  • Stripping down the frame, rust treatment and a fresh coat of paint. I've said this project isn't a restoration but it seems like it's getting closer to that with every part of the project I take on.

    Nice to see you at it again! Try using oven cleaner the next time you need to clean a gunky under carriage component again. Spray it on and let it sit about 20 minutes. Then scrub and power wash. Does wonders.

    Great video, sir. I have been down the same path this last week. Degreasing, pressure washing and removing parts. After painting, it'll be ready to reassemble. (Insert waiting on rain to stop as I too work somewhat in the driveway) Thanks for posting !

    I know there are plenty of other videos on replacing, cutting, patching panels, cab corners, rockers, etc. But it would be cool to see your approach. Hope we get to see some footage of that as well.

    I started watching when you shortened the box but haven’t gotten to watch the newer videos, hope you got to enjoy it for awhile before tearing it down again. You’re doing a great job rebuilding the truck, can’t wait to watch more👍

      I drove it for a bit but the in-line 6 with the single barre carburetor was a pain in the ass and my transmission stopped shifting into second. So if that was coming out, it made sense to tear it down and do it all right.

    good to see you back at it I was just wondering the other day when youd be doing another update, I had actually just finished painting the frame for my c10 that made me think of yours, I also used VHT chassis and roll bar paint. I went crazy though and wire wheeled my whole frame to bare metal now im getting ready to install my cpp c-notches, trailing arm cross member and the front cross member lol look forward to your next video keep them coming

    The problem with rattle bomb paint, even VHT is it stays kinda soft. You can always touch it up though. DuPont Emeron is a good way to go.

    If you got the pads from CPP (aka Chinese performance parts) I highly recommend getting an upgrade version. They are the worst pads ever. Tons of dust and they squeak really bad.

    • @paulkc10
      @paulkc10  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      pads are from Early Classic. Likely the same pads I would imagine

    • @tokslut
      @tokslut 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sparkyguy277 do you have the car/truck model CPP grabbed the calipers from so it will be easier to find better pads? Thanks!

    Thanks for the great how tos. Very helpful. I'm working on '65 C10. Amateur. One question: why did you go with the VHT Chassis & Roll Bar over an Eastwood chassis paint? Were you worried about compatibility with the Eastwood rust encapsulator at all? Thanks

    Really appreciate your videos. Helped me a ton in my C10 build so far. Much thanks. I am very curious why you replaced the upper control arms and not also the lower. Are they an improvement over OEM? I'm about to tear apart my front-end and it's a bit overwhelming.

    • @daviddolezal1921
      @daviddolezal1921 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same question

    • @jt8251
      @jt8251 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daviddolezal1921 I figured it out... upper control arms are where most of the alignment happens. If you lower your C10 with drop spindles, the stock upper control arms require a lot of shims to get proper alignment where these aftermarket tubular upper control arms are designed with an offset for lowered trucks, requiring fewer shims. Lower control arms are not adjustable hence the reason the don't really need to be replaced.

    How many cans did you use on your frame, Ive been talking and looking around at and about frame paints. I wanna go with Eastwood’s frame paint but now I wanna look at that rust reformer. Notice the video was post a year too, how’s it holding up?

    • @paulkc10
      @paulkc10  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1 of the rust encapsulator and 2 or 3 of the chassis paint

    Dude what’s that part you took off at 3.08, trying to identify for parts, Is it the sway bar? What are the front facing arms that attach to the chassis so I can order the right bushes please?

    • @paulkc10
      @paulkc10  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was all the steering components. That particular part is the drag/center link. For the front facing arms I think you mean the bumper brackets.
