destroy my shoes that much.
I own a pair of novablast 3, with little bit above 750 km. I'm 85 kg. I've had the feeling that shoes started to lose their softness after maybe 600 km. All my runs after 700 km were simply because I loved NB3 so much, so I wanted to give them a chance again and again, but unfortunately in my case they definitely became more and more stiffer, and my last run in them was 25 km, and I didn't like it at all in the second half. Shoes felt like very stiff on every landing.@@elophostia
Im about 1600 km into my novablast 3 and the only thing that shows any wear is the ahar rubber(finaly😅) However around 1400-1500 km i started to feel the foam near the root of the big toe(step off/landing area) compress and feeling a bit flat almoat...maybe just me, maybe depending on how I run but however great shoe Im a bit concerned for the 4s since they use the same ff blast iteration as the nimbus 25 I have a pair of nimbus 25 with almost 700km on them and I dont like them nearly as much
@@HDSigningOut I bought a pair and found myself slightly pronating during my running sessions. Never felt such a thing with my previous shoes (Pegasus 38, 39, and a few stable ASICS). Maybe the reason is the rocky profile of the NB3, but in my opinion, this is a problem addressed to my stabilizers, and I just have to get stronger. Still, these are the best shoes I've ever had, and I easily improved my pace by 10 seconds per minute with the same intensity.
Decided against the more expensive nimbus 25 and went for a discounted nb3 . No regrets. Using the nb3 for 90mins low hr maff runs . I have another pair of magic speed 2 for short 5km speed runs . These are my 2 shoe rotations. I think i ll pick up another pair of nb3 since the nb4 is less springy . Thanks for great review !
I love that my Novablast 2&3 both have plenty of pop, when I want to go faster. I am concerned that the 4 may be slower for me. Along with the Superblast, they are the best running shoes I have ever owned.
Thank you! I absolutely get your idea about the response. For me, I bought the Nimbus 25 for my long runs, but ended up using the On Cloud Surfer, because of the lack of spring on the shoe, it's just too soft on the Nimbus, so I use them for recovery days, or traveling to other cities to race; those shoes are just a pleasure to walk on, so my feet are rested on race day.
I switched out from the Nimbus25 to the Cloudsurfer when it came time to replace them as well. I love the Cloudsurfer but use it for easy, recovery and medium long runs.
just grabbed the 3s on sale and loved running in them for the first time this weekend, im excited to see how the 4s will do as more reviews roll out. Until then I'll enjoy my 3s and wait for the 4s to go on sale 😌
Clicked so fast on this one haha. Great review as always. Interesting that they aren't releasing two versions (one eco and one non eco foam). Getting harder to choose a daily trainer these days with so many great options!
I think it was an incredibly bold move to switch this over to FF Blast+ Eco. And I appreciate that they were willing to put their money where their mouth is in terms of a product that pushes towards more responsible production
I feel like you kinda answered your own question with your last sentence. No reason to add two versions of the same model with the only difference being the foam material composition. Seems like ASICS is dedicated to slowly incorporating FF Blast + Eco in their lineup of trainers.
Interesting tweaks to this version! I was rotating SC Trainer V1 for easy/long runs and NovaBlast 3 for speed workouts last season. I have SCT V2 now and with its changes and looking at this version they seem closer together. I miss some of the cushiness of the SCT V1 and this NB4 seems to be a hair less springy or more like a daily trainer. Still considering the Saucony Endorphine Speed 3 as my speed session trainer, but I still have some mileage left in my NB3’s to get by for a bit.
Great review. I love my Novablast 2’s. I will invest in a couple of pairs of the 3s now having seen this. I love the versatility of the shoe and I don’t want to lose that.
The daily trainer category is my jam. I’m so excited for the Nova4! Just picked up a second pair of 3s on sale and nearly to the end of my Clifton9s. I’m so happy Asics kept the price tag @ $140. Seems like a no brainer vs NB1080.
Agree! No brainer to go for the Nova4 over the NB1080. I'm going to pick up another Nova3. But am excited that Kofuzi was able to run in the rain in the 4's and not have any issues. I'll be checking out the 4's later next year!
Great review and nice of Ascis for keeping the price at 140. Loved the NB3 and might get a 3rd pair or this new one. Don't might if it's a little bit less responsive as a use the Magic Speed 3 for my tempo runs. Already tried the 1080 v13 and didn't like it at all for being such a bulky shoe.
I was conflicted in marking down the novablast 4 for not being as speed-ready as the novablast 3. I rarely use daily trainers for workouts, as I'll use a race shoe or a workout shoe, like takumi sen or magic speed. and while the novablast 4 is probably a better daily trainer in terms of how I actually use a daily trainer, that slight change in spirit of the shoe does make it a touch less exciting.
I think you made an interesting point about the change in foam with the bio foams. I found the same with the pwr run foam with Saucony. The Axon 3 uses a bio foam (might be corn bases) vs the kinvara 14. The Axon 3 is way softer and less durable vs the Kinvara Pwrrun foam in regards to the ground contact abrasion. Hence the slab of xt600 on the bottom of the Axon3. Would be interesting to see how the novablast 3 vs 4 compares over simular milage.
what's particularly interesting to me is that I understood PWRRun PB to be castor bean based. Doesn't that mean it was already a bio based product? and then this year, they introduced PWRRUN BIO+ which is corn based. why the emphasis in one line of products and not the other?
Awesome review - I am looking forward to these a lot. Unlike many I was not blown away by the Novablast - was quite unimpressed by the 1 and 2 - I enjoy the 3 but for me it was a good Daily trainer for sure but not the best... I love the new 1080 ( really havent liked any since v10) so I am really interested to check these out
Thanks for the great content. Just picked up a pair of Novablast 3 TR for under £90 and looking forward to running in them. Might pick up Some of these when price drops - never buy full retail!
come on man, im just feeling better with my boston 12 purchase and then you come out with this... sheesh man ^_^ shoe looks good hope it also feels good
I hope they haven't changed too much and that they come in a less flashy colors. This (well the TR version) is my to-go walking/travel shoe. Especially on trips where I travel light, the multipurpose (walking and running) function is worth it's weight in gold. And pretty durable too! But your info about the 4 is really encouraging, probably will pick up a pair.
the novablast 3 ended up being offered in an almost silly amount colors, many of which I really liked. I haven't seen any of the upcoming colors, but I'm hoping for the same with the 4
Running shoes are very personal and different for every runner, bought novablast 3 based on reviews, and unfortunately didn't agree with the shoe at all - to soft and mushy for me - donated it.. It's a skill to learn to be able to understand how different reviewers would translate the shoe to yourself... Good review as usual mate 👍
Also magic speed 3 having the same foam as nova 3 - it's surprising how good this shoe feel for me .. same foam but with carbon and it's completely different foam experience
In Canada the Novablast 3 is still the same price as when it was related, sadly. Granted I wouldn't be surprised if the 4 won't be available in Canada until several months after it's US release, just like last year.
Looks like they made the outsole grippier which was my main complaint with the 3. I know some people bought the TR version just for that reason. Then again, I have the Puma DN2 for running on wet leaves these days. Colorway seems like a step backwards, and the longevity of the Eco foam remains to be seen. Let's see if ASICS can actually get these on the shelves in a timely fashion. It was well into spring before I started to see the 3 last year.
I keep hearing from a minority of people who express grip concerns with the novablast. but in all iterations and regardless of how wet conditions are, I've not experienced it 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve been training in my Nimbus 25’s & tried on the Novablast 3 at work today…love them! Based on this review, I’m going to get them & wait on the 4’s 🤔
Great review! I got my wife the Novablast 3 because of how much you hyped it and she loves them! I usually try to buy my shoes a year late so I get the discounts. 😂😂
Love the review and the channel Kofuzi!! Not crazy about anthropomorphizing shoe foams though-“Not as eager to go quickly”. Giving you a little bit of a friendly jab there 😊
Thanks for the video! Looks like they used the updated details from the Novablast 3 LE but with the traditional upper fabric from the regular Novablast 3.
Thanks for the comparisons. I would like to buy the Novoblast 3 in certain colourways but Asics UK has stopped restocking them and it has been difficult to source it from other reputable sports shops in the UK too. I do feel that we have fewer choices in the UK.
One of my favorites from the past years. Currently using the Novablast 2 pairing with Rincon 3 and Adios 6/7. Can´t wait to get a pair of NB3 and later the 4s.
The last 4 pairs of shoes I’ve bought on your recommendation and my running and experiences have improved significantly. Been waiting for this video, checking regularly. Thanks for everything you put out, massive value for me x
Nice review. Loved the 3. I feel like the Novablast 4 is releasing a little bit too soon. Sometimes I feel like there aren’t enough runs you can do before actually needed to get the new model. Wish running companies would do every 2 years as opposed to 12-15 months with a new model.
Don’t feel compelled to buy a shoe because a new one exists. Get what you need an enjoy your running. For some people, a yearly release might not be relevant. But other people go through shoes more quickly
Love the NB3. The lining at the heel where my achilles is, tears very fast. I do not notice it when running but when I take them you feel it and see it. Maybe the new "heelflare" will help with that. 😊
Great review! Novablast 2 & 3 were comfy and fun but definitely not perfect for my foot strike. The center pod that gives the shoe it's unique dynamics usually ended up irritating my feet. That feeling does go away after racking up 200+ miles in them. A fun shoe but probably won't pick up the 4.
I've been running in the NB3 this fall as a daily trainer and the Nimbus 25 as my recovery shoe. The Hoka Rocket 2 is my race shoe so far this season, although I've been eying the Meta Edge. I have about 230 miles on the Clifton 9 and the outsole is worn out in spots almost to the midsole. The midsole is also starting to feel a little dead.
I'm probably around 250 kms. with my NB3 and I'm still gonna wait for another six months and more reviews for for the NB4. Hope this one does not disappoint!
Thanks for the solid review. I’m disappointed or sad that the Novablast evolution is growing away from the fun and versatile ride of v1. Since I just purchased 1080, I’ll wait till these go on sale . Cheers!
Nice review! The launch colorways leave a lot to be desired imo and I'm not enamored with the size of the heel crash pad, but at least Asics didn't cancel the model entirely!
@@michaeltanel3815 and the all-Lime here is much better than the other three launch options on the Asics store. I’ll cross my fingers for the spring refresh!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights on these shoes, Mike! I enjoy the hearing the words "pace versatility" paired together and I agree it's the best way to describe the NovaBlast 3. Also, I'm curious if you've heard anything on whether Asics will make the TR version of the NovaBlast again?
I’m a huge Novablast fan. I put 750km in my Novablast 1, 500km each in two Novablast 2 and now I have 600km in Novablast 3 and 882km in my Novablast 3 TR. I’ve been super hyped about Novablast 4 and I’m happy we finally got more info, but I’m seriously worried about FF Blast+ Eco. I more or less hated it in Nimbus 25, it felt dead, harder and without any life whatsoever compared to my beloved FF Blast+. As a fan I will buy Novablast 4, but I already have a feeling I won’t like it as much as Novablast 3. Probably my big hopes this year will be on Superblast 2, I have about 800km in my original Superblast and love that shoe, especially since FF Turbo just gets better over time while FF Blast+ gets worse over time, but still nothing beats a fresh pair of FF Blast+. Non-Eco that is 😊
Oh man, I was really hoping for the 4 to have a little more pop or springy-ness under foot than the 3. I liked the 3’s a lot but they needed more support under foot for longer runs and they were definitely slow. Great for easy runs but i gauged RPE vs the endorphin 3 and they ran 20 seconds slower at the exact same RPE. Gonna have to pick up a bunch of 3’s then
I’m still a fan of regular FFBlast. I like the Nimbus 25, but the NB1 and NB2 were amazing. NB3 didn’t “wow” me like the first 2. I still run in the NB1’s.
Ive had every Novablast. 2 Pairs of the Number 2 has some issues after a few hundred KM with bump forming on the sole that you can feel on your sole but the rest have been amazing. I still use the number 1 time to time and it has 600+km on it
so far, it seems like the odd number versions get fun and maybe a bit unstable (in a good way?) and then the even number years reign things back in a bit
Currently trying to decide between waiting it out for these or picking up the 1080 v13s, so it was interesting to hear you say they match up/compare pretty close to one another.
You didn’t mention the biggest change - the platform is 5 mm wider than V3. The wide platform improves stability (better for easy paces) but makes the shoe less agile (worse for fast paces)
Wow, we have a Novablast 4 review already, thanks! I think I'm gonna burn more miles on the Peg 39 and Triumph 20 for now, possibly until the Rebel v4, Speed 4 (and an overhauled Peg 41 maybe?) release to see if they made any substantial changes worth considering. The NB3 is certainly an option I'm looking at and, hopefully, should go down in price by then.
Seems like alot of brands' "sequels' are striving towards softening up their midsoles. I wonder up to what point will it be TOO soft in terms of affecting durability and stability ?
Very informative review, thanks. I assume Asics requested that all influencers release reviews today. My feed also has RW, BITR, Emily Heller, Doctors.
it's kind of the inverse, but I think its an important distinction. we can release videos any time we want, but no earlier than today. the simultaneity is a reflection of our collective excitement as a counterpoint, I get gps watches with embargoes all the time. but I rarely find it compelling to produce a video for the embargo lift day
I'll probably wait for another colorway. Didnt know you have an Asics merch. Just saw BITR review and Robbe was wearing a black Asics shirt with Kofuzi logo.
Loved every version of the Novablast but then I developed Metatarsalgia in my left foot three months ago. I'm recovered from the Metatarsalgia but since then the Novablast 'trampoline' feels like a pea under the ball of the foot and aggravates the injury so no Novablast for me ever again. 😢
sorry to hear that. and if staying away from Novablast keeps you running pain free, then by all means, continue with that. but for what it's worth, I feel less trampoline effect in this shoe. I suspect it's due to the foam change
But is it better then the Deviate Nitro 2? Because that shoe just blew me away and left my novablast 3 catching dust. I also feel that i bottomed out the 3 quite quickly and didn't return to it. Is the Novablast 4 even more bouncy then the 3? Because the 3 was already super soft. Lowkey i think superblast is still the way to go.
Novablast 3 just felt dead and dull to me after the first 50k or so. So I picked up the Nimbus 25 and loved them. Love the midsole design of the Novablast 4 though! But it would have to feel a lot different to the 3 for me to want to try them out.
@@boboiboy9350 yeh I found them pretty durable. Can’t say there would be much difference in durability between the two though, but I demoted my nimbus to my walking shoes after 600km or so, I got the grey colourway with the navy accents, so can get away with them as daily casual wear, so that’s a bonus 😅
Never in my life have I clicked on a video so fast. I had a metatarsal stress fracture all summer and it's finally healed up, just in time to get back into things with the new Novablasts!

Same here, but I sold the Nimbus and kept the NB3 (TR). It is an unbelieveable versatile shoe.
This shoe looks so good. ASICS has been bringing the heat in their 2023-24 lineup. Cannot wait for this and the superblast
This selfishly makes me feel better as I purchased the Novablast 3 a couple weeks ago and am really enjoying its versatility. Cheers Ko✌
the good news is that the 3 is still on sale at a discount but then when that runs out, the 4 is also an excellent shoe
Your Review is always set at benchmark for any other Review to be The Best, Great Review Mike as Usual. Cant wait to Review My NB4 too 😊
Can't wait for Superblast 2! 😉
Same!
SB2 should only be an update to the upper this year, so it might be worth picking up the first on sale instead.
I’m hoping SB1 gets restocked and put on sale
When is it coming?
Nah I think they need to just keep it how it is. Don’t fix what’s not broken.
Asics Novablast 3 are my go-to shoes of the year, they have about 800 km on them and I will continue to use them until I get my hands on 4's. From the original to v3, every iteration got better, hopefully 4 will continue the same trend.

I commented this elsewhere, but we in Canada never see a good Asics sale. Such a shame, I end up dominantly in Adidas and NBs.
Glad to hear you’ve got a combo that is working for you!
for me the NovaBlast3TR is my favorite for long run... thanks for the influance😄
it's a good shoe
Great review! I got my wife the Novablast 3 because of how much you hyped it and she loves them! I usually try to buy my shoes a year late so I get the discounts. 😂😂
Your novablast reviews are swaying me to buy because I have yet to try them!! And I'm in nyc so.... hmmm might have to make a mad dash for them 😅
Love my Novablast 3 and 4. Aloha brother Kofuzi 🤙
Yo
Love the review and the channel Kofuzi!! Not crazy about anthropomorphizing shoe foams though-“Not as eager to go quickly”. Giving you a little bit of a friendly jab there 😊
Thanks for the video!
Looks like they used the updated details from the Novablast 3 LE but with the traditional upper fabric from the regular Novablast 3.
Maybe if you’re only looking at the upper
Of course, i was mostly referring to the visuals. color, the achilles and pull tab. Would be fun to see a comparison between the two.
Damnit Ko, your videos make me want to go out and run again.
if you've got the time, go for it!
Thanks for the comparisons. I would like to buy the Novoblast 3 in certain colourways but Asics UK has stopped restocking them and it has been difficult to source it from other reputable sports shops in the UK too. I do feel that we have fewer choices in the UK.
Awesome review. And I especially love your solo video making skills🎉.
thank you 🙏
One of my favorites from the past years. Currently using the Novablast 2 pairing with Rincon 3 and Adios 6/7. Can´t wait to get a pair of NB3 and later the 4s.
hope you enjoy!
@@kofuzi thanks! sure I do. Looking good for my 2024 rotation.
Wow! New model 4 looks wild 🙌🏻💫
J.
The last 4 pairs of shoes I’ve bought on your recommendation and my running and experiences have improved significantly. Been waiting for this video, checking regularly. Thanks for everything you put out, massive value for me x
that's great to hear that you've been enjoying your running more!
Color is sick! Love it!:)
Great review!! Can’t wait to try them out! Thanks!
hope you enjoy!
I'm probably around 250 kms. with my NB3 and I'm still gonna wait for another six months and more reviews for for the NB4. Hope this one does not disappoint!
happy running!
Thanks for the solid review. I’m disappointed or sad that the Novablast evolution is growing away from the fun and versatile ride of v1. Since I just purchased 1080, I’ll wait till these go on sale . Cheers!
so far, the pattern seems to be to have a wild shoe one year and then a more controlled version the next
@@kofuzi here for v5 then! 🙏🏼
Nice review! The launch colorways leave a lot to be desired imo and I'm not enamored with the size of the heel crash pad, but at least Asics didn't cancel the model entirely!
that's a nice silver lining to draw
Agreed on the colourway. I'd really prefer something less monochromatic.
@@michaeltanel3815 and the all-Lime here is much better than the other three launch options on the Asics store. I’ll cross my fingers for the spring refresh!
Will be getting NB 4 for slow jogging and long hours standing and walking
Cheers
Defintely tempted of trying a novoblast shoe but i will stick with nimbus 25 for now as i continue to recover from knee injuries 😢
hope you get back to 100% soon!
Wowww..thanks for the earlier update NB4
thanks for watching!
Non-Eco that is 😊
I can’t unsee the hole in the Endorphin Elite now that I have seen the Serious Runner’s review 😂
Getting the NB4 for morning jogs and long hours of standing and walking.
Cheers
Thanks a lot dude!
thanks for watching!
Amped for this shoe! I’ve had 3 pair of the novablast 3. Wish the launch colorways were a bit better, but that comes with time.
the novablast 3 ended up with like 20 color options
@@kofuzi and the super duper bright ones were awesome! Still wear my retired highlighter yellows
Great review!
1281 KM as of today on my NOVABLAST 3, I think I'm not ready to upgrade, yet. It still feels great.
Great to hear!
I still run in the NB1’s.
i still run in the OGs from time to time lol, love em, cant kill em.
Thanks for the great review. Got a pair of Novablast 3 for 76$ for cyber sales :D
Currently trying to decide between waiting it out for these or picking up the 1080 v13s, so it was interesting to hear you say they match up/compare pretty close to one another.
if your running enough to justify it, get both. one now and the other later.
I like the way you think! @@kofuzi
You didn’t mention the biggest change - the platform is 5 mm wider than V3. The wide platform improves stability (better for easy paces) but makes the shoe less agile (worse for fast paces)
you're the second person to mention this to me. at which point is it 5mm wider? I did not perceive a change in width
@@kofuzi RoadTrailRun reports that the platform is 5 mm wider at the heel and the forefoot
I’m a Clifton fan I love the FAN factor for a shoe. The Clifton lose the fan factor with the use and I’m considering the Novablast as a change 🤔.
Looking forward to the Novablast 3 sales. My twos are still doing the trick so looking forward to some bargains
Still waiting! They've never really gone on sale in aus
This is a nice long term plan for summer 2024, it seems
Hopefully I can endure long enough and not fall prey to the temptation of shiny new running shoes. Only 400 more miles to go! @@kofuzi
Seems like alot of brands' "sequels' are striving towards softening up their midsoles. I wonder up to what point will it be TOO soft in terms of affecting durability and stability ?
I tell brands regularly,
"hurt my ankles. then, you will be on to something"
I’ve been waiting
thanks!
Very informative review, thanks. I assume Asics requested that all influencers release reviews today. My feed also has RW, BITR, Emily Heller, Doctors.
it's kind of the inverse, but I think its an important distinction. we can release videos any time we want, but no earlier than today. the simultaneity is a reflection of our collective excitement
as a counterpoint, I get gps watches with embargoes all the time. but I rarely find it compelling to produce a video for the embargo lift day
@@kofuzi Got it, thanks for the insight.
Nova Blast is awesome shoes
I'll probably wait for another colorway. Didnt know you have an Asics merch. Just saw BITR review and Robbe was wearing a black Asics shirt with Kofuzi logo.
the color I have is quite bold
It's a gorgeous shoe. I hope I have running in them.
Hopefully this comes in a wide. Not hopeful, but really enjoy my clifton 9s because of the width options with Hoka.
Curious about when or if a superblast 2… really have loved the superblast
Saucony Ride 17 with pwrrun + will be a good daily trainer when it comes out
Loved every version of the Novablast but then I developed Metatarsalgia in my left foot three months ago.
Lowkey i think superblast is still the way to go.
it's a great question that will be answered in my Shoe of the Year video
Novablast 3 just felt dead and dull to me after the first 50k or so. So I picked up the Nimbus 25 and loved them.
Love the midsole design of the Novablast 4 though! But it would have to feel a lot different to the 3 for me to want to try them out.
I'm glad you found something that is really working for you in the Nimbus 25!
the nimbus last you better than the nb
@@boboiboy9350 yeh I found them pretty durable. Can’t say there would be much difference in durability between the two though, but I demoted my nimbus to my walking shoes after 600km or so, I got the grey colourway with the navy accents, so can get away with them as daily casual wear, so that’s a bonus 😅
looks sick 🔥👌
Just purchased the NB Fresh Foam X V13 1080, based on your review, so thanks for these videos!
hope you enjoy!
