    My heat and ac was only working on high for a while. It finally decided to go right as I was pulling up to the hospital to pick up my new born son. Saw this video and was able to fix my heat quickly. Thank you for the video

    The 3rd speed of the blower switch on my '06 GMC K1500 has not worked for a couple of months and last week it completely quit. I'm so glad that I googled "blower switch" and came upon your video before I wasted my small pension on a dealer only blower control switch. I'll now order the resistor and save your video for my husband's benefit. I might even install it myself. Thank you so much and have a great week! Andrea

    I bought the part from 1AAuto , watched the youtube video, & 30 minutes later it was fixed. My fan had low air output on 1-4. And #5 blew ( or didn't blow) whenever it felt like. Now everything works great! Thanks!!!

    Replacement worked exactly as described. My '01 Silverado has only had fan speed "5" working for years. Had an auto electrics specialist tell me to "just get a new a/c control panel. About $100 for parts, plus labor." Your video has me up and running for under $25. If I wasn't hitting the hiway tomorrow, I would have bought my resistor from you. You've earned my respect, and I'll make sure I check you first next time I'm diagnosing a problem with my truck. Again, many thanks!!

    Used this video to work on a 2006 Chevy Tahoe Z71.
    only real difference was that 2 bolts removed the cover 90% and the resistor was right up front to the right. no other screws or bolts removed. Do be sure when you order your part, know what hole line up yours takes. i got mine for $25 but holes were a little off. For $55 i could get same part with correct holes. I secured it and it works just fine.
    Thanks for the great video!!!

    Thank you for the help, The 3 levels of speeds of the fan wasn't a concern of mine then #4 and #5 acted up and were not working all the time and thought this could be a costly repair to my truck. The truck has 241,000 miles on it and sometimes wonder if it's worth repairing. When I pulled up this video it showed me exactly what was happening to the truck and with a little help from this video I was able to repair this at a low cost!! The tutorial was very precise and helpful to make this a quick fix. Thanks again and I have used this site and will continue to use this for future repairs!!

    THANK YOU so much for posting step-by-step DIY repair videos for us novices. With winter about here, the heater fan in my 2005 Sierra 1500 (with 88k miles) quit altogether [after the 5th speed setting quit weeks ago] so, I have a feeling, it's the Fan Speed Control Blower Motor Resistor .
    In Oct. '11, when the Check Engine icon lit up on the dashboard, my Abeloff GMC Dealership charged me $88. to find out the EVAP is leaking and the heater blower speed 5 quit.

    Thanks. This helped me save $260. Part cost me $40. The dealer wanted $300. This took like 30 mins to install. The most difficult part was getting the cover back on.

    I have a 2001 yukon xl that was only working on stage 5. I ordered the part from 1aauto and followed this video and minus one difference in screws that held the decorative cover on, it was perfect. Thanks so much! BTW.. I found that a 9/32 would work in place of the 7mm socket as I didn't have one. I also found the deep socket to be of great help in the "hidden" bolt that in my case, was also behind the center console tape player and no fun to get at.

    Replace both; the resistor block and the connector coming into that block (5? or 7) wires. They both overheat and melt the plastic around the pins, causing them to loose contact.

    Thanks alot for the help! The resistor I took off was the 2 hole and it didn’t match to so the previous owner screwed the driver side screw in first and then used a 1.5” ish wood screw to hold the other side in. Oh well! Go with the flow! It works! Very good directions!

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Normally an issue like that would be the resistor but the best bet would be to check the resistor to see what sort of voltage is going to the unit at the different blower motor settings to check and make sure that is the issue.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You may want to check the transfer case shift motor, and also the switch to see if they're fuctioning properly.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @22matthewlewis That would either be a door actuator issue, or even a loose, disconnected or broke vacuum line. I would check all of the vacuum lines first to see if any have come disconnected.

  • @hedga001
    @hedga001 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Helped me a lot. Not to tell you what to do but it would also be a good idea to clean the duct and replace the cabin air filer too.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Nighthawke70 I would check with making sure the fuse is good, and that there's also power to the blower motor resistor and also the blower motor. If you noticed that the speeds began to not work on the AC control that's typically the sign of a resistor going bad. If it just stopped blowing air all together than the blower motor could be the culprit.

    Thanks for the video. I was able to change my resistor (2005 Yukon) in less than 1 hour. I didn't/couldn't have to take out the center screw on the outer casing. i have a 2004 silverado and had to change the resistor. got the new one at local parts store. what i have noticed with the comments on here is that no one is mentioning the plastic cover that is over the resistor. my new one was made different as far as the connector on the new resistor. the old one was at an angle and the new one was straight. the new one would not bolt back on with out the cover. so i had to cut away most of the cover to get it to slip over the new resistor.

    @1aauto Hi I have a 2003 Sierra and mine fan only really works on setting 5, it works on the other settings but when you change the speed setting there is no noticeable change in speed so would it be this or the blower motor resistor? And is there any way to test the resistor to see if it is the problem? Thank you for your service of putting up these videos. Also could you send me a link for the part from your website for which one I would need. Because I am having trouble finding one.

    Actually you turned the resistor 180 from how the original was installed--you can see with the 2 side by side that the cable is coming out the other side.

    Great video! I was able to do this job on my own fairly easily. However, I have noticed my speeds have started to go away, again. If I replaced the resistor, do I now need to replace the blower motor? And if that is the case, will I need to replace the resistor again?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically the blower motor resistor controls the speeds. You may want to check the plug end that connects to the blower motor resistor to see if it is damaged from being overheated. If it is, you should change the plug end. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

    This video was exactly what I was looking for! I will be ordering and replacing in my 04 Silverado. Also my setting dial doesn't work so it will only blow out of the defroster. Have you made any videos for that or any advice for me to fix it? Not a problem I've ever dealt with before. Thanks!

    You would need to cut the old end off and solder a new end on for the resistor if it has melted.

    If the blower is not blowing hard enough, either there is an issue with a blockage in the HVAC system or it could be an issue with the motor/resistor causing it to blow slow.

    @Nighthawke70 It could be a loose wire or ground somewhere if it's an intermittent issue.

    You may want to see if the thermostat's working correctly. You could also have an air pocket in the cooling system which may be getting trapped. If the heat isn't blowing from the blower motor, check the blower motor and the blower motor resistor to see if they have power going to them. We sell new blower motors and resistors on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 if you end up needing to replace one of them. Hope this helps you out.

    The actuator for the blend door could be bad, or if it happens when the AC is on you may need to re-charge the AC system. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

    I have a 04 sierra and some times I get a ticking noise that comes from under the glove box area. I guess its around the blower motor area to be more specific. It has done it when the air is on and off. Any advice?

    You may want to check the blower motor resistor to see if it's acting up.

    @faithchurch1 If all of that's fine it could be the (DRL) relay. Here's a link to them on our website. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com/1A/Electrical/GMC/Yukon/-/-/2001?page=3&&ATony

    Do I need to drop the cover and see how many flange holes mine has before ordering the part from you? Thanks

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are able to identify the number of holes first then that would help guarantee fit. +leighco9

    Hello
    I have a 07 Chevy Silverado 2500 (new body style) auto hvac control, is there much difference between the 5 speeds. Speeds 1/2/3 seem very weak speed 4+ 5 are very noticeably different. This seemed two occur after changing the 2 batteries. By chance does the control need a recalibrate or is it just the resistor pak.
    Thank You
