@@randomunderwebdweller there are a lot of mouses that can do more than the Magic Mouse. I really use the Mission Control, however I also use the switching between windows for same apps (control+down), and the Magic Mouse is the only one that doesn’t allow the user to configure this custom shortcut.
@@MarceloRafael00 even so, do you know of any mouse able to make use of MacOS smooth scrolling? For me at least, that is the main value of this mouse and the gesture support. Not being able to customize is not a big deal. A lot of people don’t bother to customize anyway. It’s just up to preference. It does not make the mouse bad. So I stand by what I said, functionality is good.
@@randomunderwebdweller it’s not a matter of opinion. It’s not ergonomic, nor customisable, you cannot use it while it’s charging, and like any apple device, you are only able to do what Apple allows. Smooth scrolling definitely is not a big deal compared to all shortcomings you have in this mouse. I have this mouse that my company gave me, and I swear, I’ve really tried to use it a lot of times. You definitely need to make a big effort to ignore all shortcomings of this mouse
I’ve been using magic mouse for a few years, then I bought mx master 3s for mac been using it too 1y or more. Here are a few things you missed to mention but may be very important to some. Magic mouse very easy to clean it never gets dirty, battery life seems to last a lot longer than 3S, and 3S gets very dirty fast and almost impossible to clean. Rubber material of 3S is very bad in my opinion. Also 3S is very big many people wont feel comfortable with it, try and you will see what im saying. As for the features 3S I think has more, but most of the things you daily do both mouses will support, and with touch scroll on magic mouse you can precisely move where you want. Also 3S clicks are silent first few weeks then it start to make noise on every 2nd or 3rd click very annoying. I am personally returning to magic mouse soon just to get the black version :)
Yeah I see what you're saying. I still prefer the 3S even after years of using the magic mouse. The comfort has been great for me. I haven't had issues with the worn out rubber yet but I don't eat at the computer either so not sure if that has anything to do with it.
@@adamtalkstech I don't eat above the 3S or at computer either, this mouse simply gets dirty quickly from normal usage and there are many complaints about this from other people, in order to clean it you would have to open the mouse. On the other hand one swipe over magic mouse surface and its clean. In my opinion I would replace it just because of this even if it had better comfort and more features, but everyone can decide for themself what they think is more important..
If you consider it as a one button mouse, it becomes closer to a finger on iOS. Probably the intention because Steve fought heavily against multiple input mice.
I know this is an older video but from my experience, I can use my magic mouse and magic keyboard throughout my devices. I have two M1 Macbook Pros and an iPad Pro. How am I doing this, I will tell you how I am doing this. They all use the same Apple ID.
Even with the downsides, I am still getting this mouse because it’s the only one I know that is capable of smooth scrolling. I read a lot of web novels/comics and the smooth scrolling in MacOS is the best way to enjoy it.
I just purchased a magic mouse and just tried using it on a standard mouse pad, but its very unresponsive. I noticed on a lot of surfaces, the mouse lens is barely picking them up and only works on a flat hard surface. Does this mouse work on standard mouse pads for you?
I find that I don't even need to use a mouse pad, but when i do it still is effective, perhaps see if you can try a new one / get a replacement or someone to look at it.
Apple Mouse looks great but, 1.) too heavy 2.) Side swipes end the fingers on the sides, where it should not be bent 3.) the straight edges dig into skin. It's great for casual users, but if you are at your computer 10 hours a day, it really adds up. I use a razor viper v2 pro, it is missing a lot of features but it is so light it doesn't hurt my wrist or fingers. I really wish they consider finger and wrist joint health when designing this stuff.
I have a Magic Mouse that I've used with an iPad Pro, but I have my first ever Macbook Pro (M2 Pro) on its way - I have used Windows since 3.1 - so was pleased to realise that the Magic Mouse would work with the MBP. The thing is, I just thought it was an iPad mouse, and I knew nothing about gestures, so it's all very exciting. I was going to get a Master 3S for the MBP as I have used MX series mice since forever, and have used a Master 3S with my Windows 11 desktop for several years. But after watching this, I cancelled the Master 3S for the MBP, and will give the Magic Mouse a proper try. So thanks for putting me straight. One thing I am wondering about, is that I've watched another review which complained about the Master 3S low poling rate of just 90hz. My Windows one seems to work smoothly enough, but the reviewer said his was jerky with his MBP. I guess I can try my current 3S using the dongle, and decide after that.
