    This young woman's skin is absolutely stunning. I will do daily. I also have a derma roller. Will do derma roller once per week. Am 54, wear sunblock every day since I was 24, I do tretinoin and vitamin C, botox for forehead and crow's feet, and conservative use of fillers. I am told I could pass for 30's, but time isn't kind and I can tell you I have benefitted financiallyand professionally from working to appear youthful. Sad, but true. It does matter. Ageism is very real and disproportionately affects women more negatively then men.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and perspective! I totally feel you-it’s unfortunate that women are held to much different standards than men.
      I personally really love beauty, makeup, and skincare and enjoy taking good care of my face and body. But I feel for the ladies who do not enjoy this. Not everyone likes these things and yet they are still subject to the same pressures to look “professional” or “put together”.
      It sounds like you’ve taken great care of your skin. ❤️

    Thank you sooo much for making this video! I bought the Omnilux mask a few months ago before I saw your video, wasn't consistent with it. Used about once or twice a week.
    I (had) fungal acne/folliculitis on my right cheek for a couple years that would not go away. I used different products to treat it but would come back.
    I also remembered I read an article about led light therapy killing fungus in a science lab experiment. Folliculitis is very tricky to treat, generally speaking.
    Because of your video, I decided to be consistent everyday using the mask in the morning. Within a week and especially the second week, my folliculitis had been healing. I no longer have it anymore.
    I've also notice my mood being more positive. Having more motivation to finish tasks and accomplish my goals. So Thank you!!!!! For sharing and the inspiration!!!!❤🙏🏻🌻✨😊 I will continue to use everyday!!!!🙋‍♀️✨🌻❤

    I did a lot of research on these and ending up going with the Omnilux. Used it everyday (20 min) for the first two months and then maintenance sessions 3-4 times a week. I have mild rosacea and other redness from occasional gluten/sugar sensitivities and I find that this mask has definitely helped minimize the redness and overall texture of my skin. I also have been using prescription Tretinoin for the past year as well and OTC retinol for 6 years, which has definitely helped with texture. I actually used one of those red light heating lamps for a while every night and morning. I started it to help with my sinuses and my stiff neck, but I also noticed that 1) I sleep so much better after using it, like falling a sleep within the 10 min use and overall improved sleep quality was so much better, and 2) I also found it way easier to stand up in the morning, like you said in the video!
    I did that for like 6 months when I lived in that one dorm room, and it was easy to set it up there, but afterward I stopped... I really need to do that again actually, this is a good reminder!

    Love your video! I started using an OmniLux mask about a month ago, and have seen subtle skin improvement so far.
    I also started using it on my hands, for osteoarthritis -- mine has an inflammatory effect although it's not rheumatoid arthritis. The skin over the arthritic area is red from the inflammation. I've found that after using the LED/IF mask, the redness was gone the next morning after using it the night before. The redness started to return maybe 24 hours later, but by using the mask on my hands everyday, the redness doesn't return. (I've since purchased the hand-mitt version for this purpose.) I've had that inflammatory redness for at least six years, so seeing it disappear is amazing !!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that continued use might help other autoimmune issues.

    Thank you for this upload. I am a licensed esthetician who is more than familiar with LED therapy. But I had no idea it had the potential to have cognitive benefits in addition to topical. I wonder if this actually has something to do with the technology itself, or if it is from the mental aspect of having a self care step in your routine every morning.
    On a non speculating point, it makes sense from a scientific point of view that when the leds went out on one half the results would be notably differnt between the two sides of your face. LED therapy isn't a trend or a gimic. By nature it will always provide results if at the right wavelength. There are no if ands or buts about it. It's a clinically viable and widely used treatment with basically 100% success rate in clients if used regularly. So for those skeptical, it's absolutely worth it. It's one of the few at home technologies that I would endorse. And get the at home version and bite the bullet for upfront costs.
    As estheticians we charge from $150 up to over $500 for one LED light session. You need to use this consistently to see results. One session a few times a year won't do anything. Saying it now makes me feel guilty for charging that. Yes, a device could be $500+ but you buy it once. You'd spend close to 50k a year at the low end going in for treatment everyday. Which is how you'll get the best results. Doing it at home is much more economic and ensures you'll keep up with it in the future

    I’ve been considering getting a red light mask :) my only concern is near infrared. Have you seen any of the research that shows near infrared can damage skin? I know far-infrared is good for us. But yeah, I’ve read a few studies about NIR which has me hesitant.
    But I’m also wondering how beneficial simple red light LED without the infrared would be if I found a mask that didn’t use NIR 😅

    I own a powerful red light, they are stronger than the masks but not quite as convenient. I shine on my face and my thyriod for ten minutes each in the morning before getting up. I also microneedle my scalp once weekly and red light my scalp. They 100% improve my mood, and I have also used it on two injuries. A snapped UCL and a 3rd degree burn on my hand. They both healed extrenely well and fast. I think I had a large pimple on the back of my arm that took longer thsn my burn to heal.
    Like you I try with my skin, and so I cannot say that it is this helping or the other procedures and at home care that I do. As well as tretinoin. But I have faith in my red light ❤

      @TheScienceofSelfCare I'm happy with the Hooga in that I believe it cleared my eczema, and it gives my skin a "glow" that is hard to explain! The Hooga emits 660 nm red light and 850 nm of near infrared. The is not the peak ideal values for these, I can't remember the exact numbers, but research that first. I would rather have a panel that emits the ideal nm.

    We bought a Korean made Ceragem red light massage bed in 2008. It was a costly layout initially. We paid it out, and we bought an infrared mattress pad to sleep on. They use Jade to transmit the infra red spectrum light. In Korea they use infrared to heat their homes and their stoves too. It is very common there we were told by Korean students we had staying with us. i lie down on the bed with or without the massge on in 1 hour i wake up rejuvenated feeling refreshed. The infra-red penetrates 3 inches below the surface. It heats up quite hot. You need to protect your eyes from the bright lights. We have had this for almost 15 years, the mattress pad stopped working a couple of years ago but we used it every night for 6 months of the year if we could find a part replacement we could use it again. I would not recommend this with a foam mattress though. It was worth the 4,000 plus initial investment. Highly recommend.

    I also love my LED mask, I have the Omnilux, pretty expensive, but as you said, we use them almost daily (I use mine probably 5 times a week), so the cost/use is not that huge... Like you I have very sensitive skin with rosacea and I have noticed a significant improvement in the last 3 months, my skin is so much calmer and clearer, especially after I had developed some horrible cystic breakouts (which I assume were caused by the collagen supplements I was taking), and also after spending some months in the merciless African summer. I hope I will also get to see results on some very fine lines that have appeared under my eyes (probably due to that African sun I was mentioning). I am also using the mask on my chest even though it's for the face.
    One question though, you said you use it for 20-30 minutes everyday? Apparently using it for too long could potentially be damaging - Claire Johnston on the Honest Channel has some interesting videos about this.

    5:33 Your left side of the face is naturally smoother than the right... For me, my right side is naturally smoother than left... We all do have such subtle/vivid discrepancies either naturally or simply because one side has more problems/acne.. usually the side we sleep on which leads to fluid retention, less Lymphatic drain and even spread of bacteria on that side. I have given red light masks a good trial and the difference (if any) is not enough to give it any credit like I would to say derma needling. Also, with lights we need to be very cautious because the margin of error is high due to the uncontrolled/undetected nature of home devices. Not the correct wavelength and it may cause hyperpigmentation or be completely useless.

      red light panels are usually more powerful and cover a greater body area, you can use them for different body areas, tend to be better for aches, sprains, although can still use for the face, check their power output as some panels you want to sit 3 feet away from otherwise too powerful for eyes if up close or wear goggles, mask led's get really close to the skin which is good though some cheap masks their led's are probably not very effective, for red light devices best go for ones which have a reputation, companies which have been around, have good websites and reviews, some of their websites have lots of information, also read reviews online, some of the cheaper products their led's are cheap and they are not very effective

      @@PreciousMe I always keep my eyes closed. But the problem with your argument is most doctors aren’t familiar with RLT. I’m a retired nurse with a PhD who has focused on healthy lifestyles. When I started fasting and keto diet years ago, I heard health professionals out of ignorance deny these were acceptable practices. Western medicine is very limited. There are medical professionals who are aware of alternate means towards wellness but they are not easy to find and have even been legally sued for speaking outside of the corporation lipspeak in the healthcare monopoly. People are looking for ways to be our best selves and it usually is not found in a pharmaceutical.

      Re microneedling: You’re absolutely right about being ultra careful with at-home treatments like dermarolling. I have a very careful protocol I follow where everything is sanitized and I do not over-use any single roller. For me personally, dermarolling has done wonders for my skin (clarity and texture) at a fraction of the cost of a microneedling session in a clinic. But I agree it’s something to be very careful with and would advise anyone perusing the comments to do their own research and talk to some professional aestheticians. :)

      Hey👋 so I have no way to “measure” my mood but between using a light mask and actually going into a red light sauna regularly, I’ve found that red light makes me feel bright and energized. Not sure how to explain it any better. :) I would recommend finding a gym in your area that has a red light sauna (some gyms do!) and testing it out for a few days!
      This way you can assess for yourself how it feels before investing in any red light devices. Everyone’s experience is unique. Beyond gyms, there are also specialized clinics that have red light therapy rooms. Not sure where you live but I’m certain there’s going to be some way to test it out somewhere. ❤️

    My friend has been diagnosed with cataracts and apparently exposure to bright sun can accelerate this. Now I'm wondering if the bright red light right next to your eyes can also affect eyes...😮

    • @Dreamopticsredlightglasses
      @Dreamopticsredlightglasses หลายเดือนก่อน

      Low power red light is actually good for the eyes, for example 670 nanometre red light at 8 milliwatts per cm squared for 3 minutes in the morning (what our glasses use, developed by eye scientists in the UK) 20 nm per cm 2 is ok, many masks are this kind of power, check the details on the mask, more powerful panels and lamps like 50 mw/cm2 with wavelengths of 650/750/850 you should sit 3 feet away, if anything seems bright to your eyes use goggles or don't use it, longer wavelengths like 900 plus don't use it for eyes, follow the instructions with the mask or panel, some people are more light sensitive so have to be more careful those with eye medical conditions should get advice from optometrist / doctor first

  • @xJulietDoll
    @xJulietDoll ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Does it matter which brand of mask you use? They all range from $100-600 and I’m scared to spend so much on a product that I’m not sure even works because of mixed reviews on red light therapy in general 😢 (I have acne and hyperpigmentation, I also have awful seasonal depression so I could really benefit from something like this if it actually works, I’ve already tried everything else) 😥

    • @turbocrackers2204
      @turbocrackers2204 ปีที่แล้ว

      I imagine the mixed reviews come from the fact that the cheap ones don't produce the right wavelength of light, but it's still red so people can't tell the difference. The expensive ones seem to universally be beneficial. I'm no expert though, that's just my theory!

    Thanks for the video!:) I am considering the mask but am so scared about the potential fat loss it can cause after watching The Honest channel discussions let by Claire.. But it is also really annoying because in that chanel they argue that almost any good modality for the skin cause fat loss, such as tretinoin.. Have you seen it? what is your opinion of it? I can see that your face is full, you probably did not lose any fat? may I ask you how old are you as well? since you look very youthfull and your skin looks incredible!:) thank you! ;)

      I am 31 and i have not noticed any fat loss at all. I am not sure how it would result in fat loss. Haven’t seen any studies related to that. It’s not radio frequency and it’s not delivering heat deep into the tissue. So I really don’t think you need to be worried about fat loss :)

    • @liviusss
      @liviusss ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't see how red light could cause fat loss, even though I'm watching Claire's channel... The LED masks do not generate heat in the skin, which would cause the fat cells to atrophy, so maybe a defective device which was worn everyday for many hours could potentially cause some issues, but if you have a good mask and use it like it's supposed to be used, I don't see how you could have this issue.

    Great video! I have been reading all of the studies on red light therapy for wound healing and how it increases cell division and the mitochondria energy production of cells. i get a lot of superficial wounds from working outside on my ranch and also have some joint/muscle/tendon pain issues, but i have not had time or money to invest in a red light unit, so I have gone outside with the sun, now that it's just about summer, having very powerful intensity, which also has red light. Yes, even though it appears as white light, the red and far red light/infrared is in there of course. Sunlight has very high lux/lumen values that I'm thinking would far exceed even the artifical units. Since you maximimize vit D synthesis at 3 to 4 minutes of exposure from UV, not the 7 to 8 minutes that they say results in burning, i do not think this will have any DNA damaging or aging effects since I just lay on each side for about 4 minutes. When you exceed 3 to 4 minues the sun actually begins to degrade some of the vitD that has formed according to a Scandivian study i read giving the 3 to 4 minutes time span as optimum. Plus I drink green tea before going out and the polyphenols are known to protect skin against UV-B damage. Then after 5 pm when the long rays of the sun are more predominant (higher in red light compared to blue or UV), then I go out for longer to maximize more red light without any worry of UV at that time. There may some UVA., but i do not think its enough to cause damage or burning. I have noticed incredible healing effects of joint and muscle pain, and my skin looks very smooth and healthy from this sun/red light therapy.

      @TheScienceofSelfCare  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Interesting routine. Thanks for sharing. I try to avoid UV exposure as much as possible because I have very fair skin that burns super easily. Since infrared light is the complete other end of the spectrum and there’s no evidence that red light can be harmful, I feel pretty great basking in A LOT of it whenever I can. My skin loves it.

    • @brienq
      @brienq ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheScienceofSelfCare I've decided to abandon this routine. Even though they say 3 to 4 minutes is not enough time to burn or damage the skin, I did have some damage since I posted that message. I developed a raised small pimple like growth on my leg that is itchy and looks like some of the sun keratomas I got from years earlier due to over-exposure. So there might have been some DNA damage - no more sun for me! Even after 4 pm when the UV-B is gone, I read there is enough UVA that is known for damaging DNA even though it doesn't cause burning or redness. I'm willing to try the red light therapy alone and take the natural vitamin D from cod liver oil. There are a large group of people who believe your supposed to only get vit D from the sun or at least natural sources like cod liver oil, not the synthetic capsules. However, I do not think they are taking into account that there are some people that are sensitive or notice cell damage (permanent changes are evidence of DNA damage which accelerates aging and has skin cancer risk).
