  • After last weeks video, Remi was feeling most comfortable on the size medium, the same size that Jesse rides. Does this mean Jesse's bike is a little bit too big?

    I ran some shimano fishing line off my seat post and wrapped it down over the head tube to help me line up my works angle set. Honestly I'm not sure how much better it is than freehanding it, but it feels good and gave me a bit more confidence in the accuracy.

    So changing the ride 9 also changes progressivity of the shock. So if the measurements now feel money and the suspension feels off do you go back? What's more important? And was this all done before fox showed up for dialing? Really enjoyed the tinkerin!

    At 195cm tall I find that I seem to be looking for more stack and reach on an XL frame. Just went for 50mm Riser bars, and longer (70mm) stem with 8 degree rise to achieve more stack and a bit more reach. Time will tell if that works, but so far every change I made seems to make me more confident with the bike handling.

    If it makes you feel any better Jesse 1mm of stack height is a noticeable difference for me. I think small changes to getting bike fit just right could easily result in gains on race day, or maybe even just saving that one "almost" crash.

    • @JesseMelamedMTB
      @JesseMelamedMTB 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely! Changing 1mm of stack height is something we generally do when if a new racing venue feels a little off to us, I usually just go off what Remi does because he is super in tune with his stack height and when to change it.

    What's the difference between swaping the reach and getting a shorter stem ?

    • @rpiian
      @rpiian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think a shorter stem will change how the bike steers, it will be a quicker for the same input. Like for like, shortening the reach with the reach adjust headset would be the best way to evaluate/isolate a reach change by itself.

    • @JesseMelamedMTB
      @JesseMelamedMTB 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The reach adjust does allow to bring the whole bike shorter, the reach and the wheel. Which, like commented below, doesn't affect the steering feel. Changing the stem is a quicker, and simpler fix for a long bike, bit it will affect your cornering more.

    Sorry guys bcause this is off topic, I need your expertise with forks :) I bought a new 180mm fork and even in the parking lot, the moment I turn the handle bar a little bit to either direction it feels like the fork just wants to turn the handle bar all the way. it's as if I have to fight against the fork trying to turn the handlebar all the way, and make me go OTT. Have you experience that feeling with new forks? Thanks a lot, I know u have better things to do that answering questions from noobs

    • @scottspence847
      @scottspence847 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      is your new fork longer travel? Longer the travel = longer fork, which means your front axle is further away from your steering axis which is going to accentuate that feeling. It is related to your head angle.

    • @MGMAlternative
      @MGMAlternative  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As Scott mentioned below, what you're describing sounds like 'flop'. Which happens with a slacker bike, if your bike was made around a smaller fork then it's possible you are just noticing the slacker head angle caused by the longer fork.
