Sales = think like a farmer, not like a hunter. Thank you, Joshua and Brian. Super inspiring!

Finally someone said what the truth is behind sales. It’s not about the 150 calls you made but what relationships did you make. Thank you for this.

Some good stuff. Not a fan of jumping to conclusions based on a LI pic, but overall pretty solid. And the reason sales is extremely hard… way too many garbage managers! Too many companies promoting good salespeople to management. It’s not a promo folks… it’s a completely different sport!

Here is a question though. What do you do with the problems that you can't solve? Serve as a connector to someone else that might help? Just listen? How can I provide value reliably in situations that my business cannot help with?

Great talk, great advice. I'm curious about persegenics. Josh mentioned the idea that everyone carries 4 major personality traits. So the idea here is when talking to a lead or client you want to know what personality type, or types you are working with in order to connect better. Josh states "You can set your mind in the right place to have a genuine conversation." My question is this, often when you have a concept in mind, it is difficult to have a genuine connection with someone because of the natural rigid nature of concepts. It seems to me that seeing someone through the lens of a personally trait may tempt the sales person to engage, on some level, with the concept rather than the person. So how do you resolve this? How do you use personality concepts to your benefit, towards genuine connection rather than falling into the trap of seeing someone as a concept (versus really seeing the person)?

Brian. You get it. You're a savvy sales pro. I always come away from one of your talks with some good sales insights. You're like sales mental vitamins.
Josh. Not sure I understand when you said, "Your goal should not be to close a deal or get a signature." In sales, your job is to get orders.

I think what he means is that if you are primarily focused on results, you're missing the big picture. It's more important how you work then the results you get because the job ought to be about helping your client achieve a higher level. It's also to empathise, understand the person who is in front of you and to make a real connection. And if you are results oriented you may not be able to achieve this. Like one sales person once said, leads will smell commission breath.

In the longterm it makes sense to have a great relationship with a partner then "just closing the deal." A great salesperson will eventually be a top seller because they value those things versus being overly focused on "getting the order."
