The BEST Trailer Hitch Upgrade? CITYMONS Endo-Hitch Test & Review!
In this episode we test CITYMONS new Endo-Hitch that's relatively new on the market. Two of the major features they tout is their Anti-Rattle and the built in Anti-Theft. Two things that make it very intriguing to Dana and I. With that being said, we had to agree to test and compare it to our current Reese hitch for each of you.

    While rattle can be an issue, proper hitch height largely eliminates this along with having enough hitch weight. Youre currently set with the tounge far too high on that little trailer with it unloaded so the balance point has it rocking back. The fact this over complicated hitch is still moving around with just your hands and even more with zero hitch weight means nothing was solved. Nice ad though...

    I got a anti rattle clamp for $20, the one with a U shaped bolt with a plate with a slight bend in it, I can use it on every kind of hitch both 1.25" and 2", including a bike rack or cargo basket. It literally does not rattle at all, unlike yours where it still rattles a little bit and you're limited to a tow ball hitch.

    Your first problem is not the hitch, but the receiver is worn out, and the Forerunner and Santa Fe that you're pulling trailers with. Second problem is the trailer has no tongue weight. But seriously, that is a great hitch and review. I might just get one myself. I like the locking pins.

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Dave. Thanks for watching and sharing the kind words. We appreciate it. I could see your first argument as a possibility had this only be happening in the 4Runner (hitch is only 4-5 years old though) however on the Santa Fe, the hitch is only 2 years old and isn't used very much at all. For your second argument, you are correct, when with lighter trailers, this happens. Pretty common sense, however there are times when you do tow something that is light. For example, to save money we towed an empty uhaul trailer for 13 hours. Heard that rattling the entire way. When we tow our 16 ft., all steel trailer, no noise. Glad you enjoyed the review overall. Cheers!

    my way is a little cheaper drill a hole in bottom or side of receiver weld a nut over the hole put your bolt in and tighten have 60+ years on the farm this has always worked and has never caused a problem

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi bobrowe. Thanks for watching and sharing. We appreciate it. I can certainly see how that would be a cheaper hack with the same result for farm use. For those that don't have a welder or access to one, that might be a little more difficult to make work. Just something to think about. Cheers!

    • @bobrowe3273
      @bobrowe3273 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      i totally agree for this to work you do have to have a welder, down side to this approach. not something most people have in their garage unless you are on the farm. where i disagree is that this is not only for farm use . i added that to make the point if it will hold up for 60 years of farm work it's going to work for anything i use the same thing with my boat and motorcycle trailers what some people call a hack a farmer will call innovation.

    2023 Santa Fe PHEV here! I want to mention that those tools DID NOT fit for me. The drain plug for the filter cap was a codder pin type design, no use for the 5/16 Allen driver as mentioned. Also my cap uses a 15/16" socket (not 1 1/16) this video was the only place I found a call-out for these tools, so hopefully I save someone the headache of being under the car with the wrong tool. Check your socket sizes first! (Or by multiple sizes to cover your @$$) Wanted to also mention yes to the safety goggles! The cover makes it look clean but so much dirt gets trapped under there!

    Well .... I have a Mercedes with a cruise control low of 15mph. It makes post office and school zones very convenient, relieved of the duty of monitoring speed. I think BMW will set at 10mph.. It would be nice if manufacturers paid a bit more attention to CC. I don't have the remote motion, nor the volume memory, and I did not opt in for the "distronic" package. Hyundai does seem to be ahead in the features category, and for the price, I'm not sure there's better. A car is a personal thing, and I love my Merc. I know a guy with a Ford pickup with over 400K miles, and he loves that pickup! Just curious: will the Santa Fe move with the tailgate open? I ask because there's an easy way to clean out the back if it will (re: Bill Engvalls).

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Dave, thanks for watching and the laugh! I agree that not enough auto manufacturers pay attention to the needs of the consumer when it comes to setting the lowest cruise control speeds, but I can tell you that the drive assist function is AMAZING in stop-and-go and low speed zones. I find that I use it frequently on my commute into the office. We agree that a vehicle is a more personal choice and we do our best not to judge others' choices or builds, but I think that's simply because we are "car people." Yes, our Santa Fe will drive with the tailgate open, blaring its warning alarm the entire way. While you could absolutely put it in sport mode and floor it to clear out the cargo area, (LOL), you'd put some serious scratches in the rear bumper cover if you did. There are a lot of safety (I call them nanny) features, but I chose this vehicle because I can choose to override them all. I can ignore the door open alarm enough to ferry trash bins to/from the road, I can drive it up/down my driveway without a seatbelt on, and I can disable enough of the other features to have a normal driving experience. Thanks again for watching and the laugh; take care and stay safe in your Merc!

      Hi Lidsman, thanks for watching and asking! We now have close to 55k miles on our 2022 Calligraphy and we still love it. You can see from our other Santa Fe videos that we do as much of our own maintenance as we can without voiding warranties. The only issue that we have experienced thus far was needing to have the sunroof readjusted at the dealer which was covered under warranty (it would not close). We did have to sign a paper stating we would pay for the repair if it was found to be due to negligence (like say, if a child had stuck a pencil in the track), and had no problems doing so as we do fully maintain our vehicle. Yes, our Calligraphy has some ambient lighting, but it is only located above the glove box on the passenger side. It's barely noticeable most of the time for us. Our suggestions for pricing and shopping used 4th Gen Santa Fe's is to do the research on the maintenance intervals and ensure it's been fully maintained per the correct schedule: severe driving conditions vs normal driving conditions. The vast majority of drivers should be following the severe driving schedule, and dealers are failing to advise them as such. Ask questions about the active TSB/Recall on the 8DCT to ensure that you will be covered should you encounter the dreaded P1C2D03 code. We hope this helps; take care and stay safe! Happy shopping!

Wish we could help but the smallest of differences completely throw off one mount from another as we learned with these and being a waste for us since they don't fit the Cleveland. Why are you using 5w-30 oil when the cap calls for 0w-20?

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Nikki, thanks for watching and asking! This generation of Forester actually had 2 different engines depending the which model year. The North American market earlier years, '09-10, had the EJ253 for the naturally aspirated trims, and the later years, '11-'13, had the FB25 engines in the naturally aspirated trims. The EJ engines call for 5w-30 while the new FB and FA engines call for 0w-20. Always follow the viscosity listed on your Subaru engine cap for optimal engine performance! Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!

    enjoyed your video. I don't even own a 2021-2023 Santa Fe...Lol But, my only suggestion, is don't skimp out at the end of the video. Didn't show the install of the panels or the first start after the oil change letting engine run for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Letting oil drain back into the pan after 10 minutes and then final check of oil. YOU spent so much time at the beginning of the video with a lot of detail, don't short the endings. Merci

Unfortunately this time it didn't help so we had to leverage our free tool loaner buddies at Autozone. To your point though, sometimes those tools aren't available but we love it when they are.

    Great video. I have 12,000 miles on my vehicle. HELP! However, my dealership checked my filter, and it was contaminated with debris on the top side of the filter. When they carefully removed the filter to inspect, they wiped the debris off the top side of the filter, and it fell into the squirrel cage of the blower below. It is impossible to do otherwise because of the size of the blower housing filter door. One. Going forward as a maintenance process. I need to be sure no leaves are outside on the windshield by the wiper arms collecting and waiting to be sucked onto the filter. That debris that fell onto the blower now creates an out of balance issue with the blower and a horrible vibration occurs on speeds of #4-#8 lower speeds of the blower is not an issue. I need a video on how to remove the blower since all video on this process are not applicable for a 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy FWD 2.5 Turbo. Dealership resolution is to take an air hose and compressor and blow the debris out of the squirrel cage. Did that and at first it did not help and then gave it another shot, and it worked. My concern is blowing that debris around and out of the squirrel cage will likely blow it further into the ducts, dampers, evaporator and heater core. All that does is kick the can down the alley so to speak. Really, I think should drop the blower and do it right.

    • @SpiritedWrenchers
      @SpiritedWrenchers 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Gordon, thank you for watching! My sincere apologies for the delay in response. This is a very common problem in the design of the 4th generation Santa Fe's. The Dealership response is the exact same that I was told when I heard a rattle in my blower (they also noted that me replacing the air filter myself voided the warranty on the blower, so I now always ask before I do any DIY). They suggest first to blow compressed air through the blower, then to drop the blower. My rattle resolved itself, perhaps a leaf that shredded and blew its way through the system.... I actually have a funky smell eeking out my vents and it's been suggested by my latest service advisor that I drop the blower to check it out, and also that it's also very simple to do. We do have a small backlog of projects to get done first, but will add the Hyundai blower to our list. My very limited understanding is that you just need to remove the glove box, and then it's a few screws holding it up. Again, sorry for the delay in response and I'll apologize in advance for any delay in video release on this project. You're doing everything correct and you have a right to be suspicious of just blowing air through the squirrel cage, lest you end up with a stink bug stinking in your vents! Take care and stay safe; we'll post up when we have the video!
