When an umpire calls a wrong line call, you do not lose just 1 point, what you really lose is 2 points.
As in the case in the video, wrong call at 14-10. Score becomes 15-10 instead of 14-11.
15 minus 10 = 5 points (5 points behind your opponent)
14 minus 11 = 3 points (3 points behind your opponent)

That wasn't even a strong return from Goh and Bøje didn't even try to defend. Maybe that's the whispering was all about between the two Danish before the service. Don't take my word for it though I might be easily wrong lol.

It's insane how it's 2021 and there is still no method to correct the wrong line call. I think you should be able to use your 2 challenges on the umpire's decision too. So for example if umpire calls fault or something you think is wrong, you can challenge it and they will go back to the tape to make a decision.
Then athletes will have too many opportunities of taking a break, first the review and then the umpire review. Already they take many breaks by asking to change the shuttle of racket, or to add grip powder, mopping the floor. But the umpire should have a person to ask if everything is correct, like the game will be continued, but the particular point will be reviewed
actually they don't realize the shuttle was called out, because they saw the shuttle was clearly in that's y they didn't challenge
Tape (record) is invented more than 100 years. Why people don't allow players to use it DURING the race has always been very simple: to protect the umpire's athority, position, and life safety. You know that in foootball and maybe icehockey games the records are not shown to the audience as well. If you show the record, audience would kill umpire. In most kind of races, rules give the umpire the right to make mistakes, just because umpire are mean to serve the game, to make game happen, rather than control the game.

ur missing the point, the umpires are little gods on power trips. In tennis, players get away with madness, in badminton, the umpires push the players around and make farcical decisions on a whim. there should be some middle ground
Why has it not been a thing to install a camera at the very top of the court so we can watch replays to see if it's in/out?
They already have, using slow motion camera a player can appeal a challenge to the judge, though they only able to do it twice per match if both challenges are not successful

in this case, it wasn't a close call. ALSO, the line judge did make the right call, he called it IN but umpire didn't look at the line judge and then lied that the call is out. Pure incompetency
They had it installed now but not in the past, the umpire did not dare to admit his mistake and lied.

@@rihanoorprotik that doesnt matter. If the disputed point was changed, the score would have been 14-11, a 3 point difference. But then, it was 15-10. Supposedly they purposely missed the return, the score is 15-11, a 4 point difference instead of a correct 3 point difference
So I think it's safe to assume that umpire no longer has his job...

@@enderrking2239 Well yes, red shirts basically always win(probably 99%+ chance at least in badminton). It's all rigged. Watch hundreds of top matches and you will see it. Red is best, followed by white or yellow.

@@premrajkhare8207 Because he didn't know that his opponent fell down and was just sitting there. He assumed that the opponent would be in the middle of the court with his momentum going backwards (cause he's coming from front obv), so hitting it right back there would make it very difficult to be picked.

If you look closely the racquet was snapped at the cap part which is the part between the handle and the shaft… basically due to poor manufacturing
Poor manufacturing? These are basically pro players, my man, I don't think they're using poorly manufactured racquet. And, that's just about the only spot the racquet will snap because of tension and what-not.

Why would he get up? It is not his duty, the backline judge is only responsible for the back line. Umpire refers the decision to the sideline judge, look at his finger while having an argument.

There is a line judge behind the camera on the side of Malaysians who gave the out call.
The problem is that they are missing so many line judges on the danish side lol
actually being an umpire is not an easy task.. and he was not the main referee so he just can't do anything..
For graphite racket its almost impossible to break at top handle, i think it just the woods, because the connector between handle and graphite frame is the weakest component... But for setiawan case, its different 😬
