Glad to see that you finally removed the green tie on your money tree, but now that you showed the repot i noticed the trunk tie below the soil level. You will want to remove that as well for the same reasons as the green tie up above
I didn’t care for that braided plant and was lucky enough to find a money tree with a solo thick trunk with a slight curve to it. Thanks for the great care tips! 😊
Dear Sir….. I platonically love you. I have too many plants because of you. And you make me mad a lot too… But I love you more than I’m upset with you. 😂😂😂😂 💛 Across the pond! 🇺🇸
Good Morning Mr Sheffield!! This video should help folks that have a Money Tree. As usual you give great advice and keep it all simple!! Can't wait to see your new home!! Have a great day!!
this video couldn't have come at a better time! my money tree thanks you! i've had it for almost a month now and i just did a 2nd repot on it. (been fighting root rot from possibly overwatering it once and one of the stems that was DOA rotted. had another stem starting to rot so i decided to just toss all of the old soil and put it in some new fresh soil today. i also chopped the stem that was rotting this time and am trying to see if it'll root - in its own separate pot, with the chop well above where the rot was. it still has leaves and it was putting out new growth before rot set in so i'm hoping it will come through!)
Thanks for your videos. My plants are healthy and looking good. Some I've had for a long time and some new. 2 of my newest are the money tree. I now use sybotanica soil mix, although more expensive than others, but real quality. I used to give them filtered water, I now give them filtered water with a drop of stress coat added. I used to have tropical fish and should have guessed stress coat would also be good for plants. So thanks for all your tips and hints.
I moved this Spring into a south-west facing apartment and unfortunately during Summer both my money plants started loosing their bottom leaves. It turned out they just hate temperatures above 30°C. The sun was hitting them sporadically and only in the late afternoon but they just couldn't cope with the heat. As soon as the weather cooled down they're happy again. Unfortunately they won't grow the bottom leaves back and so now they look kind of weird.
I been down sizing pots and save my plants like this and now i understand why my plants whys dying and why maybe my avocados looks so bad. Because they grow on top so big that i thought they need bigger pot right away. That's why my dad saying that you need to re pot then only in spring
Your money tree is beautiful. I wish I could have one, but I have such limited space another big plant is not on the table. So interesting to hear about them though.
Without knowing it better I have done everything right with my moneytrees. In 2 years the grew up to the ceiling! Now they are struggling though and I will try with changing the soil (and trimming them back as they got way too big)
Great timing with this video! I told my husband NOT to buy me anymore plants, as I don’t have anymore space. So what does he do? He buys me a 3 foot money tree! Good grief! 🤦🏽♀️ TFS, AllisonLP
Hi, I had three trunks go soft and lost them to rot. I'm still learning but I'm pretty sure I over watered him. The good news is the two surviving trunks, are growing. Peace.
So I had a money tree plant and it got sick, probably I overwatered it, and I took a cutting and restarted it. I only have one “trunk“ in the pot. After watching your video, I see that it is several plants together. Should I take a clipping from the one I started and try to get another trunk going?
Mr Sheffield, i need your advice! I have a schefflera (sp?) that used to be about 2.5 ft tall, about 2 ft in diameter, he was gorgeous! He started dropping leaves, i even bought him his own grow light, but it just keeps getting worse. There ine one healthy twig left now. Is there any saving him? Should i cut the remaining branch and try to root it? Thank you for listening.
i had my money tree for a year. when i bought it, it was 4 feet, now over 6 feet. it has many small offshoots coming out of the bottom of the trunks 3 inches above soil. Should I break off these little offshoots or just leave them.
I think you’re fabulous. My Money Tree has been with me 2 years , I’ve worked so hard to keep her growing. She is now, not quickly, but beautifully. I too love your humor. And your advice. I turn my baby but I never move her! So I am thinking i should take her outside and give her a shower. Fungus gnats were a gift because i Had to stop watering very much. I went through withdrawals, it was so hard for me to stop. I wait for signs that my sweet babies need water. Thank you
Have you ever done a video on an umbrella tree (schefflera) I have a single stem growing out of control so much that it's leaning over. I've heard you can "notch it" but can't find a great video. Need some good prop. Tips too... thanks!
Hey Mister Sheffield! You talk a lot about fertilizer in your videos but I’ve always wondered if it was mandatory? I know a plant shouldn’t be fertilized 6 months after being repotted because soil have nutrients. My plants are very happy even tho I don’t give them any fertilizer, I usually repotted them every year for new soil even if they dont need a size upgrade. Would I regret saving a few penny per year because i dont bother with fertilizer? I am planning to have more rare variegated plants in the future and I can’t find an answer for my question!
Money tree often tie under the soil where the roots are … The greeenhouse like to kill our plants 😅 Best NPK for general green plant 3-1-2! I like your humour🇨🇦💛
is there still hope for my leggy money tree.. it's under full sunlight, we live in a tropical country. i want to prune it but the brown woody part is about 2.3-3ft long , about half of its overall height😭can i just cut it and stick the cutting in back into the soil to grow?
Another great video with nice advise, i will remove the tie on my stem. One of my money tree is very leggy since i got him, if i prune it all the way to the bottom portion of stem thats green am assuming it should grow back correct. Have a wonderful weekend 🍻
Hello, new subscriber here. I’m desperate for help with my money tree please. It has these clear sticky droplets on its leaves and stems of leaves. Leaves turn yellow and dropping so fast. I wiped each leaf off with alcohol which helped temporarily. I don’t know what to do. It used to be like shown but it’s very sad looking now. Thank you for any advice ♥️
@@SheffieldMadePlants Thank you very much for your reply. I just wiped one and the cotton pad was left with tiny little brown (?) dots and yellow smears. Got my tree 3 years ago and it grew beautifully from 25cm to 1m height. Would washing all leaves and stems and trunks and roots with hydrogen peroxide and repotting it into a one size up pot with mix of promix & orchid media help? Or just keep washing the top part until spring to repot? I appreciate your advice and time♥️
I’ve tried twice now to get the handbook, but for some reason it’s not showing up in my email. I’ve tried looking in my junk mail and it’s not there either. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your regular videos.. it's like a dose of fresh air :) I am slowly doing nearly everything like you since it's so... logical 😅 simple grow lights to Sansi grow lights, bottom watering since 2 years now, trusty moisture meter, pruning... #masteroftheshefieldcult
Can you tell me where to snip my Red Chinese Evergreen plant so I can make it fuller? I'm afraid I'll cut in the wrong place so I thought I'd ask you! It's such a beautiful, healthy plant I just want it bigger and fuller. Have a great one! 💚🪴

Too late! Lol. That was one of my first plants and I watered it straight to the graveyard! Learned a lot since then
What a spectacular looking pachira aquatica. Prayers, Love and Peace.
Pachiras sold in shops are actually Pachira glabra because they get a thicker trunk sooner than Pachira aquatica.
I’ve been plant doctoring my daughters money tree 👩⚕️It was a mess ! Very over watered and in sopping wet soil, it’s making a comeback 😀🇨🇦
Unbraided mine as soon as I got it. Same pot just unbraided and separated and it's doing great..
Since I've found you my plants are doin great😊thank you
I killed 2 money trees before I got a moisture meter. My third is doing great!😊
Your videos have helped me become a very good indoor plant grower... 🎉 my money plant looks fantastic 👌 ❤

I have such a small pot, that I can water it quite a lot.
I let sit in the water, because it gets drunk pretty quick.
But also let it dry out.

Yet, like me, you will find space, huh ?? 😂😂❤
I have a nice Bonsai version!
Can I propogate the cuttings ?
Yep
Supposedly, the Malabar chestnut (money trees) also naturally grow in swampy conditions, so I wonder if you can actually overwater them?

You don't have to if you prefer a single specimen. They get a nice pachycaul trunk with age. It also doesn't have to share the pot with other plants.

If it’s healthy then it’ll root

@@SheffieldMadePlants soon Mr. Sheffield? 😬 thanks for all the great videos!!
What do you suggest for cuttings? Water first? I have not have success with just planting them in soil.
Water works or perlite is good

Light and water is the most important but it’s a good idea to give them their food
