    I'm a fan of the shoulder mount you've done in the past. I feel it gives a different perspective that no one does. I like the changing camera angles and it helps you understand how you approach different cover on the bank. Keep it up my man

      I might switch back to that, you’re very right, it’s kind of unique and it’s more than just my hands and you get a decent view of what’s going on! Thanks Louis

    Can't wait to see the Ultrex in action under your awesomeness this season Ben. That launch at Secord is blah, great body of water, horrible public access for what it is. Friend just got a new skeeter with ultrex on it, we broke the big motor in yesterday at a small lake down here for a bit and played with the ultrex and calibrated it to the ipilot, pretty neat piece of equipment that I'm jealous I don't have that's for sure.
    Hope I get a chance to be up that way and run into you again this year, tight lines and be safe out there!

      Thanks James! Awesome to hear from you again man! Yeah, the launch is...ehhhh, but I love that place. The ultrex is seriously a game changer though! I’m so excited to putting it to the test this year

    I have power poles for keeping position in shallow water so the ultrex doesn't stir up the area. I use ultrex when fishing deep and want to hold position. There are uses for both. Great video and new sub here.

    I like the chest cam also. My dad has an Ultrex on our fishing boat because we fish for Muskie most of the time and power polls on a chrestliner fish hawk doesn’t look to good, but we use our spot lock almost the whole day besides running up along the shore.

    • @brnowak_fishing

    Ultrex for sure 🤗🎉. I have to vote both, power poles have their use also. It's really nice that you care about your viewers enough to let them give their opinion on camera angles. I like a 50/50 mix on angles and I have to say, I love the back passenger corner shot. You made me subscribe, keep up the great work!!! I'm looking forward to watching all your content 😊

    Everyone up here (MN) is upgrading to the Ultrex. I could see where the Talons would be useful when fishing in slop, pads or really shallow because they don't make noise. Unless you're a tourney fisherman, probably not enough utility there to justify the Talon price tag, however.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I hear that for sure. I loved my talons for shallow water fishing, but I just didn’t use them enough to justify it! It’s a limited benefit

  • @skwira000
    @skwira000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not just spot lock. There's also follow the contour. If you're on a wide open body of water where you don't have to stay tight to structure, then pure electric steer is no big deal. However, when you're on a lake like mine trying to stay tight to the weeds and then want to turn back around, the Terrova and Ulterra trolling motors can wrap around the shaft multiple times. But they won't wrap too many times on spot lock. So that's another reason to get the Ultrex is it physically cannot do that.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good good points. If you have Bird units, you can get the link to have it follow lines, etc

    Nice to see you out on the water Ben! I should be out in 3 weeks from now if all goes well...Some places I go still have ice so I don't wanna damage the boat with an iceberg...As for the angles, 1st side view is nice, used to see it for picture but not videos, it's a nice change of pace. 2nd one, still nice but a bit too back IMO. Front one, I've been using it for a good bunch and is nice for explaining things while still fishing and showing off fish but a console mount on a bassboat works better for that. Still, take care out there man and hope you can some nice spring biggins in the time to come. Bass is only opening in 63 days, june 15th for me so you'll be way ahead of me for that.

    I use a 10' power pole for my fishing in the shallow marsh of Louisiana, but I'm watching this video to decide if I want something with the anchor feature and which model I'm interested in.
    As far as the camera angle I don't care for the chest, but is is much better than the angle from the left rear of the boat.
    Thanks for the video.

    Excellent video! Have you had any issues with the noise the motor makes when it changes direction? I read a review where a guy said he felt it spooked fish when fishing shallow. I’m about 85% sure I’m getting one this coming winter.

  • @estott112288
    @estott112288 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    For my area (central Fl) the shallow water anchors work well. I will say there are times that spot lock would be nice.

  • @zachf4061
    @zachf4061 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the other angles. I think there is a time for each though. With the chest cam we have a chance to see what you see easier than with the other angles, so if you are seeing a lay down or schooling baitfish it’s easier for us to tell that’s where you are targeting. But I liked the view of the other angles as well. I think they are good for seeing how you are working the rod with different techniques, all of them work for me though

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel that for sure. I think I'm going to try and swap between the angles and use them as the situation warrants it. I think it's super interesting to be able to see more of what's going on on the water, but the chest angle shows certain specific things too!

    minn kota 2017 & up model spot lock its awesome.. got a terrova on 18ft v hull 20 - 35mph wind with 2-4ft swells held the boat better on a anchor

    A must have for ledge fishing.

  • @johng.9877
    @johng.9877 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Use all angles.. The chest angle is great for showing technique on say jigging or popping and allowing viewers to see the action of the rod/hands.. all the other angles, put into a video, just as you did in this one is great. Feed back on how you like the new Garmin units? I'm looking to upgrade my Hummingbird SI/DI to either Raymarine or Garmin.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm with you 100%. The multi-angles helps a ton.
      I LOVE my Garmin graphs - the biggest selling point for me is the Panoptix transducer because it changes the way I'm able to fish offshore structure, because I can actually look at it in front of the boat without having to guess where it's at. That alone, for me, is the biggest selling point!

  • @victorxavier9977
    @victorxavier9977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I prefer the first boat angle over the other two but I also like the chest cam because I can see how your working the bait. Btw about the red/pink line I read an article online that tested all the different colors and they stated the pink color is less visible in the water than other colors.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah! That’s the big theory behind Powerpro using the red color for the braid! I just love it because I can see it super easy above water :-)

  • @jakeboss6342
    @jakeboss6342 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol, if you had an Ulterra, you wouldn't need a dock. I absolutely love my Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor, Plus I had back injuries from work, and it helps a great deal, I can enjoy fishing 100% again because of it. My most favorite lake has such a crappy dock, its kinda lopsided and is doesn't seem very stable, maybe one of the posts for anchoring the dock might be cracked, but with my Ulterra I never need to touch the dock, it doesn't seem stable enough to tie my boat up to it to keep it there while parking the truck, i'm not sure what other people do, they definitely need to fix it, whoever is in charge of that. lol or maybe it's not much of a popular lake and no one goes to it enough to care, either way i can have the lake to myself and catch giant walleye, bass and crappie

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's so awesome! I've started playing with the Ultrex a bit, running it away from the dock and spot locking away from the dock, but I always get nervous it's going to float away or some one will get worried and think it floated off!

    • @jakeboss6342
      @jakeboss6342 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That has happened to me a few times, parking the truck, the boat is out there 10/15ft away people trying to my attention yelling your boats floating away, I yelled out, No its okay, I've got an Ulterra (Like they know what that means). it took me awhile to be comfortable using that feature, I practiced all the time getting to know the trolling motor so i could get comfortable using and steering it while i'm not even near my boat, and practiced so much it ran out of batteries using it the entire day, without even fishing, it's such an awesome motor, if people are nearby they stare at an empty boat controlling itself lol. I'm very surprised that I don't see more people using one

  • @matad311
    @matad311 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    For fishing angles, i still dig the chest cam to see how your working the baits and I do like the front of the bow side angle.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah - I'm thinking of running multi-angles and switching between them. The Chest Cam does a good job of showing certain things too

    I do a lot of sight fishing in the spring and a lot of offshore fishing in the summer and winter. For me about the only time I would use the talons or Power poles would be in the spring. Hey Benjamin, working on a Triton boat for a friend. Someone installed his Ultrex and I think they may have made the cable route a different way. If you could post some slower camera views at your install I would appreciate it. As far as the camera angles..I always like the transom views. Shows the way you cast and someone like me just might learn how to get under a dock without using a sling shot pole...

    • @Smalltechguy

      The big cable that goes to the pedal. I believe it’s was switched over. As your looking toward the bow from the deck this cable is off the boat instead of inside the boat. I don’t have a manual for it. My friend bought this motor used and no manual in site.

    I live in GA and my home lake is Lanier. I do a lot of off sure damage so the Ultrex is utilized quite a bit but.....if you are familiar with Lanier we have plenty of coves and shallow areas that are relatively shallow. Especially in the fall when forage is pushed up into these shallow areas, my PP are awesome to use. Of course I can use my Ultrex as well but why spend the juice if you dont have to. 8' or less, Im on the poles. Options are always good...always.

    Sweet! I cant wait to buy a a trolling motor this spring/summer! I haven't fished with one in 2 years now and it really sucks :( Here's a question what happened to your old one? Whiling to sell it? And yes im in Lower Michigan myself and I am trying to save for spot lock since I do head up north on bigger lakes with my lil boat that literally is blown everywhere lol

    In my opinion you cant compare talons.or power poles with spot lock. They are both good for different things. I rather pole down in shallow water. Spot locking in less than 6 feet of water is a major disturbance to the fish. Spot lock is awesome in so many ways. Basically all the areas to deep to pole down.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re exactly right, they both have a specific time and place - bed fishing last weekend sure would’ve been nice to have my talons back, but overall the Ultrex has been amazing for the way I fish!

  • @Pitchpullin5

    Question for ya, Do you think you will switch and get Humminbirds for your ultrex? Did you get the I-link? I have 1 Garmin Echomap plus on my boat and I am debating on getting a HB and the I-link just so I can follow routes and depth. Your opinion on this please. Thanks, I greatly appreciate your input, Ray

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ray - I love my Garmin units. For the way I fish, specific spots offshore or running down the bank, I don’t think I’d use the contour follow feature with HB units enough to justify it. I could see it being awesome if you know they’re along a certain break/depth or for trolling, but the way I fish, it doesn’t suit me enough. Good question though, because having that ability to link the graph to the TM is pretty sweet

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Ark rods are amazing. The new Honey Badger lineup that they released is one of their best rods in my opinion and it’s cheaper than the Invoker and Sniper (which are also sweet)

    • @lsfishing4388
      @lsfishing4388 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      like I said I would say I fished shallow and deep last year close to an even 50/50 split. a lot of people think that the ultrex is great off shore but I think its better shallow where you have to be sorta stealthy and act fast when you hook up. if I'm fishing docks or frogging a clump of grass where they are schooled up or any shallow cover and the wind is blowing me into it and I hook up ill immediately hit spot lock and it will keep me away from any sort of cover that I would otherwise blow out if my boat blew into it. anyway sorry for the rant and if you ever find yourself in Wisconsin let me know and we can get out!

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I kind of wondered too for a long time - I think the biggest thing was just the smaller bracket which didn't lend itself as well to shallow water fishing

    • @hondamx191
      @hondamx191 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a terrova on my bass boats for years. Guys would look at me funny. Most of my fishing is on the Great Lakes, so the terrova made sense.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand that for sure! That's a good point - the Terrova has been out forever, but a lot of bass guys weren't huge fans of the pedal and the mounting bracket. For spot lock capabilities, that was the way to go though!

Responsive foot pedal, good spot lock and relatively good on power/output. If you have the money though, the Force is a big upgrade from a power perspective. It is more quiet, better battery life and better power output
