I’ve been shopping for a new boat . I was leaning toward the ghost. But I just watched a video about how the north function and constant function shuts off when you step on the peddle. I wouldn’t have thought that would be an issue. But he explained why he liked his ultrex to continue running if he made a steering adjustment. It made sense . So now I’m torn.
Good choice my man, I also have an ultrex that has had several problems including the exact same problem you have with yours now. I purchased a spare also,but I bought the fortrex,for temp use while the ultrex was in the shop.Same mount so I just screwed the fortrex down in the ultrex mount and off I went.It just does not have the spot lock which was a minor inconvience for the money I saved. Good luck and tight lines always !!

Good choice. Bugs are coming for the other 2. Just got spot lock minn! You just talked me into saving my older motor guide that’s was on my nitro. Was about to that old girl on Craigslist. Nothing wrong with it just a little noisy and stiff. Let’s get this JR. Just got me a few new things from the 6 and dropped your code!

Whole heartedly agree about the hum, never seems to be an issue with scaring fish. The new motors are about like trucks, I'm a Chevy guy, but they are all about the same. My Minn Kota spot lock is tough to beat though. Great video.
2yrs later, all my research and videos like this I'm about to do the same. I just need heading lock and spot lock!

In your situation i think you made the right decision, beings you have the other UT as a back up...easy to switch em out....but you cant beat the Ghost, love mine, thing is a beast!

My Force has been a PITA.
Good thing Garmin has the fantastic customer service. Foot pedal speed control failed. Garmin replaced foot pedal. Next up the Force moved backwards every time spot lock was engaged. Garmin just sent me a new sub assy. If this doesn’t fix the problem I will go back to a new Brushless Ultrex when its released.

Seems logical bro. You run hummingbird graphs, minn kota way to go. If you were running Lowrance, or Garmin, different story. Back on the water and fishing...that’s a win!

Running the birds I think you made the only choice that made sense. We got an ultera and it has been solid. Plus you got a spare now that you can just swap the head on in a few minutes without fooling with the mount so how could you go wrong.

@@JustinRoyal thank u Justin u helped me make a great choice ultrex is amazing can barely hear it when In spot lock people made it like it had horrible noise ya when u press on pedal u can hear it. But not as bad as people made it out to be

at least it was just the trolling motor, my yamaha blew. idk if i should repower or buy a whole new boat.
Bluetooth is a horrible way to connect any device that needs range more than a few feet. I'd rather have a 20 foot hardwired cable so I can move it around front or back of boat. Sometimes you just don't need to change something thats tried and true.

I heard minn kota ulterra is garbage....everyone that has it cries about the auto deploy breaking..
I don't know why this is a comparison you had your mind made up before the video. Hummingbird electronics, multiple boats one with the ultrex already on it , and lastly mounting was easy because you already had the holes and power set up for the ultrex plus the time crunch. you did not pick the best trolling motor you picked what was easiest for you.
