      Lol I have had a Canon T6, a Lumix G7, a Canon RP and a Sony A7iii and I can tell you that gear definitely matters lol.
      Canon glass is unobtainable for enthusiasts, imo. You don't need an FX6 shooting 240p at 24k iso but having 120p and fast glass on an uncropped full frame camera is definitely going to give you a whole new world compared to throwing a Rebel with a kit lens at a project. You won't continue the art if you don't like the results of your work, and you can't learn to color grade if you don't have a gradable format available.

      @@JohnJonesRocketCity it only feels that way but the fx9 is has a lot of pro features the fx6 doesn't have. Remote proxy editing from another part of the world if need be for news gathering, the super 35 mode the super 16 and sony to be B4 accessible. this is always the case though the cameras compliment each other. B-Cam for Fx9 just like the a7sIII is to the fx6.

    I have waited for over a year for this camera .I sold my almost New Fs5MkII about a year ago.I am not a professional.I could wait. I rationalized my Still camera setup and built a new computer . I favor small form factor Cine cameras over Mirror-less. I considered other options, the Canon C300 MkIII the C70 and a Kinefinity LF and also the Z Cam E2 FS6 all of which are great cameras but as I have already experienced the Sony Eco system I Pre-ordered the FX6 about 3 hours ago actually about an hour and a half after its launch. It looks to fulfill all my needs and expectations. You mentioned something about having a good story no matter what camera you have , wise words indeed, but of course having a great tool to work with helps . So start with the best you can afford and make the best of it. I think people moan too much about Sony's Menu system, yes its far from perfect but actually I find makes you think more about what you are doing or at least that was my experience with the Fs5. Now I have to agonize over which lenses to use but then that's definitely a first world problem I just whatsapp'ed a friend in Donetsk in Ukraine where there has been an ongoing conflict since 2014 so it makes my concerns about lens choice seem somewhat insignificant!

    If you get a chance to talk to your contacts at Sony I hope you can ask them if they can please make a breakout box for the two XLR connectors that could bolt to the top of the FX6 and plug into the handle input. It’s really the one glaring easily solvable problem with the design, in my view. Timm Stemenn from Chroziel, (On the FB FX6 FX9 user group page) says they are also looking into producing a breakout box. It seems like someone with 3D Printer skills could easily design a box and we would just have to figure out how to rewire taking the existing handle apart.

    Great video and excellent camera ;) Remember that 12800 It's not a second native ISO, it's kind of like an extra better calibrated ISO. It is not Dual Native ISO because the noise level in the extended range is slightly higher.

    Great video 😊 Question - How are you rating the low and high base ISO? At their native base of 800 and 12800? Or are you rating them lower to overexpose and get a cleaner image? I've been rating my FX6 at 500 for the low base and 3200 for the high base. 500 cleans up the shadows a bit, I've noticed they can get a bit noisy rating it at 800 . Rating the camera at 12800 I found it way too noisy, so choose to rate it at 3200 to over expose it 2 stops. Makes it nice and clean. Thanks again for a great video 😊👍👍👍

    • @markbone
      @markbone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because I shoot with a very crunchy LUT on my small HD I often boost my exposure to begin with so yeah. I dunno if I’m rating it as low as 3200 but the Sony sensor is good in low light but loves more light

    I shoot with the FS5 often and the top handle XLR input is my least favorite. It sucks they are now both located there, it's clunky and cables just get in the way. Although it does say a lot that it might be the only negative? Everything considered the entire package looks pretty amazing!

    I'd love to see a comparison against the Z Cam F6! $3999, LF, 6k 60, 4k 120, up to 14bit 422, dual ISO and analog gain, interchangeable mounts, built in wireless monitoring and control, optional eND, also runs on Sony L-Series batteries, and is a cube. Probably this camera's biggest competitor.

      It has no AF, so you cant do gun n gun gimbal stuff etc

    • @FTGTapGod
      @FTGTapGod 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smepable it has autofocus just contrast autofocus so it won't be able to compete with Sony. Yet! They are developing a external focus module that will use depth detection and AI.
      But it is still a cinema camera and traditionally those don't have autofocus. You also generally have a focus puller in those situations. But I understand that people are looking at these cameras for small freelance work and they might need autofocus in certain situations. I myself haven't looked for autofocus on a camera in a while, but hopefully the new module will help those who do.

    • @FTGTapGod
      @FTGTapGod 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smepable I will add that I actually do a ton of run n gun work in my freelance business, but run with manual cinema lenses. So I'm pulling focus 100% of the time when I do solo work, even on a gimbal. So you definitely can do that without autofocus and it's actually what I prefer. Autofocus isn't yet capable of full creative control. I want to decide how fast a rack is, where the focus is being placed in the frame, the timing, and just generally how I want the image to look. That is something that comes with manual focusing and it's something I feel everyone should learn. It's just another stepping stone as a filmmaker.

    Awesome review. So, the elephant in the room...how much difference does the FX9's oversampled from 6K sensor make? Is there visibly less detail on FX6? I have seen a similar comparison done between the A7S3 and older A73, with the older camera being noticeably more detailed as it is oversampled from a 6K readout, though this point is usually lost amongst all the crooning that now we can shoot at a bazillion ISO.
