- The oldschool runescape meta has shifted, and the economy is coming along with it. Recently we finally received one of the biggest parts of the osrs equipment rebalance. This included changes to the blowpipe, the dragon hunter crossbow, the twisted buckler and more. It also introduced a few new items.
The bow of faerdhinen particularly had a massive effect on the economy. Today I am going to be talking about how this has changed the runescape economy, as well as anything interesting in the market this month. As always these are just my opinions, and are not meant to be advice on investing

Whats good to mention is that our buying power has essentially stayed the same since everything has dropped. Very few if any end game items have rose in price.

I bought 16 thammarons sceptres back when they were like 1.3m a pop knowing those suckers were gonna blow up one day.
It also helped that Jagex mentioned them in a livestream around 6 months ago talking about making it BIS for wildy PvM by potentially changing it to something akin to a trident or giving it a ancients esque pvm spell

Any thoughts on the blog about the bans related to world crashing and item duplication? Do you think that could have been part of what was affecting the economy?

Not too mention the prices for the dragon pickaxe is also increasing
Don't forget about the tremendous gains of the Rapier due to it being somewhat tied to the price of it's closest alternative, the Blade of Saeldor.
tbh its in a good spot now because the rapier is by far the worst of the 3 top tier 1h melee weapons

hi, I'm a data scientist by trade; doing what you're saying is pretty much limited to the ultra-rich, and it's not worth the time or risk to do this with the kind of capital that is attainable by the average person (basic risk-averse do-nothing strategies pull 6% annually anyway, which is good enough for stuff like retirement), but if you have the skills you can make a normal tech salary working for the teams that manage the ultra-rich's money -- a normal tech salary being enough to retire after anywhere from 5 to 10 years if you save aggressively and don't give in to lifestyle creep.
@You Tube it's completely relevant. The average person simply does not have the resources to trade margins, and most people who have the skills use them to make money for the wealthy, not for themselves.
I got a TBOW for 710m, the next day it was back 900m I am not complaining.

Do you typically cover only big ticket items? It would interesting to get your take on Nature runes atm given the new Arceuus spells. or just runes arceuus related runes. nats have gone from like 165->200 and could should potentially reach 250+

The new bow is definitely valuable for the memes. It’s called Bowfa in game by players and I’ve seen it referred to as the bow of faerdinan shidden
They need to make a bow and shield that only works if you have both something like buckler and a short bow. Because in reality people wore small round shields with short bows to run into battle

I’m interested in items like spectral spirit shield and dragon war hammer, I would assume these items would go up because of combat achievements coming, but they are still going down.
I reckon combat achievements won't lead to any significant changes. The rewards are limited to things like Slayer helmet recolors and xp lamps.
The increase price of the hilt is going back up because you can't trade it once used. So it's not flooding the market as expected because once used your stuck with it
But they keep coming into the game, and all wealthy players already have them, and the poors can't afford. Its all about supply and demand. My guess is it will crash. Just like the blowpipe, its an enormous strong weapon but since there are just to many coming in to the game, the price decreased far under the actual 'value' of the item.

I haven’t been playing for nearly 3 years. I still follow a handful of Osrs content on TH-cam. I just wanna say that this is the most hopeful economy of Osrs video I’ve seen in a long time. I hope things continue to stabilize and that raids 3 is released soon! It feels pretty unacceptable from the outside looking in now that new PVM content takes years to release. The economy has become stagnant due to no new pvm content. Everyone working for all bid gear have reached it, and there isn’t enough new players to keep up the demand. More new pvm content as well as more new gear needs to be a priority for the team. People love to scream power creep in all mmorpg’s, but bosses can be buffed/nerfed.

Ge track is not 100% Accurate on the price value of the item statistically is better to keep some items since it’s the Market after all.
prices.runescape.wiki is the best real time(ish) for prices, its even better than the runelite plugin somehow when the data is partially from runelite

@@externalboss9404 I feel like it could potentially happen after how wild the economy has been recently. I personally would vote for it. Don't see how it can be a bad thing. A new skill to get players excited and a skill that helps the economy. Seems like a win win

you missed out on the right time to buy the t bow, just buy the new bow and corrupt it. it is extremely op i hardly miss with crystal armor and slayer helm (i only use the crystal armor when safespotting so I don't lose charges on it). I don't need to pay for arrows and hit 42's without using prayer at 98 range with just the cheapest potions.

price of big items are gonna dump when combat achievements drops...
Why would they, I think the correction already happenend for the big ticket items, and theyll go up as they have a new usecase.
The problem with the osrs economy is simple. People expect it to act like an economy based on goods that degrade and break over time. Others treat items as stocks, and play the market. The fact that more items will always come into the game and very few items will leave the game gives all items nowhere to go but down. Everyone freaks out at the slightest blog post and prices go wild, then people that didn't read the post see the price tank and panic sell, pumping more items into the market tanking the price further. Everybody gets down about items crashing and dont expect them to come back up, so continue to pay and sell for the lower prices. We dictate what these items are worth to us people. if we want them to be worth more, just dont sell for any less than you think the item is worth. If enough people get on board, thats what the item is worth.
A lot of these prices are what they were before an onslaught up updates making use of these items, yes new items come into the game, but at the same time more people are getting the levels and gp to buy em, people who havent played for years come back all the time. I'm hoping they release a arena type challenge where you can do it as a mid/high level group or max tier solo and you get something extra for doing it solo

You don't understand the meaning of demand and supply. Why would nerfed or buffed items go to their old price?
The overall economy yes, but changed items will for the better or worse will reflect permanent change.
