Sigurd is my favorite lord of the fire emblem series and yet, as I played the game, it became painfully obvious that while he was noble and kind, he was also reckless and naive. someone like that should not be in the position of leadership. despite that, his eventual fate and that of his friends was heartbreaking, especially since they did nothing to deserve it.
To be fair, Sigurd isn't the only reckless idiot in Judgral. Eldigan and Arvis don't fare much better. One walked up to his clearly corrupt and violent superior, asking for permission to reform when he could've just retreated or joined his friends in battle. The other let a child murdering cultist screw over the whole continent when he could've tipped Sigurd to help him get that issue out of the picture if he didn't decide to kill him abruptly. They're all still great characters, but let's face it; Judgral fell because the weight of its fate is placed on a bunch of lousy teenagers.
@@CountShaman eldigan was kind of caught in a bad place though; any of his possible choices wouldn't really land him in a better position. the way i see it is that his knightly duty lied in agustria as a nation, which includes the people, rather than specifically concentrating it to chagall himself. he had the best interests of agustria in mind when he fought, instead of risking chaos in the country by overthrowing and helping a potentially corrupt grannvale take over. by that point, sigurd had already failed to keep his word, so it would be a gamble for eldigan to trust him again for something with much larger stakes. so i don't really think he was stupid, just more of a man who was stuck in a bad spot
@@kniight Yeah, I thought about it, and that is true. There are a lot of stupid mistakes done by the characters, but I think Eldigan's isn't that bad after all.
These vids, especially the ending and strongest character ones, are some of my favorites on TH-cam. Even if I don't know or haven't played the game, you explain it so thoroughly. Few other TH-camrs go so in-depth.
On Fire Emblem, I always did my best to save every character too. I once even refused to play a level once, because I kept on losing one character, and I would only clear the level if I could think of a way to clear it without losing the character. No man or woman left behind! =D
I only played FE4 once (well, completed it once, got stuck on chapter 2 and 3 (or 3 and 4, if you count the prologue as C1 like you did in the video)) but oh boy, it has one of the best storylines of the whole franchise. And it's pretty dark. I really hope the next FE will be a remake of FE 4 and it will get a western release. They can change the chapters to be smaller (instead of multiple castles only one per mission) but the story is just to good to not be released in the west officially.
If they can keep the story and dialogue the same and maybe make a few tweaks to the gameplay, (such as every weapon slowing every character down, no matter how strong they are) I'd be perfectly happy.
I'd rather deal with the Smash fanbase any day of the week over the current Fire Emblem fanbase. I've banned myself from making Fire Emblem videos until I don't know when because I hate them so much and their so-called "leaders" in the community.
@windego999 The translated roms I've tested often had sections of dialogue left untranslated. It's best to download an English patch for the game from a website I can't remember the name of. Sorry I can't be of more help there, but good luck and hope you enjoy playing the game.
@windego999 It's for the SNES. I'm not sure why it's not been released elsewhere yet, but maybe they'll get round to doing so for the DS or 3DS eventually since they've ported the first and third games over. I expect they probably will change some of the aspects of the story if they did, though. Though murder is perfectly acceptable, rape and suicide are more touchy subjects for some reason.
Wow dude. You are really into the story of Fire Emblem series. This is awesome! Because when you think about it, it is Japanese Game of Thrones. And the books were getting published 10 years after this the first game's release.
@gameplayer4885 Funnily enough, Aideen can actually get killed before you rescue her, should things go badly enough in the second chapter. If she does make it to the end of the first half, though, she's one of the few characters who definitely survives to the end of the game.
@becongeneral I haven't played FE12, but I think I heard the character who canonically sacrificed himself (whatever he's called) actually survived and makes an appearance in the game.
This game came out in May of 1996. The first book of A Song of Ice and Fire didn't come out until August of the same year. So no, unless George RR Martin sent his unreleased manuscript to Japan to give Nintendo story tips, they were not reading ASoIaF when they made this.
This game is so good, christ the first time i saw the battle at Barhara it creeped me out beyond belief. Genealogy is so depressing. BTW Caun is BADASS beyond belief.
She isn't playable in the second half, in fact, she makes no appearance at all in the gameplay, but other characters mention that she's safely at an unseen castle.
it's wierd that so manny games start becous a girl (mostly either a princess, girlfriend, sister etc.) is kidnapped, and they go on a dangerous adventure for to save her. but the big question is: is it worth it? saving the world, ofcourse, but just for a stuupid girl ho does'nt do annything else than getting kidnapped? I don't understand how Mario have'nt broke upp with peach.
I have never played Fire Emblem, so I find it amazing all this effort is going to turn into a bad end, altough seems like each chapter's final i a bad end itself.
I heard you like Fire Emblem (you told us in the start of the video), but wich (sorry for bad spelling, i live in Denmark) game is your favorite? My favorite is FE8, because it's the only one i played, AND I LOVE IT!
You have no idea how pissed i am when someone dies, i refuse to go any farther even if its a craptastic character (sothe) >.> but what really took the icing on the cake was when you HAD to sacrifice one of your units in Fire Emblem 1, i was like "its cool, ill just get the rod to revive him on the second to last level" BUT IT DOES NOTHING.
It takes about 55-60 hours to play from beginning to end, assuming that you aren't rushing or stalling. I know, I've played through it four times, now.
Bad endings encourage me to try the game again and get 100 % to make sure I did everything. The only bad ending that reallyy made me try again was the bad ending for Kirby 64: The Crystal shards.
proud to say i've beaten all the FEs that i have played (about 3 ) without losing any characters that dont have to die for a new character. :D...but mah god...all the level restarts.
@MasterKnightDH I was mainly talking about the game forcing you to sacrifice Jagen, as he is a already promoted character at the start. Then comes the revival wand at the end of the game... and guess what, YOU CANT USE IT ON HIM... I guess that means he is alive in a morbid "Yea f**k working for the prince im going home" kind of way but thats pretty lame. I have to play through twice to see what he actually does after the war... and yea the Gaiden requisites are beyond stupid
@whoisthisgit Thanks for the reply, though it turns out I was mistaken. My rom indeed had this portion translated, I mistook it for the opening intro, which apparently has been translated in a few versions floating around the internet. Thanks anyway!
4:31 Honestly, one of the things I hate the most about Sigurd (who used to be my all time favorite Fire Emblem Lord) is that he's such a naive idiot. Literally gets told that if he meets a beautiful woman in the woods, then he needs to run away as quickly as possible and that she must never leave the woods because disaster will strike if she does. What does he do? Fall in love with her and drag her around on his invasions of foreign lands. What happens? She get kidnapped, brainwashed, and forced to bang her half brother so she'll give birth to a child that can be possessed by a demonic dragon, while helping to plunge the continent in to chaos and tyranny. While her actual husband is murdered in a massacre.
Yeah, Sigurd was an asshole in certain things, but let's admit it: if your husband orders you to stay in your home, castle, etc... Why don't you listen to him? Deirdre caused all of this after all... Or maybe the disaster became reality when she became stupid and left the castle.
@zigihaku But it's not an ending, besides, he wanted that, and he actually was framed, the one who did the crime was actually Poison. That's how the story goes.
@gameplayer4885 You're being too hard on Peach. All she has to protect herself against A GIANT FIRE-BREATHING TURTLE AND HIS ARMY are a bunch of walking fungus, and when she's not kidnapped she's a great help (and even sometimes when she is - see Paper Mario TTYD).
I don't get how you got an snes game of fire emblem translated. Its been my understanding that The gba game with Eliwood was the first to be released in english.... And I couldn't even find a translator rom version...
Not weird. I would too pack my things and go on a endless adventure that would probably kill me, to save those who are important to me. No real gentleman could live knowing that he let his friends or beloved girl die. Man up, and stand to defend what's important to you.
Pardon me, where did you get this version of the rom? The only one I can find, doesn't have the timeline translated. If you can't remember (the most likely thing) could you maybe... um send it to me? I'd love you forever, since I juts can't seem to find this particular patched version, since there are a tron out there.

'If you want to be a good person, do the opposite of what he does'

8:53 that has to be the largest force ever assembled in a fire emblem game

Yeah that's what the crests are inspired by tho imo 3 houses does a much poorer job at portraying the kind of strength they are meant to give
Wow i just watched 8 of your episodes and at the 9th one i think i am going to subscribe.
I know! Me too! The pros always over-weighed the cons, you keep the person and don't have to face the grievances of their death.
Why am I watching this on Christmas Eve?
NOTHING makes me more sad then when one of your people die in valkyira chronicles.

Except for the fact the FE is a pure Tactical RPG. No random encounters or anything like that. Suikoden mixes up Tactical fights within JRPG formula.

Sigurd: That girl's cultural values are stupid because they don't agree with my own. I'll just track her down and force her to fall in love with me.
