    This has GOT to be the only bus shop in the country....maybe in the world....where the buses have to thread their way to the garage through a forest and perform a hill climb. Very unique, and I love that. This is a really genius idea, Scott.

    I am loving this channel!!
    Im an old dude now, but grew up riding in these old buses. Learned to drive in a 4104, and had been everywhere by the time I was12. My dad drove for Greyhound and Trailways, and I still have his 2 million mile pin Greyhound gave him. In the 70's he started his own charter business, and man learned a lot about buses then. One of my biggest gripes was lugging......it was expensive to fix back then too, and a real pain when you just fixed that bus, and a driver would lug it over a grade and back.
    I just want to thank you for putting up these videos, as they bring back fond memories for me.....like riding 100's of miles sitting on a briefcase in the stair well of every bus, and many I havent seen yet on your channel.
    My all time favorites are the superscenics, and golden eagles.
    Keep bringing the videos! I love every one of them!!

    I worked 15 years for a Bluebird school bus dealership and toured the factory in Ft Valley. I got to see Wanderlodges being made before Volvo shut that down. They were all custom units. So no two are identical. They built one for a Saudi prince that was able to self contain for 7 days in the desert. The unit had marble though out a real water fountain and 24kt gold faucets. The company that insured the building of the Wanderlodge hired 24/7 security to guard the gold fixtures so that no one would steal them. These were made in their own workshop on the office side of Blue Bird Blvd. Opposite the school bus factory. These were all hand built starting with an AARE Chassis modified to suite.

    Did you convert those steer axle hubs from grease over to oil-fed? I started my career as a heavy-duty truck mechanic in the mid-seventies, and one of the first jobs I did after hiring in to a large midwestern company was to convert all the steers from grease-packed to oil. They were experiencing a lot of bearing failures at around 60,000-plus, and the oil conversions pretty-much took care of that. If I were that owner, I would have had you change 'em over!
    enjoy your videos!!!! 😊

    The “Tone” / reluctor wheel is part of wheel speed sensor that is used as part of anti-lock brake system and also can be used as part of speedometer. The most common ways for those wheels to be damaged outside of the hub being dropped or something coming loose inside the brake drum and hitting it is from a wheel stud being replaced. All that said unless the warning light on the dash has been disabled the ABS warning light should be illuminated on the dash indicating a system malfunction because of the damaged tone/reluctor wheel

    Considering how bad of shape that reluctor ring was in, with the speedo was still working, that ring was most likely for the ABS. Or possibly for another wheel speed dependent system like stability control. Although differential wheel speed dependent stability control seems like it would be a strange choice for a forty thousand pound coach
    ALSO: this is the most gorgeous 22 year old coach i have ever seen. Buses like this were a major motivation for me starting my business so that i can eventually afford opulent luxuries of this caliber

    • @FUCK_________googIe
      @FUCK_________googIe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BusGreaseMonkey very, very peculiar. I suppose if it wasn't throwing a system error light then the only thing it possibly could have been is speedo. But I just don't see how that ring could have possibly hung on to rotate at the same velocity as the hub, being snapped clean like that. Those things basically just jangle around once they're that loose. Hhmmph, I suppose stranger things have happened

    • @BusGreaseMonkey
      @BusGreaseMonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh it’s for abs once i took the other hub off that was obvious.

    • @FUCK_________googIe
      @FUCK_________googIe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BusGreaseMonkey oh so it is ABS, I thought that was the most likely case. I thought it looked like too many triggers for a speedo

    • @FUCK_________googIe
      @FUCK_________googIe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BusGreaseMonkey I would assume the speed sensor is in the transmission, that is the seemingly industry standard placement for that sensor, which I would assume since it is well shielded. If not there then on the driveshaft. The ABS sensors though, are required to be on the hub, since they have to monitor very specific wheel velocity in order to sense any minute differences of speed between the wheels
