this was so on point! Especially the breaks, I do better when I have active breaks away from my desk like cleaning or walking or making sure I actually eat during my lunch breaks. I always say I’ll eat while I work but then I’m too distracted by my work to ever finish my food, so eating breakfast BEFORE signing online and eating during lunch is important. My last job was so active physically and now being at a desk at home had me super sleepy the first 4 weeks 🥲

The one I would add that I have to do some is if you are wanting to procrastinate, start small. It's easier to talk yourself into doing something if you know you only have to do something that will take a few minutes. Then once you get in those few minutes, you can do anything you want, but chances are that you will want to keep going once you get the first few minutes in.

I love "communicate with others" . Your live streams this week have meant so much to me! It helps a lot to know there are so many of us doing this together. It really lifts my spirits in this crazy time!
ALL TIPS GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Am new to WFH so was searching for info around this and found your video, THANK YOU!!!! Shifting gears from being a clinic office nurse to working from home with a different title is so different, this video hit home and makes sense now why I have been struggling. I've been so used to the "leaving home" home routine and all that goes with that preparedness, like the grocery list, the errands the kids needs before I even leave the house in the morning. Giving myself some grace around this transition but also noticing perhaps a fear that productivity is going out the window, Yikes. This video provides exactly what I need right now, Thanks so much!
Schedule all parts of your day is essential. I also WFH the vast majority of the time and this is something I have always done. AM, PM evening- everything gets a basic time slot and all times are generally accounted for. This is like a budget and lets you optimize efficiency and feel more relaxed.
"Find the spot" is the best advise I am following. I have a dedicated area for work and go there only when I am working. Use a different spot in the house for non work entertainment/content consumption. This helps me separate work and non-work activities.
Thx pat, it helps me a lot. In the past few days I was kind of lost and can't even finish any work. I was so lazy and didn't have motivation to work, just wanting to watch TH-cam and Netflix to relax myself. It's been a terrible week. But now I'm gonna get back control from my life and stay productive. Thx pat
Oh, I knew that morning routine and getting dressed is super important but I never realized that ‘end time’ is important!!! Literally light bulb moment! That was the reason why our family evening routine is always messed up because I am trying to fit in as much work as possible.... THANK YOU!!!
I quit my corporate job, got married and started a new business as a music teacher, performer and event producer last year just before the pandemic hit. It's been a rollercoaster ever since. At times, overworking, burning out and having no clear intentions. To other times, being unproductive and feeling isolated. I've created successes in the business but at times at high cost to my personal relationships and personal health. Sharing your story, your clear advice on how to create a structure that works is so refreshing and inspiring. Thank you for generously sharing these ideas to help people like myself make changes that can better our futures 💖🙏
I found that maintaining my morning routine has been the most beneficial. Learning that maintaining a schedule is also very important. Thank you for the time to put this together!
My favourite is spending time with loved ones. I have noticed I spent much more quality time with my household members and our relationship have improved dramatically since I started working from home. ☆
I found helpful setting a timer on my phone to help with blocking for breaks. I’ll set it for 45-50 minutes to work and then when the timer goes off, I’ll set the timer for a 10/15 min break. Helps me focus and I am flexible. Sometimes I’ll use this to remind myself to stand and move around
Great video! I’m now working from home for three years - main challenge especially at the beginning was lack of social contacts resulting in the fact that too much work was discussed with my wife, And also one should not underestimate the effect of the social contacts one has in a company over the day, which are not there when you were working from home. Stay safe!🏄🏽♂️☀️
The most helpful tips for me were creating a morning routine and scheduling my day. The other tips I got were really helpful as well. Overall I'm so thankful for this video and thank you for talking to me as a friend. I appreciate you! -Denise
Thank you, Pat! I am starting my working from home journey on August 7th. Staying focused and moving forward is very important. I am used to working in the field and office, but now i will be home. I need to actually set goals and stay on task as much as possible. I wrote the steps down and will actively attempt to follow them. Again, thank you.
I KNEW all of this... but having it aid, and put into print was a real slap-in-the-face wake-up call. I IGNORED all of this...maybe now I can "GIT-R-DONE" - Thanks, much needed!
Not having a morning routine has always been my main downfall. I can see that now. Scheduling my whole day would be very useful so I think that's my next go to.
Great video, Pat! I recently quit my job to start my own business and the first 2 weeks I felt so aimless and forlorn. You really take for granted the structure and comfort of a routine. Back on track now. 👍🏾
I love tip #1 about communication, particularly the reminder to ask the others around you what they’re up to and how you can help. Great video as always! Thanks so much Pat!!
I can deeply resonate with what you said to - Find your Spot. I was using my sister's room as a home office while she's in abroad. When the lock down happened in our area because of Covid-19, my cousin took refuge in our home and he used my sister's room (my home office). During that time, I transferred to our dining area to do some work - my productivity dropped. There were plenty of distractions as I can just go to our food storage immediately to get some snacks and eat, go to sala and watch Netflix, or be called up by my family to do something as I am always in their sight. When I had the room back as my cousin transferred to another room, I am becoming productive again.
Dear Pat, I used to watch a few videos of yours some years ago and notice how much you have evolved. I love the calm, matured person you have developed into. Congrats and all the best
Hey Pat!! I have been following you since 2014 when you had that other site design. I have been listening to your podcast. I just love them. You are my inspiration for building an online business for building a passive income empire. This work-from-home video was so helpful to me I can't even tell. You said to communicate one tip that was helpful, I would say all 10 of them were super-helpful to me. Thank you so much for putting these videos out. Putting your podcasts out. You rock. Love you!!
I am about to reach one year working from home so pretty much nothing compared to you but something that helped me is to understand that if I can't work, if the inspiration is not there, I need to stop trying, do something else for a few hours and come back later. I am still at the point where I do everything and I work very long days, so if one afternoon nothing is working right, it's not a big deal.
Great video post! I have worked from home my whole career, but constantly need the focus to keep on schedule and focus on what is important at work and with family. So many things that can distract you - news and social media are time sucks that can throw you off! The 2 big things are the morning routine and the face to face connection -- both so necessary! Thank you!
Thank you for this, I've been working for some time now remote, I consider myself a relatively smart person and good at my job but I must be humble to admit that I've developed a serious problem of focus, its just that my mind try to find a lot of excuses to not work, like that my job is not really that important, my task is not really that important, and a lot of times fooling myself with things like that I'm wasting my life if a focus 5/6 hours a day of good work, but in the end I just don't work and feel the burden and shame of another improductive day, anyway I decided that this next week will be different and I'll start with small steps, first being humble that I will not figure out things by myself and I should follow a method to focus (your video was very helpful on this), and second that I will start small, I will not be mr. productive guy working 8 hours focused in the first day, I will start small trying to focus a couple of hours and then will get better with time, thanks.
Thank you for this video. I have been working from home since the pandemic and have been struggling to stay focused. These helpful tips are great and I am working on applying them to be more productive and happy in this role. 👍
This has been a great resource. Especially the loneliness part. Working from home in an apartment I live in by myself when I'm used to being in an office with awesome coworkers.. Yeah. That loneliness hits hard.
I am so thankful for your tipps! I am since three weeks and for the rest of my working life working from home and was afraid of getting into trouble with it especially mentally. But comparing your tipps with the way I Do it already, gives me confidence and a very good feeling. Blesses to Robin Sharna I am on my 43rd Day of the 5 am morning Routine which contents 20+ minutes move/sports, 20 minutes meditation/journaling and 20 minutes growing by studying as well as the 90 Minute Focus and a must to Pause afterwards and so on .... :) In addition I go for a 30 minute run at lunchtime, take a shower, eat the food I prepared the day before in calm and with joy and return 1 hour later extremly happy to work. With your tipps combined (especially: working spot, face2face connection, fully Focus either on work or belogen ones) I feel a great Benefit now and have no More worries about how my homeoffice Situation is going to work out in the future! Trank you so much, Flynn! You're great! 🎉😊
1. morning routine 2. beware of temptation that is not related to work 3. eat well 4. take a break 5. schedule parts of the day 6. communicate with people around me. this is the tips that i will try to follow. thanks a lot.
I came to the video looking for tips that'd help me get organized and motivated, because I have been struggling for the last few months. But I leave feeling like a friend has just given me good advice. Thank you for being so kind in your words!!
It's been soo hard to focus while working from home! Usually, I wake up at 6 am, do my routine, go to work an ace my days. Now, I need like a week just to adapt and start doing something productive. It's all about discipline.
Hi Pat great video, I was working late again and listened to "Beware the Temptation to Work When You Shouldn't" when It was 9PM already and my kids were about to go to bed. I stopped the video and hung out with the family. Great reminder, thank you.
Best time: Having a set work space to mentally prepare yourself to start working once in that space. Something I struggle with the most is focus! I find myself easily distracted in other jobs around the house.
This is very well put together. I have struggled working from home for a few years now as have no one to be accountable to than myself. Look forward to incorporating these helpful items in my life. Thankyou!!
Pat, you have to be one of the most empathetic guy... I have followed you over the years and you have grown so much. There is part of me that wishes I had followed a lot more of your advice over the years. Reckon also the communication each day will help a lot... so aware of the trauma many are suffering because of Covid and layoffs.
i don't know howcome i took this long to discover you! thank you for making this video. it so true to some of the things you brought up here. to compartmantalize stuffs are also important. what i really feel is true is about taking breaks and when you leave work, you leave. cause working from home, there's no boundary line. i find myself working all the time. well, thank you very much once again for this reminder and video!
I work outside the home part time, but am also trying to transition to online so have a website and biz online. It's a struggle working from home. Having a "spot" definitely helps. My issue mostly is Distractions. Only checking phone/email once per am/pm or on lunch. Staying on track is key.
Great tips. I’ve been working from home for many years and I practice most of these tips myself. I try to avoid unnecessary distractions (social media, read/watching the news, etc). I miss the “face to face” interactions and need to do a better job at that. 👍
Last week I ran my first 5k without stopping and all the time I could hear the voice in my head saying that I can do it. Forwago, thank you so much for everything!!
This has been such a helpful video! I really like the way you pitched a morning routine- it can we hard with an infant because sleep is so precious but its REALLY HELPFUL!
Thank you for sharing this information. The one I chose was #5 - Taking breaks. As being a work-a-holic, I have to learn how to take breaks. I get caught up into my assignments and try to finish them in a timely fashion without taking a break (whether at home or at work). I am learning through this video.
I am potentially looking into a remote position, and this by far is the best video ever! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and honesty! You are so cool! Thanks 🙏🏼
Crystal, wish you all the very best for your remote work journey. There are certain changes in daily activities and work setup you should have to work efficiently while working from home. Our latest video mentions implementable tips to Increase Productivity While Working from Home. Hope it helps !!!
Pat, great job, your video was in April 2020, we are now February 2021, 10 months later, I have my podcast, and I regret not finding you earlier, started the research by looking into a better mic, and I ended up watching your videos, you kept me on youtube for 3 hours now. I wrote 5 pages of important things I will test in my podcast. and didn't want to leave here without thanking you, keep it up man (Dr. Sam Borgui)
all those tips will be very helpful to me, especially tips with the kids, being in a WFH setup for the first time is the biggest adjustment for my kid, my kid is just 3yo and obsessed with me, a certified daddy's girl, so negotiating with her is the most challenging part. its been 2weeks since I started my WFH setup and there is a lot of adjustment going on but scheduling is definitely the key. glad my kid is also adjusting on the setup, and improving on the negotiating part, but still there is a long way to go.
Organize workplace and information storage. Make backups of your data. Papers, items and data should organize when take them in, not collect piles of unorganized stuff.
Thanks you pat, i am having hard time Focusing on my work. I do follow checklist of works but still i was not as productive as i should. But after watching your videos, i got that where i was going wrong. Thanks man. ☺️ #teamflynn
Thank you for the great tips. For me , I love that I can get up and work the whole day in my pajamas. I know it may not work for everyone but for me that is a great advantage of wfh.
Breaks are so important, when I went back to school after 9 years, for my technical project management certification I definitely learned the hard way. For some reason remote learning had me working a bit different as well.
Thank you for the 10 tips. It has been very insightful. #10 Morning Routine, is huge for me, as I struggle to get started with what I'm actually supposed to be doing. (#7) And lastly #4 Schedule day but remain flexible. I work from home but am also open if someone needs me, which sometimes causes me to not work as often as I should.
Thank you for this content. Regardless of the time it was created it still holds its value. Being a military retiree and now going into a remote job, I believe connecting with people face to face will be the most challenging part. However, I will make sure to give it my best based on your advice and tips. Thank you again.
#10, #7, & # 4 are biggest problems when working from home. I get less work done an spend too much time on things that “don’t move the needle!” Thanks for this video. I’m an architect still working in an office, but tried going into business on my own from home.
most helpful tip for me is to Know what you are supposed to be doing. otherwise I may go off into a bunch of different directions and then feel guilty for not doing one of the main things on my list.
I agree, good video ...in my case, a morning routine that in between other things include stretching exercises, meditation, short cardio session, and ends with a cold GOD FORSAKEN shower really helps me feel prepared for work. Another is to know when extending work hours and "going the extra mile" is really necessary and if not then just close the computer, add it to my work agenda for the next day (so that it is out of my mind ), and move on. Cheers!
This was my first time watching one of your videos. I truly enjoyed this video and I am truly grateful that you made it. This video really added value to me as a new TH-cam creator who recently lost his job.
Sorry to hear you lost your job. Happened to me in 08, and it was Tempe best thing for me (although I didn’t know it at the time). Glad we found each other! All the best!
@@patflynn Thank you for your feedback Pat. I am not allowing this situation to define who I am but realizing there is another chapter for me to learn in my life. I am looking forward to learning all I can in our partnership together and the content that you provide. God Bless.
As one already experienced two months working from home, here are my tips 1. First, get changed out of your pajamas every morning. It'll help get you in the right headspace for work and allow you to take video calls on the fly. 2. Pick one or more dedicated workspaces, ideally with a decent chair that will support your back. 3. But try to keep your bedroom as a sacred space for sleeping and relaxing where work is banned. It'll help make the work-life divide a little clearer. 4. Wake up more than five minutes before your workday starts. You need time to prepare for the day, both mentally and physically. 5. Try wearing shoes, because let's be real: You probably wouldn't be chilling barefoot in an office. 6. Sign out and turn off notifications for work-related email and instant messaging when the day is over - especially if you're signed in on your personal devices. 7. Overworking can be a real issue, so clearly define what hours you will be working and stick to it. 8.Also, take frequent breaks so you don't burn out. You're probably not actually working 100% of the time when you're in an office anyway. 9.Be sure to socialize after work, even if it's just a video call, to keep the loneliness at bay. 10.Communicate to people you live with that you're working, like if you have a video call with your coworkers and need everyone to be quiet. 11. Use headphones and mute your microphone during conference calls (unless you're speaking) to minimize the amount of audio feedback and times that random sounds interrupt the conversation. Make a conference call highly recommend this tool Dingtalk Lite play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alibaba.dingtalk.global&hl=en_US
I agree: this is an awesome educational video What's your opinion about the niche of the work from home business? What’s a better way to work from home: to make money by selling unnecessary stuff or to make money by selling plant based solutions for a better health?
Great video Pat. I'm not there yet. I'm not working from home (*still hustling+working*) Nevertheless, all those tips hit home for me because as I'm building my online business I'm still juggling a 10-12 hours job, kids, wife, and other responsabilities and... ... I *forget to communicate* sometimes, *I don't pay attention* to my wife (rarely, but it happens) ... honestly, all hit home😊 My litle corner is a little DIY stand up desk in a little corner in my kitchen😀
Hello, great video! I've been working remotely since March 2022. I love it but it's starting to take its toll with isolation. I found your communication point very relatable and felt embarrassed to think that I don't communicate anything to anyone. I'll check out your other videos, thank you!
This is a great topic, I started working more at home and found that I had to come up with a routine and not allow others to dictate my schedule. Thanks

I recently started working from home and Im struggling....changing my outfit from Pj to actual clothes!!!!! Good one!!!! Thanks
You can do it. It is a struggle some days, but the next day you get to start afresh and do better. Wishing you well 🌸
Great video!
#4 has helped me so much. I schedule almost everything but move things around throughout the day if needed. 💪🏼
Great reminder that people around you need to know what your schedule will be. Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. Thanks Pat.
Maybe your best video yet! I work from home for 20 years and I was nodding at every single one of your points.
Highly recommended!
Dear Pat,
I used to watch a few videos of yours some years ago and notice how much you have evolved.
You rock. Love you!!
My best tip is keep to same routine as going into the office. Keep motivated even when the work systems go down. Teams chat has being my lifesaver
Great tip!

Working from home is new for me due to COVID-19. So, your tips are wonderful! Thank you so much!
4 months into remote work and I'm already tired af. I'm gonna start with aaaaall those tips you gave to see if it helps me! Thanks, man.
This has been a great resource. Especially the loneliness part. Working from home in an apartment I live in by myself when I'm used to being in an office with awesome coworkers.. Yeah. That loneliness hits hard.
Thank you man for sharing such valuable insights...
1. morning routine
2. beware of temptation that is not related to work
3. eat well
4. take a break
5. schedule parts of the day
6. communicate with people around me.
this is the tips that i will try to follow.
thanks a lot.
I came to the video looking for tips that'd help me get organized and motivated, because I have been struggling for the last few months. But I leave feeling like a friend has just given me good advice. Thank you for being so kind in your words!!
The most helpful tip is morning ritual. It’s bring you mentally to job. I have problem with that. I’m still sitting in pijamas ;p Thx Pat!

Thankyou!!
Love these tips.. working from home since 2012.. its always a challenge.. but worth it.
Christine, what specific part you like about WFH. Ours would be afternoon naps 🛌
*I agree. Workouts and sticking to your schedule is key.* 👍
Schedule and communication got my attention. And I'll definitely put some work clothes on :) I appreciate you are very present, Pat!
i don't know howcome i took this long to discover you! thank you for making this video. it so true to some of the things you brought up here. to compartmantalize stuffs are also important. what i really feel is true is about taking breaks and when you leave work, you leave. cause working from home, there's no boundary line. i find myself working all the time. well, thank you very much once again for this reminder and video!
DPM! My man, about to start my wfh journey tomorrow and did not expect to see you here. Pleasant surprise, thanks for all the help!
This video addressed literally every single issue and concern I've had as a college student learning from home. Thank you!
Last week I ran my first 5k without stopping and all the time I could hear the voice in my head saying that I can do it. Forwago, thank you so much for everything!!

The tip about - schedule the entire day - was very helpful. I need to think more holistically about the day as a unit. Thanks!
This has been such a helpful video! I really like the way you pitched a morning routine- it can we hard with an infant because sleep is so precious but its REALLY HELPFUL!
I like the communication with other people and take the break time parts. It's helpful for me. Thanks a lot
Thank you. I used to follow your blog about affiliate marketing. I am glad to find your channel. I am now working from home.
This video helped me sooooo much. I thought I was the only one struggling. Thank you for sharing !!
And lastly #4 Schedule day but remain flexible.
You are great and informative man.... Love from Syria
I've been working from home since March 2020 thanks to Covid. This video is great! Thanks for the tips.
Thank you ! Those were all awesome!!! Best video I’ve found to help educate me about working from home. Appreciate you . 😊
#10, #7, & # 4 are biggest problems when working from home. I get less work done an spend too much time on things that “don’t move the needle!” Thanks for this video. I’m an architect still working in an office, but tried going into business on my own from home.
You're da man Pat! I somehow found myself seeing all your new releases right away. Keep up the good work
most helpful tip for me is to Know what you are supposed to be doing. otherwise I may go off into a bunch of different directions and then feel guilty for not doing one of the main things on my list.
Great tips on how to structure your day and focus when you’re working from home.
watched this for my job, actually. lots of excellent tips and reminders. thank you!
God Bless.
As one already experienced two months working from home, here are my tips
Make a conference call highly recommend this tool Dingtalk Lite

Totally going for the “suit and tie”. Lol. Great vid Pat. Very motivating. Thanks
I agree: this is an awesome educational video
What's your opinion about the niche of the work from home business?

to make money by selling unnecessary stuff or
to make money by selling plant based solutions for a better health?

I think scheduling is super important and it's something I have not been doing which caused me to search for this video!
Thank you! Great tips I liked # 7 I work from home sometimes and I need to break it up and go to the library or Starbucks - for a change in scenery.
Thank you ❤ This was pretty intentional and I had takeaways. Thanks a lot for that.
This is the most useful video on this topic I've watched so far. Thank you!
Great video Pat. I'm not there yet. I'm not working from home (*still hustling+working*)
Nevertheless, all those tips hit home for me because as I'm building my online business I'm still juggling a 10-12 hours job, kids, wife, and other responsabilities and...
... I *forget to communicate* sometimes, *I don't pay attention* to my wife (rarely, but it happens) ... honestly, all hit home😊
My litle corner is a little DIY stand up desk in a little corner in my kitchen😀
Man I never seen any of your other videos but I like you already… keep it real man !
Thanks
High effort vid that totally pays off. Entertaining and informative, amazing work
