Ford 2.0 eco blue engine: wet belt issues with shredding or breaking and fuel injector faults. V6 engine derived from old Land Rover unit renowned for crankshafts snapping. At least the owners will be able to sit in comfort in the ‘well appointed cabin’ while waiting for the tow truck and checking their current bank balance before repairs.
These 2 will still be going when the Ranger is in the Workshop. 🎉🎉 This was a comparison you should have not mentioned the Ranger. Why not do an article on how many Rangers have issues. Have owned both of these 2 and Hilux everday, as you get to drive it everyday
It’s a no-brainer really - I’m driving a 2010 Hilux now after upgrading from my 2002 model which was always reliable and brilliant off-road but wanted to go with the auto diesel - Isuzu is OK but I’d rather go with the Triton if budget constraints dictated my choice for sheer off-road ability - wouldn’t touch a unreliable Ford that only a bogun could love with a barge pole especially with overheating transmissions, failing of the fully digital instrument panel and coming to a full stop from 80km which is a worry just check out A Current Affair - I’ll choose Toyota every time to get there and back with confidence.
Own a July > dmax 2020. 100,000kms. Not one issue bar a leaky diff they were skeptical about on the 75000km service so fixed under warranty (they may just have wanted to look good). Beautiful to drive on the road as it is my work car. 115km/h sitting at 1750rpm. It really is a nice ute.
Well, farmers in the UK always had the old defenders, now the majority seem to have D Max’s I think that says it all really, the Ford engines let them down, I would get the Ford if its reliability was better, most Rangers or indeed 4x4’s in the UK never go off road, my money goes with the Isuzu for reliability and peace of mind.
I have the new Hilux as a work car and the previous dmax as my daily. The fuel economy is absolutely terrible compared to the Isuzu! I can't speak for the current shape but I'd imagine it would be way better than the hilux in real life. I'm talking like a 300klm difference
That's a pretty fair assessment. One aspect to consider that is missing is the long-term reliability of the motor. In this Isuzu wins. Toyota are having some real issues at the moment. they had to go back to their old 2.8 engine because the 3.0 was crap, (don't mention Tacoma). Despite toyotas problem here, Ford rates even worse!
Unfortunately , the Ranger has more "issues" & ford won't match the other two when it comes to honouring a quick - hassle fee warranty claim. Toyota wins on Oz wide service & spares availability for travellers.
I'd have difficulties choosing between the two as they are the two options that I'd choose from. Both are strong and reliable.both the Amarok and Ranger are beautiful in the interior and according to the journalist they are also comfortable with a plush ride and are strong but now since they are both the same thing that's not enough only due to reliability.
Go for Dmax, coz they had a strong transmission and engine uses Timing gear. Hilux is Timing chain but hikux is also a good choice. But for me, i'll go for Dmax.
When will people stop believing all the BS about reliability that both Toyota and Isuzu keep rabbiting on about. The Hilux is certainly nothing like it was for reliability prior to 2000 they are no better than Isuzu Ford or Mitsubishi. Now for the reliability that Isuzu would have you believe most people have the notion that these are made in the same as the Isuzu trucks in the same factory well they are from different factories and there are many failures on the D max there is even a class action for the front of the engine bay cracking and needing extensive work. The facts are easy to find there are government records on these utes and the reliability of all the top ones are very similar.
These are very small yearly cosmetic changes. Good to see a very close to close comparison that was well delivered. But the Ford ranger is a generational change.
save ya money n get a 80/105 series Landcruiser or a gu/gq patrol if you want a proper off-road 4wd they might be old but they will out live all these new rangers/amarok/hilux/dmax ect. and that $30-40k you save on car price is a lot of fuel and beer for fun times
heavyweight contenders, you missing another two significant others. As for that Hilux, it's saturated with updates nobody wants. We all know what really lacking from the Hilux

Because your average person buys into the hype, and fails to do any research or critical thinking. Remember your average person is not all that bright.
Toyota sponsored add again no mention of the fact Dmax has a 2020 ancap with a structure that exceeds the old Hilux that’s been rushed through under the 2019 ancap test rather than the 2020 test, profit over safety toyota, carsales pushing the unsafe option.
Isuzu got the most assist gadgets, out last all the others pity they did not bother to Include cabin adjustable head lights, that said pretty, inside better than others seats excellent, lift kit needs to be fitted, by the pro, as issues with body movement, fuel economy, good, sorry bit late to the party.
Sir, u compare hilux and isuzu buttt how come the ford ranger become must in the list... Hahah... Actually ford will bring you into shop list every time..😂

You forgot to mention the most important thing. The long walk home when the ranger keeps breaking down.

At least it has the 2020 ancap crash test unlike Hilux
remap soon ?
the reason Toyota doesn’t have such up to date tech is because of reliability. As we know, the more tech, the more it breaks down.
And they charge more for less
The special mention on the Ranger actually ruined your credibility. The Ranger is a more refined and advanced shit box.
i like everything about u
Is that you John?🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Hilux should be sold with a disclaimer in South Africa which should say "Buy at Your Own Risk" because there's a 90% chance of you losing it.

Isuzu engine will outlast hilux
nice joke 😂
Only because nobody drives it.
@@aquafishsoup so true 😂
also Toyota owns Isuzu 💀

D Max all the way.
Ford ranger is a mistake waiting for a tow truck .

Anyone have a DMAX What they like reliable are they like ranger break a lot any info greatly appreciated
Tested both Izuzu all the way
No idea why u guys pushed the ford! People who loves the hilux and the dmax are not even gonna consider a ford😂!
Ford gets pushed because Ford pays them too.
Annoying just the same.
Isuzu with you for the long run 👍🏻😉
There are a lot of reviews showing that the Isuzu needs to up their 4x4 capabilities.
right, 4x4 is meaning some kind of offroad ability
Bit of an editing mistake when talking about the Hilux having the optional leather pack and then showing the leather seats of the D-Max!
There were other errors too, but it got there in the end.
Do the latest update... Dmax had another facelift April 2024 now with All Terrain mode on Dmax and 48v pack on the Toyota.... Do It 🎉

Mind you Isuzu needs to watch their sensor problems (just like Toyota and Ford).
At least the dmax will still have the same engine in 5 years time
5,10,15,20+++++ years !!!

They are both durable workhorse❤
The Ford Ranger is significantly more expensive plus it lacks longevity compared to Isuzu or Toyota
I have a Ford Ranger 22 plate as a company car and it shat it's first injector at 60K
These are very small yearly cosmetic changes. Good to see a very close to close comparison that was well delivered. But the Ford ranger is a generational change.
Tell me this video was sponsored by Ford without saying it was sponsored by Ford...🤣🤣🤣
Waiting for new isuzu 2024 and hilux 2024 hybrid
Where toyota will finally meet the current safety standards that Isuzu offers with the 2020 testing
It's not a Hilux hybrid.
It has some assistance from a 48v motor, but certainly not a hybrid.
Be interesting to see how it goes though.
Get a Ford ranger - see you in the shop.
for sure isuzu..i have use both model.
Hilux interior feels the nastiest..too much brittle plastics...
Ford range will bring u shop every time... Haha😂
So you are given more money than Ford. It is getting harder and harder to take these reviews seriously. It is more and more who pays the most

Ford ranger won’t last 80 thousand on the farm, while the Isuzu and Toyota will do 500 thousand with no gear box or engine problems

Toyota doesn’t meet the current 2020 safety standards like Dmax toyota rushed Hilux through 2019 tests so they don’t need to pay for a better upgrade.
I'm confused, if rangers are so bad why are they so popular I drive none of the three but the hilux only seems to be for Aussie bogans
Because your average person buys into the hype, and fails to do any research or critical thinking. Remember your average person is not all that bright.
When the Afghan Army start using them, then we know they are good!!!!!! Gona stick with Toyota!!!! Lol.
Is this bloke bias or what? Ranger fan boy. Easy to compare against another Ute 10 to 12k more. And minor but dmax does have wireless connection.
Isuzu D-MAX I like because of fuel economy only but Toyota Hilux I dont like at all, mitsubishi triton I like most, second Ford ranger
Bro sounds more Australian than Australia itself.
The Ford is way less reliable Pick up, so please stop EVEN mentioning oil leak ford
Me gusta toyota hilux para mi familia
Lo peor es eso... no se le ocurra poner en riesgo a su familia en una de esas latas con ruedas. Mil veces el Isuzu D-MAX sobre el Hilux !!!

How much did ford pay for this review ?
Ranger and Ram are undisputed king of this segments. Isuzu, hilux, tacoma, tundra, are small bothers of their😅😅😅😅
