Come on Terminator Salvation was enjoyable. Sound design was great, Casting was great and Marcus was a cool character.
By erasing John, they also erased Sarah's importance. Also, erased is the message of the original film of motherhood and hope.

This film is about individuality which is a stupid reason because she didnt earned it that much all she did was giving em hope in one scene but thats not enough a leader does leader things which is why John in T2 came up with the idea on destroying Skynet before inception in their timeline.

Point the movie is trying to make is that judgement day is inevitable. John connor isnt important anymore because the actions in t2 stopped that version of judgement day. Man will continue to create an artificial intelligence that will eventually become judgement day and the human race will always win in the end. "Human created it, humans can destroy it" Grace made it clear in the movie. John dies in the beginning because he is no longer important. They destroyed the arm and chip in t2. No more skynet = no more john Conner leader of resistance caus it never happened.

Killing off John Connor in the opening scene had me thinking they were going to take it in a new and interesting direction... but we ultimately just get Connor and Skynet surrogates which made it all meaningless.

I don´t think so. I wouldn´t say "meaningless". It´s just another timeline now with different protagonists. "Surrogates", I do agree with that. However I think, this film gets harsher criticism than it actually deserves because of nostalgia goggles. I mean, I understand that it´s a franchise, but I kind of enjoy a slightly different angle within the same story. I´m a sci-fi geek. I like Doctor Who (well, not currently, but in the past), I enjoyed Final Fantasy 13-2, I actually enjoyed Genisys, but I think this one, Dark Fate is such much more well crafted. I actually enjoyed all the characters and if you really think about it, the plot actually makes sense, too and is a very interesting sort of different perspective. I would be bummed out, if this will actually be the last one of the series...
I actually think, Joe sums it up perfectly from 21:27 on. I would totally agree with that. Although I probably enjoyed the whole thing more than Joe did, because I´m also not that nostalgic about the whole franchise. T1 is still my favorite BY FAR....
After watching Dark Fate, I have a new found respect and appreciation for Salvation. It had it's problems for sure, but at least it tried something different, and actually attempted to move the story forward instead of recycling the same plot line over and over again.
I actually liked salvation when I was younger and still do, but I could tell by the trailers these new ones we're gonna be ass, didn't even bother watching them LoL
I've always loved Terminator salvation, sure it's not Perfect. it's at least the 3rd best terminator movie in the franchise you gotta admit

Never understood the massive hate boner people had for Salvation, it aint perfect but it was a nice step into the future war many wanted to see , i guess its something similar to Star Wars where many hated the prequels with passion, chatised Lucas for ruining the franchise and literally thoughy anyone could do a better job, actually celebrates when Disney bought the franchise only to see how much worse it got , i see a similar case here where it took films this bad for some people to question why other movies were "bad"

Two ironies: They made a token gender switch and sitting right there is Linda Hamilton/Sarah Connor, one of THE earliest badass female characters I can remember. Like we've already done this - and properly too. Second: They mock "your womb is important, not you', but that is precisely part of what made T2 great - Mother's tenacious defense of what comes out of that womb - her son. In comparison, New Female Lead Character has no emotional hook with the audience. She wants to be ME - NOW - not live in a mineshaft - end of story. Well that story isn't remotely in the same league as Sarah Connor's story.

I personally wish that the order of the films would have just been T1, T2, Terminator Salvation, then another future war film that continued the battle against Skynet with an absolute ending with some epic final battle against all of the remaining humans Vs all of Skynet lol I believe that would have been perfect 😂

I actually feel like these are VERY different scenarios. Hicks and Newt were (amazing) side-characters, but NEVER the core of the franchise story. I actually loved the shocker of their deaths, as it was brutally realistic, even though I absolutely loved and missed their characters, it felt like an actual plot development, instead of a “how can we make a sequel?” Scenario, like Dark Fate does. In this franchise though, John Conner has ALWAYS been the absolute key to the series, even if Sarah is technically the protagonist.
So basically, I agree with your point, even if I view it a different way.

Name an interesting thing about John Connor.
He's not even a character he's always just been a plot device, a super weak plot device. His death scene was stupid but the series should never have hinged on him so much.
It's pretty much the same as the Skywalkers in Star Wars. They don't own The Force and yet the movies constantly have to be about them, even though The Force doesn't work like that.
Both franchises have desperately needed to move on and so have the fanbases, nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

The worst part is, they essentially negated the importance of John Connor. Essentially, what happens is if you kill John Connor, you still get Judgement Day but someone else will be the savior, thereby negating its importance and makes Skynet/Legion's efforts pointless.

@@Lirka_906 Skynet sending these multiple terminators kinda contradicts Terminator 1 when Kyle explicitly says that it is only he and T-800 which have travelled through time. But that's also has been retconned by T2, so I guess it is hard to complain.

I think Hollywood only makes movies for China and certain over sea's markets. They no longer care about Home team. 80's 90's were different. Movies had good story's and CGI was used as touch ups, not entire movies. sad
they will still be humanoid because AI wants to infiltrate humans in a way of maximum efficiency to kill them...the a i. wouldn't need blue prints and would create terminators that looked like humans still because it would still come to the same conclusions that skynet did....
@@triomonkey666 maximum efficiency would be chemical warfare. Or go to the past were weapons are no match for them. There still is no way, part by part the machines being the same. The rev-9 has no bio tissue to match humans. like the rubber units, it would be spotted by the dogs. skynet got by, using living tissue.
Skynet had help by having a 70% intact CPU being reversed engineered. Legion forms on it's own from software. There ideals would be 100% different.. if someone told 5 people, to build a house. you would get 5 different houses.. it would be a house, but very different from each other.
I had a small problem with the T-800 also: when Skynet sends them out, they are only read-only CPU settings. He had no way of switching himself, to achieve learning new things. his skynet programming, would have him shut down in a safe place. Shut down and wait for judgement-day. His model would be very advance at the start of the war, and useful vs humans.
After seeing Dark Fate I now have a new appreciation for Rise of the Machines way more, along with Salvation.

Yes Cameron can established that death by giving us an adult version of john working with his mom to help Dani and Grace but they gave us a pointless death in Dark Fate.

Spider-Man’s organic web-shooters in the Raimi films were also Cameron’s idea.
Wait, so if all the Terminators had the ability to have emotions based from this movie. Well then what was the f**king point of removing the inhibitor chip in T-2? They already had a reason as to not go beyond their programming, so unless Skynet wanted a bunch of emotional, liabilities to themselves left in the past who could one day possibly want to stop Skynet because of their grief/regret, with all their knowledge and skills with no backup plans then Skynet just killed themselves.
How would Skynet know that their AI would develop that way though? They only live in their present, they have no way of knowing how the past could affect their machines.
An AI can't really cover all bases. The whole series is pretty dumb anyway I don't know why people take each plot point so seriously.
Like is Skynet stupid? Of course it is, it could literally just send one T-1000 back to cosplay as the President or other pivotal individuals and start WW3 that way.
Shut your mind off and just stare at the screen it is the best way to enjoy this movie!
The inhibitor is from a deleted scene, in T2 is clear that terminators learn more when they pass time with humans, nevertheless Uncle Bob(t-800 from t2) is reprogramed by the resistance so is parameters are to obey John and he commanded to be more human. The premissed of this movie is that when there are no more Skynet any T-800 are free. Which is kind of stupid, one of the subplots is that in t1 the t-800 help the humans to create skynet by his microchip...

If John Connor dies in this film it makes no sense and I won't watch it. Therefore, in my universe, there are still only two Terminator films - T1 and T2.
I can appreciate John being replaced if Judgment Day gets pushed back to the 2040s, but he'd only be like 40 in 2020. John Connor should have been the mentor character passing along his own torch.

In T3 the Terminator told John that he killed him. So its all just a plot about Timetravel and possible Effects of it. Every Terminator had another Actor playing John. The only shitty thing is the showing of the killing of john. Just like it was edited on a fullrush in 2min. And the execution also sucked cause instead of just blowing johns head off with his shotgun he shoots him in his chest so they can still have a joker - yeah john survived this attack in the next movie cause nobody wanna see the politic motivated "female hero" and "legion" shit.

The Rev-9 was constantly getting his ass whooped. Main protagonists were overpowered in that regard. Linda Hamilton seemed so out of place.. she just didn’t seem like a main character.
Even with this jacked up rewritten storyline it could have been masterful if done properly. I like some of the ideas. But killing off the most important character and introducing 2 more new ones and bringing back 2 originals from 3 decades ago doesn’t write the wrong

Dark Fate just plays on this, saying; "John is no longer needed in the future, so now he can grow old and live a care-free life, just like Sarah wanted in T2". Then BAM, he is murdered pointlessly by a terminator. Sarah won over Skynet, at the cost of her only son. So you see, it was never John's story, it was Sarah's. Which, to be honest, should be quite obvious.
So, Dark Fate is an ending (and a new beginning) for Sarah. It's an ending because Skynet is no more, and the last remnants died with Carl. It's also a beginning because she needs to prepare Dani for a new future. And, again, tbh, Legion fits better as a comment on todays digital life than Skynet does. Skynet was a communist scare stand in, where Skynet nuked the world. Legion is a surveillance/digital tracing scare, whereas humanity nuked the world to kill it.

The 4-5 star user reviews that are being posted in 1-2 minute increments by “verified” reviewers with generic names and no avatars is highly suspicious. I think the studios have found a way to game the user reviews. Either that or Tencent is trying somehow to recoup their initial 10% budget investment.

I watched Terminator Dark Fate today with my dad. The things liked about the movie are the action scenes and the one thing I don’t like about the movie is that they killed John Connor.

I always loved Salvation aswell...Terminator Salvation was ment to lead into the big 2029 Future War with further seqeuls but the so called ''fans'' ruined that chance by review bombing the movie at the time...Terminator Salvation wasnt perfect but it atleast broke the series free from this standard chase movie/timetravel formula which we have seen mulitple times now and they also had badass and fresh new designs for the machines in the future.

Year 2042, Dani is now older, she's in a laboratory hi-tech workshop, (mid shot): we see her talking to someone, instructing this person... seconds later, a blue sparking electric lighting appears and swallows this dark figure person... Jump shot back in time: 1997, we see a young Sarah and John Connor enjoying themselves at a beach bar, this is the same opening scene... (cut scene), a large man is approaching them with his weapon, we recall whats about to happen... All of a sudden! another person trashes through from around the bar and yelling out, we recognize her, its Grace!... she's holding a basketball size stainless steel type future weapon with a strong magnetic flat surface, Grace forcefully sticks the weapon onto the T800 upper chest, and at the same time striking with a powerful kick blow sending the machine plunging backward onto the sand... The chest weapon explodes causing the T800's chest and head to melt in red molten fire!.... (Scene moves the audience to a heartfelt emotion), Grace approaches both Sarah and John and says (all time pickup line)... Come with me if you want to live!... End credits.

Did anyone expect this movie to be good? The whole time travel thing is just old and worn out. All films like this and Star Wars and Alien etc can do is desperately try to recapture the magic of the originals. I have to agree with the Critical Drinker, these new movies just rely on nostalgia instead of good storytelling to carry them. I'm glad I haven't been to a theater in 8 years. I feel like I've missed nothing.

@@deathsdollar2606 That's true but I saw all 23 of them when they came out on Blu Ray. After all you only have to wait a few months and they are out on streaming or disc. I used to go to the theater at least twice a month so I'm not some guy who never went but as my set up got better and better,just paid $1500 for a Denon Ave X4400H with amp for 15 speakers and an entire Atmos set up,I felt less need to go to a theater. I'm not bragging,just pointing out the fact that almost anyone now can have a really good movie experience in the comfort of your home with friends and family instead of a mob of people. Back in the day when you had a small Curtis Mathis tv with crappy sound the theater was an great place to be but after I saw The Tree of Life in an art house theater in Chicago I wondered why I even bothered anymore. One of the best experiences I had in a theater was seeing Aliens on opening night,not much is gonna top that.

Or had Michel Dyson Jr be the creator of this new AI named Legion which is a even better Idea. Also have his wife be the military contact for Sarah. In my rewrite they remade Skynet but she began to learn at a rate not yet seen by others and John being the president asks to speak to Skynet after learning they remade it. They form a bond of some short like sister and brother bond and Sky net beings to understand more humans emotions. Then Legion is developed by another corporation by Michel and Danni’s character and shit happens. Sky net or Skylar even becomes a hybrid in my version which takes it further and tries to at least be in line with the lore of the show and brings in some comics to it as well.
All we need now is Terminator Vs. Predator and the franchise tank will be complete!

Watching this I just realized the plot hole that annoys me the most. You expect me to believe that 2 sepperated technological super powers invent 2 different War Robots that look exactly the same 30ish years apart from eachother? In T2 the whole reason they melt Arnold is so that nobody can develop technology from him, so I assume then that legion found one of the several terminators Sarah has been killing and just decide, “yep! Shiny skeleton man is the best underlying form factor for my robots that use nanotechnology to make stabby knife hands... also, let me give them some centaur legs”
Dosent seem like a very effecient killing machine. When the whole gambit of possibility is open to you because your a AI super computer bent on killing all humans.
From the original lore skynet and the first batch of terminators were made by humans running machines, so a human form factor and they’re goofy mass produced look makes sense no problem. I would have loved to see a skynet terminator fight a completely different style of “terminator” assassin bot. Grace in her own time line could call them assassins or kill-bots or anything but she says distinctly “terminator”

a 5/10 is an average, but still playable game

8-9/10 is something you absolutely cant miss, almost perfect with 1 or two things holding it back from perfection
10/10 is basically unachievable because it means absolutely flawless.
@@benmasta5814 The real key here is that movie critics are afraid to rate anything below a 5 or else they might stop getting invited to rate movies and see them before anyone else. Or stop receiving many of the other "favors" they receive from the industry. Same reason you see video game critics bend over backwards to rate shitty games far more favorably than the community rates them, for fear they might lose access to the tools that make their job possible. For some reason, people still take professional critics seriously when the majority of them are not worth their salt. I prefer to go to someone who isn't afraid to tell it how it is like Angry Joe. Sometimes brutally honest for better or for worse, but absolutely necessary. Not just some boot licker that comforts the businessmen and tells them they are pretty when they strut around wearing trash just to remain in their good graces. If a company stops sending them review copies or refuses to do business with an honest critic, then they aren't worth my money either I say.
