I’ve been sober for about 2 years. Don’t know how many days that is and I don’t care. For me keeping track of the days was a reminder of exactly how long ago I was a fuck up. I believe at a certain point you should just put it behind you and forget about it instead of constantly reminding yourself of your mistakes and white knuckling your way through life.

But in reality sobriety has given him all those things he was looking for when he was getting high. Now he is happy without drugs and alcohol.

Negative, if drugs were legal not only would prices be a tiny fraction of what they currently cost. But the ill affects from them would be lessened to such a degree that they would be as easy as antidepressants to get off of and as impacting as a cup of coffee. This is both subjective and factual. Some stances ive never let up on over the years. This is one of them. Good day.

I really hit rock bottom a few weeks ago. I lost my 3rd job in a row, was in deep tax debt and unemployable. I blamed everything except the fact I drank 20-30 units of alcohol a day. As soon as I embraced sobriety, things have drastically improved. I was having daily panic attacks when I woke up that would last 20 minutes and would leave me exhausted. I now jump out of bed full of energy. I used to throw up every single morning pure bile and acid, now I can actually eat again. If you are struggling, know you are not alone. There are 130m+ alcoholics in the world, and millions of drug addicts. Know you are not your addiction, you will beat it, and you will be free!

I doubt Brandon will see this but I got arrested last year and left fulton county jail, homeless on christmas eve of 2020. I slept outside in a parking garage before I was picked up by two Georgia tech police officers. I was freezing to death. I had a Shirt pulled over my knees. I wound up back on methadone for 10 days before entering treatment and during that time I watched this video. the similarities were uncanny! We had almost the exact same story of addiction right down to sleeping outside on Christmas eve! I was in tears watching this and entered rehab. I have now been out of rehab for a while and am still active in recovery. I have even taken a couple guys through the 12 steps. I start Monday as a halfway house manager. You have no idea how much this story meant to me brandon. Maybe our paths will cross one day.

    I work in addiction counseling.
No matter how many times you've been in rehab, in treatment, in intensive outpatient, don't give up hope. I've seen folks fail for years, then suddenly put themselves back together, sober up, and have a truly free life.
It's never too late to rebuild who you are into who you want to be.
We're all cheering you on. We might be corny, naive, or whatever, but we honestly care about you, and want for you to succeed. It hurts when you don't, but it makes everything worthwhile when you do.

As using other drugs to lessen the withdrawals will only stretch out the detoxing process. I inow 3-4 days can seem like forever when you're actually going through it. But hang in there.. Maybe s sleeping pill at night after the 4th day. But I wouldn't try it much sooner. I've done a medicated detox and a non medicated detox.. The medicated was rapid reduction using Subutex. They gave it yo me 3 times a day for 3 days. She only took it twice a day and 3rd day once. The remainder of the 4 days was them monitoring me. Thst was s pretty easy detox. Although some left after the 3rd day. To go shoot up the subutex, that they were diverting. They must have been doing it tough. To go yo detox yo get drugs...lol.

We get waves o panic and doubt and huge NEED for our drug, but remember thats how the disease affects your brain. It still is telling you that you NEED the H like you need water to survive. But try to remember this is what your brain has been mis-WIRED to do. Try to remember those wires have to be fixed and re-wired into a healthy place. Youre still in the process. It sadly takes a while to do, but DONTthrow it all away! You went through the hardest part with the physical withdrawals and now you gotta keep fighting! Youve got this! I’ve watched this 3 times. I just got out of detox yesterday. It was hell. I hallucinated the entire time..opioids...over 500 mgs of oxy a day, about 22 a day.. didn’t care, are them like candy, stole, lied., lost a ton of shit. This video GOT ME INTO DETOX. Your life is so worth it. I’m in a bunch of great recovery programs now. 6 days sober, but I’m going a day at a time: thank you, Brandon. You helped save my fucking life. With tears in my eyes, i thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you are struggling..... you can do it. You are worth it.

3 years ago i was addicted to pin killers... my life was falling apart rapidly.. my girlfriend of 7 years left me. Because of my addiction i lost my mind my car my job.. the only one who didnt give up on me was my mother. No matter how bad the devil had his hand on my soul.. she truly belived i could fight off the demons.... i was jeading towards death fast. God rest her soul she passed away last Christmas... im now 3 years sobor and stronger then ever. I have her ashes in a gold cross necklace that i wear ever day. To remind me of how much she has made me a better person. My mind has been a blur i forget things sometimes and i feel that all i can do is push forward and keep my faith with her and god.. this meditating music has helped keep me at peace. Stay alive strive for better theres alwaysgoing to be a rainy day.

    I am an alcoholic.
It’s hard to just be “done” with alcohol.
My drinks just wash away who I was, I don’t even know who I am.
I’ve lost friends when I’ve opened up, because I just front a sober life and appearance.
I’m a loser drunk, who functions well but knows how shitty they’ve become.
    A ghost of themselves.
I’ve grown to hate myself, because I drink, and know I can change. I don’t change, and it’s a horrible cycle.
I don’t know how to live life without alcohol... “just don’t drink” right?
    I will try again.

Hey there, I’m with you, I understand exactly how you feel. It suck!! Hopefully tomorrow will be the day I get fixed right? I feel the intensity about everything you said. But my thing isn’t alcohol, it’s all drugs. Anything that will change the way I feel. Even if I don’t like the feeling of a certain substance, I’m ok with it as long as it’s creating a different feeling inside my mind. I’d prefer ANYTHING to normalcy. It’s sad....
I don’t know anything else about you hun, and I don’t think I need to. That’s you.... and I’m not a therapist or counselor and I’m definitely nothing of importance. but Gods honest truth, my Father has the cure for us. Hit me up if you can. Insurectmetal@gmail.com my name is Joe

I feel such empathy for other people like me who have been cursed with addictive personalities, I've been an alcoholic since I was seventeen years old. If there is one thing I am thankful for, it's that I never picked up heroin, because I know I would be dead by now.

I'm a high functioning alcoholic so I too, hit the wine everynight and since I'm a closet drinker..so, only my husband and kids know my suffer and have seen me at my worst, when I drink to much. I try soooo much but, I just want to give up on life at time. Keep trying and hang in there. ❤

I saw this years ago and thought to myself "13 times in rehab. Ive got forever to go...". Sobriety just never seemed possible. I should have known better, my earliest memories were going to the methadone clinic with my grandparents (they raised me as their son), they warned me. Obviously i didn't listen. I remember all the times i was in tears telling my grandfather i was never going to become something other than a junkie and him telling me i didnt know what life would bring ans he never gave up on me. Lost the relationship with the girl ive never stopped loving, i should be married. Dope changed all that. Once youre strung out for so long you dont understand that the gray world you see before you doesn't stay that way. I got clean with the help of methadone, peer support, sober living etc. I realized how many years id not felt happiness. I woke up this morning at 5 and was thrilled to go to work, i believe ill go back to school in the not too distant future and become a chemical dependency counselor and give people like myself the chamce to be happy and give their kids the childhood i was blessed to have and went to waste because of dope. On the 21st of this month ill have a year. If you read this, I love you and wish you the best
