- With today's update the entire ranged meta for oldschool runescape has just changed. For over a year now we have been waiting for the blowpipe nerf, and today its finally here. Today's update covers the equipment rebalance for ranged, the new Phosani's nightmare and small changes from poll #75
Today also sees the release of a brand new ranged weapon, the new amethyst dart and a bunch of other tweaks to existing ranged items. This will shake up the meta way more than any of the other equipment rebalancing changes. This is a very core change and will have a big effect. Today is also the release of the nightmare of ashihama hard mode, so there is a lot to talk about.

11:00 the monster artwork has “armor” influenced by Mayan architecture and the surrounding buildings that it’s destroying look _very_ similar to structures in RS3 Menaphos (based on what I saw in a Google image search bc I stopped playing RS3 a long time back). It would make sense that there are tentacles on the monster since Menaphos is supposedly on the coast and an ocean creature attacking the city fits. Seems too large of a monster to add as part of a quest, so either a new group boss or even-yes-raids 3.
I heard Varlamore is also going to have similar aesthetics, I'm hoping its Menaphos though, the desert really needs an update.

We want variety, but we'll nerf everything and buff only certain weapons, making those weapons the only sought after items.

So, I don't know if you are still paying attention to videos from this long ago, but would it be possible for you to make a guide/video about where you should no longer use the blowpipe because of the changes? for example, is it still a viable method of killing vorkath? I haven't played for most of 2021 so I haven't experienced any of the changes yet
I’m bad but wanting to try for fire cape in the next month or so, planned on blowpipe. Is there a better method now? Or should blowpipe still preform well for fire cape?

fire cape is easy without blowpipe. its the inferno that takes a massive hit with this
If you having trouble with Jad you are gonna be afraid of other hight level content this game have to offer...
Cerberus - ghosts that each hit 30 and drain 30 pray at the same time.
Abyssal sire - you will need to move after every hit and use blood spells to heal if you want to kill more then one per trip.
Zulrah - specific safespots for specific rotations and she has a Jad phase to!
Alchemical hydra - changes attack style every 3 attacks doing a special attack in between. Ohh and she has a jad phase too!
Solo raids - Olm Has these attacks:
Fire wall (hits up to 60)
Orbs - drains half of ur current pray points and does half of your current hp if you use wrong pray.
Crystals - apears under you (just need to move or up to 40 damage)
Swiching attacks between range and mage randomly.
Teleports - does 5 damage for every step ur off the spot you are teleported to (sometimes olm can teleport you into fire wall so he can deal 60+60 damage in practicly one game tick)

@@TheEstafista damn bro we get it, there are harder bosses than Jad. He simply mentioned that it sucks to have an item nerf before he makes his attempt.
Do you think rookies on Jad are supposed to be able to do all of those bosses before their fire cape? Every single boss you mentioned is much harder than Jad, so obviously they take time and skill to learn and therefore a Jad rookie isn’t expected to be skilled enough to handle them easily. No one solo’s raids before Jad, no one does Cerb or Hydra before Jad. Jad is the intro to bossing, and it’s totally reasonable to feel frustration that your strategy for accomplishing that is nerfed when you first start.
@@TheEstafista dont be so sour, i killed zulrah many times before failing jad 6 times. It was the hour lost what stressed me out. Nowadays im do all kinds of end game bosses, anyone learns. Also alot of the bosses u mention are way easier then jad
Why didn't they just make the new bow work without the crystal armor like the blade? Seems like a wasted opportunity and them just not wanting to make an old bp replacement too soon.
I mean the whole point was that the old BP was overpowered and needed a nerf. Replacing it with something just as strong kind of defeats the purpose
@@Prilosac I suppose, but the difficulty it takes to even get the bow should negate all that. Either that or nerf the blade so it isn't bis single hand for slash. I'm joking slightly but it seems like that's what they'll go for in the end. Looks like they'll want to go the RS3 jump without the whole flip.
The mods said that the new continent south of Zeah Varlamour is inspired by aztec and roman spartans so it could be a part of that maybe?

I found a book in kourend that hasnt been documented on the wiki. Its tslking about a danger thats been awoken that can freeze everything and its coming back acording to the man. Whether hes talking about freezing time or in actual ice? I dont know, but it sounds like its a new upcoming boss.

my bet is that the artwork you showed at the end is just artwork. Jagex drags their feet on every project they propose, so even if it was "summer content" it wouldn't be until summer of 2023

Blow pipe was hard to get at the start which it seemed fair at the time as a reward now there's bots which have decreased the value and they have dropped the price due to this update they have basically killed the weapon due to bad work of bot detection well done osrs

Is the bp even worth using anymore? Ive been looking forward to 75 range (73now) but its gotten 2 nerfs in like 3 months. All these new items are basically inpossible to use for anyone who plays casually.

Slightly if you use bp, but they reduced the healers hp by 5. Also, the bp nerf isn’t overdone; some people tested at hydra and still hit consistently. About the same kill time as well.
Yea I've been using it today and haven't noticed a difference. 95 range using addy darts. Honestly biggest change I saw was the market crash 🤣

@@thecitizen6860 Oh yeah right! Absolutely my fault that I lost like 200m (which is like a third of my bank) over the past few months due to the economy and todays update. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to act like a dick and I'm well aware of the fact that you're actually right. If I would sell everything I won't use for more than a day or so and rebuy it if needed I wouldn't have lost nearly as much. But the problem itself would be still there, and I never played a game where I lost so much gold in such a short amount of time before. I'm fine with the fact that items lose value over time as it's natural. But the stuff which is currently happening is starting to ruin it for me. For me MMO's are all about collecting stuff and not selling your bank asap before you lose even more gold.

@@Tenroh92 if you were collecting it then the current gold value doesn’t really matter. You’re collecting it not selling it. You worked harder to get it maybe sure but things always devalue over time to varying degrees. It’s not like the price graphs for these items are straight lines until the past couple months. They trend mostly downwards fairly consistently.
I’m the same type of player, I hoard everything. I was frustrated too until I realized I was never going to recoup the gold from those items regardless of what the price point is.

It's just that faster weapons will have more DPS in general, it's a mechanical principle and it's not an easy fix. They would have to buff longbow max hits massively to keep up, or nerf shortbows a bit as well.

The mechanics aren't any different. If you know how jad works and how to do the waves you are fine with most weapons
It's going to be more supply intensive, people will use more prayer pots and food than before, but not really more difficult

Yep! The game seems to be going downhill really really quickly. Its really upsetting that Ironman is about the only thing worth playing now. I hate the idea of buying a late game item and a week later losing 10% of its value.
I predict the game will be almost completely dead by 2022. Its dying faster than it was in mid 2013
Sell half your items when you take a break that way only half your bank value drops an the gold you would have would go up in value

Don't you buy items to use them? Not sure if buying a dhcb to camp vorkath is considered an "investment" if the main profit comes from camping the boss instead of the small price increase the dhcb could have had in a good market.
Really sucks for my 1 def brutal black dragon alt, that uses a dhc but can't use any of the offhands to increase range strength. lol

It's basically just a -1 maxhit. Accuracy is pretty irrelevant vs low defence.
@@Benkkuful I can't get within 20 seconds of my PB at hydra, even with 100 defence, it's still very significant. Also it's not 1 max hit, it's several.
@@iDrunkRS Blowpipe lost 20 ranged strength but darts also got buffed so it depends. Roughly speaking with addy darts you lose 2 maxhit. With rune and dragon you lose 1. The new amethysts darts are pretty much as good as old blowpipe with addy darts (48str vs old 50) expect less accurate. They are significantly more expensive though. And yeah it is significant vs anyone with any defence. Vs 0 defence opponents like a lot of the slayer tasks you'd use blowpipe on its pretty insignificant.

It doesn't really matter for jad. You can easily do that with magic shortbow (i) or karil's crossbow.
Crystal bow on longrange for the healers because you can shoot them from across the map without running into jad

The bow is tradable from what I've heard, the corrupt version is not after charging it with 2k shards.
The new bow, along with the Blade of Saeldor, are now untradeable. Only the Enhanced Crystal Weapon Seed is tradable.

When they said the Phosani's nightmare was supposed to be faster kills did they mean only compared to solo nightmare kills? Because they're nowhere near as fast as group kills.
Compared to solos on normal nm. Max gear kills at phosani are 7-8 min, bludgeon and swamp trident 11-12min

@@Nick-ij5nt The droprates are rumoured to be 20-25% better, we still don't know. If you like a drop to be truly yours then do solo hard mode. If you like group nm then split teams is still the best I guess

All of your existing charges are divided by 10-so now you have 4,000 charges.

Arceuus spells shred nechrayels, hitting over 35-40 each hit with mark of darkness, and take little damage with ward on. Great alternative when not able to burst/barrage

You said the crystal armour gives 20% accuracy for the full set but the graph you showed has 15% +5%+10% which is 30. I assume you just misspoke but wanted to let you know.
