#bars, wish i knew this in College... But i will say, i went from being 3rd-5th fastest in my State to winning State after my coach told me i needed to get my knees higher and maintain my strength...
Very good video, I watched it from beginning to end taking notes, it was really good content with new things that I had never seen in other video dealing with the same subject, so thank you very much for this video, you really deserve more subscribers.
I'm a freshman starting track right now. I'm the slowest one on the team and I'm 6'1. I wanna how I can build my foundation to get to the speed mentioned in the video.
Just do everything your coach tells you to do. Don’t think you know more than your coach. That’s the best advice I can give you. I don’t want to tell you something and it’s different from what your coach is teaching. In the off season do my workout program. You can get it at www.EyeSportsGear.store.
Sprinting has a lot of factors to play into it. And you’re young so that also plays in your favor. Sprinting fast is is basically how much power you can put into the ground. One simple thing you can start doing is plyometrics. Start with simple plyometrics in the off season and simple weightlifting to get that base then trust your coach and learn things on your own as well. Speed can’t be rushed so just trust the process.
Do you think this is a valid training mmacrocyle? Start it off with acceleration + strength building(resistance sprints, timed 10-30m sprints, fundamental weight training, plyos, and form drills, all lasting 4-5 months) Then moves onto max velocity + power building(40yd, flying sprints, form work, & Olympic lifts, all lasting 3-4 months) Finally ending with top end speed development(60-80m, & speed endurance, lasting 3-4 months) Refining each of these speed components before moving on to the next one.
I don’t anything is wrong with that plan. Are you trying to peak at a specific time of year or something like that? I’m trying to understand the 3-5 months of focusing on one thing.
@@ChrisBookTV yeah I’m trying to prep so that I can run at UNF next track season; the time that I have to be at is 10.5, but I’m trying to hit the 10.4 range so that my spot is guaranteed. I gotta drop my time 2 seconds for that tho, but I’m not really stressing abt it.
Your video motivated me. I just feel like running even though my sleeping time is near😂 Would it be fine for an overweight(104kg) sprinter like me to use resistance for my sprints or should I stick to bodyweight training? BTW I can sprint the 100m around 14 seconds so far, I hope sprint under 13 seconds next year.
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I recommend resistance training to all athletes but if you can't do resistance training, bodyweight training is fine.
You might need an absolute strength lift to help your power clean (you+barbell is a lot of weight!). Most weightlifters train the front squat to hit the same muscles used in the power clean (a bit more quads used than a high bar or low-bar back squat). Otherwise, a solid plan!
Turnover improves with technique. If you are landing properly and using the right angles. Your legs will naturally move faster bc your muscles won’t have to work as hard to make up for bad running mechanics.
Yo bro I’m about 5’6 i can’t dunk but in my school I was the best at high jumps (meaning I could get my legs and body really high) and I’m insanely good at long jump what does that mean
@@sev9258 oh okay, you’re talking about the first seven steps. You have to figure it out bc everybody is slightly different. Just remember this. Step 1 should be at least 1 yard. Second step should land around 2 yards or more. 4 steps in 5 yards, 7 steps in 10 yards, 10 steps in 16 yards, 12 steps in 20 yards.
I think it's a little different because the 800m does not required you to put max force into the ground with each step like you have to with short sprints. 800 is about endurance and strength. I'm sure improving your 100m sprint could help improve your 800 though.

@ChrisBookTV do you have recommendations for technical improvements (like a video or book or any resource)?

You diden't say about how many seassoin in a week for max sprinting

Yeah. Just don’t over do it and focus on technique more than heavy lifting. Take it one day at a time.
Does interval training make 5k faster
I don’t know anything about the 5k
