I have a feeling someone will say how this ship "isnt large" and how "Ive built bigger ones", but to me this is a large ship, and also I appreciate how much time and detail is in it.
Just trying to power and build anything above 250 meters in length in survival mode is a feat of its own right. Let alone other than just being a glorified ore carrier, like a fully functioning battle cruiser is either a statement of power or how stupid you are on a server. And it's an absolutely beautiful sight to watch such a beauty prevail or become Clang material admist battle.
Someone else might but not me. I would never build a ship this large or so poorly thought out. It's the kind of thing you build and never take into combat. This is the spaceship form of the Maus/IS-7/T95. They're all impressive on paper, but not very useful in reality.
People in this game mistake gargantuan and colossal craft for the "standard big" while they would realistically be the exception, I myself usually build with realistic levels of size and imo it feels just better :)
Looks awesome, functionality and performance are well over the size the ship needs to be, and when it still has the firepower to back it up, you can just let the guns do the talking.
I'd say the overall feel of the ship gives it a light cruiser vibe due to it's lack of *BIG BONK BAZOONGA* at the front. While the other two forms you made look more like light carrier and destroyer/gunship. Next step: Heavy carrier! The mothership of the group, leading it's armada of drones to victory! Also the ship without the shell around it kind of looks like a skeleton that moves around XD
I am a fan of Outlands and had a minor heart attack when I saw the fuel & magazine set up. This ship is a few shots from an impressive explosion. It looks like that might just be the trade-off though, for fitting that many guns and an interior
its more about the first design. Sure with a few more hours he would maybe make it even usable for pvp and longer brawls. Also: it always depends on the tactical usage, if you got that many guns and sleak design, you might just use it as a breacher. Imo Outlands is cool, i follow Brocks channel for years now and i love what they do especially what they learn and show. BUT ... they always play classic naval battle. Fleet Red vs Fleet Blue, not tactical space battles. That surely is also given to the limitations of space engineers, speed and armor materials etc. are always the same. But they made rules for their ships and fleets like in a boardgame, thats absolutely cool gameplay and also a perfect testing environment for building fleets. On the other hand i hate it when people find some meta and rely on it. Ya never got rolled by a spaceball? :D By that Concept, an Orb with internal thrusters and outside as many guns as it can fit with spread out magazines for weapon sections and redundant supply from the center etc. is the most effective ship. Its confusing the enemy and easy to build. IF you get to much damage at one side, just present another one and repair the damaged.
@@PaintedBirds pre warfare 2. I know that they've re designed and evolved the design philosophy a fair bit. There were ships that were squishier than others. I did face an enemy fleet with a CL and few it until there was a single thruster left, well past what the ships designer thought it could handle. I hadn't the time to keep up, or make more than a few recordings so I had to duck out of the Riders.
Awesome battleship! When in command with a beauty like this, I would first expose her starboard artillery first then rotate to port site. No exactly 90 degrees to the enemy but sufficient to deliver most firepower possible to him/them. Then I would finish with a 30-45 deg inclination to the enemy ship to make her dorsal guns give a nice mercy strike on him/them. And as a tip, try to place the dorsal and ventral weapons on different levels like steps on a staircase to avoid one blocking each one field of view (as sea combat ships do). You'll notice the huge diference at the amount of shells/shots delivered per second just by charging into your enemies by doing so...
I see you really went for a broadside style combat ship with this. Also the inside layout is very easy to get around and no getting lost. Im a big fan of carriers myself, and with some Weaponcore mods now having drones it really fits more that im taking an old Nidhoggur(from Eve Online) blueprint and resizing it and bringing it up to date to use in combat in my current world.
Wow, this is great. This might not be the "largest" ship but the level of detail is insane. Anyone can make a large ship but you are one of the only people I've seen that has been able to bring an immense amount of detail in a ship of this size. Plenty of guns too! 👍👍 king of spengies 👑
I love your design language and color choices in all your ships. The raised armor panels look very excitingly chunky and contoured on yours and other ships -- I'll admit I'm a sucker for them. But they can be a liability in combat. I can see from your sample fight that a lot of the opening shots hit the same grid on the raised armor; in a survival game, wastes ammo and in any creative or survival fight reduces effective firing rate as the turrets have to wait more often for a shot to enter their limited firing arc. You would need to angle the nose of the ship obliquely, putting the enemy target several points off the bow in order to give the turrets the elevation they need to clear the gray armor or raised blue/white armor panels. Not taking anything away from what you made. Just making an observation on how to fight the ship as it is. This doesn't account for any revision ideas that would significantly change the design of the ship, such as horizontal or vertical superfiring turret layouts (with the ultimate logical extension being the death pyramids in the Starcore tournaments). There are creative aesthetic ships, functional meta ships, and crossover ships with a bit of both.
This is by far one of the most visually and aesthecially beautiful ships I've ever seen, the level of detail and the color palette really make this ship eye candy
Feels a little, like you half-apologize for every second dicision, you made...."whatever, I dunno..." you really don't need to do that. I started following you, because you create awesome stuff. Like your style and I keep coming back to your videos for inspiration. Keep it going! 👍
First Impressions: Very beautiful ship, really nice interior layout and so many external hard points for weapon customizability. I really like it. I would say, as others have said here, it is a light cruiser class. With the ability to enhance it with a weaponry refit to turn it into a heavy cruiser imo. It is definitely a broadside engagement style, not so good at frontal assault, a kind of ship of the line tactical approach to combat seems the best way. Fly right at your target, unload the rail gun array at them and quickly turn port or starboard to present your full broadside. The 100% dependance on hydrogen for thrust is a weakness though, this thing ever runs out fuel and it's just a drifting hulk. I always try to incorporate a few backup Ions to allow me to RTB on fuel loss. Even if they can only make you crawl back. I would also add a couple more cargo containers and in the hanger bay a connector to land on with some underfloor repair welders. I'd probably put in a small RC mining ship into this bay to mine ice with to refuel in deep space.
Look so good, I'm really impressed. Gives me so many good ideas, just starting a hover atmosphere craft and this video and ship gets the juices flowing!
This just popped up in my recommendations and I instantly recognized it from a friend using it on a server. I do like the design, it reminds me of the ACI-Ships a bit Small issue: At least on our version there were some non-airtight spots, especially around the rear
i love your shipbuilding style. Its very consistent and is one of the best looking that i have seen. I also love the scale of your ships, they arent monumental like some others but the big ones are big without losing the nice functional detail possible with smaller builds.
I'm really thankful for these videos since it somehow made building ships way easier and making them seem somewhat decent ever since I adopted your style although I don't really follow the filling everything part and then hollowing everything out again.
took me an moment to realise how big this ship actualy is. and that its quite an bit bigger then anything I have made, let alone look way better. I absolutely love this thing makes me jelous I cant make things this good myself XD I will def play with it on an world. explore all the nooks an cranies. test the dakka against other ships Looking forward to the build video :D
I love the design. You've probably already had someone say this, but I feel that the third dorsal turret from the front could be elevated a little bit like the ones behind it for a better field of fire.
I don't even play spacegineers so i dunno why is this in my recommended but damn that's a fine ass ship. I love the design of the blue part and the coloring or the different parts.
ngl i do kinda like the idea of designing ships with weakpoints with the idea hitting them makes the destruction really cool. you could even make a pvp ruleset around that where ships have to be designed around intentional weakpoints
For anyone saying this ain't large, this is pretty big for a ship that is as functional as this is. It's not the best for the size, but definitely one of the most useful- and beautiful ones out there to this date.
hello Jon. thank you for the klang drive tech: I am using it to build an even Bigger Capital ship. though you will always be the better builder, thank you for being a pioneer with tech i cannot begin to comprehend.
Id recommend making sure a majority of your turrets can fire at one target (preferably the one your engaging with), right now most of your turrets cant fire forward and im pretty sure autocannons also cant aim at 90 degrees angle vertical (i know artys cant), so this ship also likely cant broadside very well due to this limitation One thing you did well on the turrets however is making them at least somewhat armored, most ships i see have unarmored turrets (although when the autocannons tried firing forward one of the barrels was empty while the other wasn’t, so half of the rounds blew themselves up on your ship, also put a welder or two on each turret, it majorly increases longevity even without a projector) Id also recommend separating your hydro tanks, my old ships that dont have separated tanks are flying warheads waiting for a single railgun to destroy any of the tanks, blast doors are more than enough to stop the explosion in my experience
The armor panels are a really good idea as they add depth and detailing to the ship while being simple, they also offer spaced armor The only downside being, like you said, they are a pain to make

Loved the video @Major John! Can't wait for the next video man! I just thought I'd come by since I saw a video on @Stratus Gaming's TH-cam channel of his friend MC Arbiter's Northeast Heavy Industries Fleet. One of the Ships was Built for your Clang Cannon as well. Also, I have a Name Suggestion for this Ship.... How does the Brawler-class Light Cruiser (Insert Faction here) Brawler sound?
It looks good, but it also looks like the turrets have a problem with shooting the ship they're attached to instead of the ships they're targeting. I'd raise them with some sort of half block connector, if that's something that exists.
Currently I'm trying to build a smaller version of the SDS nemisis, a settlement defense front destroyer. My main issue is size comparison, and making the shape work.
@Major Jon The other 2 blue and grey ships in the video, the hammerhead variation and the one with the big front hanger, will you put them up on the workshop too?
This is a very good design I see, good for frontal attacks, it's very well armed and seems to be able to take any ship of similar size, but if you allow me, I will make some comments about your design and then proceed to propose new ideas It's a very good design as I stated before, being slim, perfect for frontal attacks, having the engines and other vital parts protected, but one thing that stick out to me and seems to be a recurrent error on many vessels is the exposed bridge, it's on top of the ship, easy to hit, far too exposed, this seems to have been inherited by spaceships from old surface-vessels of the navy, these had a reason to have an exposed bridge, and even then some had protected bridges such as some japanese carriers, that had a completely flat top with the bridge being found between the flight deck and the rest of the hull, protecting it is important because taking it out would essentialy wipr out the command chain of a ship or whole fleet, I propose your new designs leave this behind and you make new ships with hidden bridges, one thing you could do is to make a half-donut shapped ship with the bridge in the middle, protected on the sides and behind, but apart from this your ship is great, now let's move on to the concepts and ideas: - a ship with big guns capable of scoring hits at long distances, sacrificing armor to have powerful engines that allow it to run away when the enemy threatens to approach - a fast corvette that could score hits with strong weapons at extremely close range while at high speeds, making it hard for bigger ships to aim at it - a broadside battleship, meant to invest all armor and guns on the side, it would be more useful on long and medium range battles against other big ships
The variations look amazing! Are you using any visual mods? The testing world looks more animated and the walk through look more realistic or are you just running SE on higher graphics settings?. Might just be me.
reshade postprocessor. I use it for the grey background and slim black borders around the meshes, and then for depth of field and some more stuff in the walkthrough.

Something something can't fit a Kingsword :P This ship looks beautiful. Lots of dakka by vanilla standards. I might have a go at retrofitting it for my mods. God knows I could use something heavy to take care of Reavers. The only problem I can see is that there's basically no point defence.

god job, nice model? how much time in total did you spend on this model?
It looks good, but it also looks like the turrets have a problem with shooting the ship they're attached to instead of the ships they're targeting. I'd raise them with some sort of half block connector, if that's something that exists.

This is a very good design I see, good for frontal attacks, it's very well armed and seems to be able to take any ship of similar size, but if you allow me, I will make some comments about your design and then proceed to propose new ideas

- a ship with big guns capable of scoring hits at long distances, sacrificing armor to have powerful engines that allow it to run away when the enemy threatens to approach
- a fast corvette that could score hits with strong weapons at extremely close range while at high speeds, making it hard for bigger ships to aim at it
- a broadside battleship, meant to invest all armor and guns on the side, it would be more useful on long and medium range battles against other big ships
I LOVE the hardwood textures. Do you mind if I ask for the color codes for that color?
What building techniques are you talking about? is there a video on how it is done?
Looks cool
Good job!
Would love to get a carrier BP version of this ship
more like the most beautiful ship
Beautiful :)
Omg I love this ship if I could have one ship irl it would be this
so frigate destroyer, heavy cruiser... maybe? I do like the ability to be modular with armor packs and what not.
Damn dude, last biggest ship I built was half the size of this one.
Time to get back in game
Do you use reshade in your videos? Or how do you achieve the motion-blur?
Something something can't fit a Kingsword :P
This ship looks beautiful. Lots of dakka by vanilla standards. I might have a go at retrofitting it for my mods. God knows I could use something heavy to take care of Reavers.
The only problem I can see is that there's basically no point defence.
what skybox is that, and what mod do you use for cel shading or is that from nvidia camera mode
Cute little frigate lol
