Epic Backshots with the bros. It's gonna be fun! I'm looking forward to seeing what the eventual massive expansion a year after the release looks like.

Well one thing they do take from Rise is the monster tracking. As revealed in an interview, you only track it until the monster is discovered for the first time, for most that'll be while playing the story. Afterwards you will always know when and where one or multiple of that monster species are on the map.
I never really played Monster Hunter's previous games, I started in Worlds/Iceborne when they put it on PC, and it was GREAT! There was something about the grind of monster hunting, gathering materials, crafting weapons, armors, potions and stuff to buff yourself or make hunts easier, it was AMAZING. Put about 400 hours into it (Haven't played it in 2 years) and it was a fun time, especially with friends. Showing off cool combos from weapons, dealing MASSIVE damage. I'd say the story is secondary, which you have to do in order to unlock the ability to hunt more monsters, but it was a fun journey. I'd recommend getting it on a sale (With Iceborne, the expansion) if you are considering picking up Monster Hunter Wilds, cause it seems like it'll play like Monster Hunter Worlds.

MonHun pretty much got rebooted and has its whole vibe changed if so, hopefully mods can bring a lot of that old MonHun charm back because I want my goofy fun stuff and cool badass stuff. I think Max is projecting and incorrect about the silly things being reduced or removed. I think he wants those things removed because he thinks it makes the games less serious. I can not for the life of me understand how "silliness" would impact sales in any possible way. The cute and silly things are a big part of Monster Hunter's identity. This isn't late 00's Capcom. They've figured this out. This is their biggest game and I believe they know what they're doing with it. So anyone worried about what Max said, don't.
Right here. I really hope they improve it. As someone who has mained hammer since Freedom Unite, Capcom has not taken the weapon in the right direction the last two games (the big bang in particular). Where your most damaging combo is just a repeated button tap with no charging or proper timing involved... it's lame.
@@gpcarnage4881 Yeah, as a lance main I feel you, I feel like our weapons are the one with the least amount of effort put into in the fifth generation. Don't get me wrong, I love playing lance in word and rise as much as I loved in previous generations but I feel like they could give us a lot more.

I'm so hyped for this game, but it does sadden me a little that the more charming goofy aspects of MH are slowly being removed, (from what we have seen so far) but if it becomes cooler it might be a better trade off. To me the charming silly things in Monster Hunter was a big part of the series identity. It makes me happy to see as a "veteran" Hunter to see the Greatsword busterblade become quicker and more versatile, but as a Insect Glaive main, its kind of disappointing at what they've shown, unless they make the Kinsect or the actual attacking with it quick and mobile as hell. Its really awesome to see Bowguns in MH finally shine more in Wilds, before they were always a supporter weapon, but now that's changed if they give you automatic as Wilds is the most recent in the series and big _MOTHALOAD_ fuckin' anchorshots. If they make HEAVY bowguns slow and automatic, they should make Light Bowguns capable of doing crazy sprint-fire and aerial maneuvers like in MH Generations I believe it was? I think they might bring those special attacks in MH Generations, but new and expanded upon in the focus mode.
It makes me laugh that people want a monster hunter world 2 when iceborne is monster world 2 if it were like that. But I guess the newcomers of world expects this is the monster hunter world 2 they were waiting for.
I wish I could find out if the developers or development of Dragon's Dogma 2 played any role in the development of this game. Because it feels like they share a lot of things in common, but I'm not sure.
As an IG main, that made me happy. When it shows the hunter collecting the insect essence, you can see a little indicator under the cross hair. It looks like the guessing game on where is what essence is over.
Monster Hunter removing the goofy stuff only generates negative hype. The goofy stuff is part of the core identity of MH and removing it would be like removing the cool stuff from Devil May Cry (DmC is a live example of that) I hope a lot of what Max is saying is either misinterpreted or part of an unfinished build.
my take is you make the combat, monster and movement animations as cool as possible but leave that goofy charm for things like cooking. best of both worlds.
I just hope all the weapons have some sauce. My biggest disappointment when World came out is that it went back to basics with all of it's weapons and there was no fun unique gimmicks to weapons.
in what way did the weapons not have unique gimmicks? are you talking about something like the styles from generations? because nobody liked those bro.
@@demiliomason1565No one liked styles from GU? That's a wild thing to say but maybe I never played with your friend group. I loved Hunter styles and everyone I know who have played liked them too. The only thing I really didn't like about world was the copy paste weapons and armor if they fixed that I'm fine with it.
nah bro, styles were extremely fun to play around with and still is, it's just that I don't agree with all MH games having customizable movesets World kept things simple and tried to expand on and reimagine base weapon movesets, and ultimately, I think that was a fine direction to take things *especially* since World basically acted as a series reboot.
@@micahfurlow2624 eh I think world was good but I definitely don't like some of the directions it took. I think it's fine for new folks to the franchise it wasn't really my cup of tea I play it every now and then but it isn't a mainstay for me. I think hunting styles were good but I think for me my biggest issue was for certain weapons they made them worse to play rather than better. I don't mind customizable movesets I think it's great for player expression. My problem was the execution in some places. World is fine but I'd be lying if I were to say it's the best direction for the series to go but we can agree to disagree there and happy hunting!
part of me will miss the "dog biker gang" of rise as a friend put it, but if gets more people into MH than it's all good. i'll probs give it a try regardless because my roommate is really into it
I hope I enjoy the kinsect glaive in this as much as I did in World. I actually liked needing to aim at the different parts of the monsters for the extracts, it feels much more gratifying once you get the hang of it in my opinion.
I just want 2 things: 1.) Elemmental damage to matter even on the bigger weapons. As a GS main, I want more than one weapon to use. 2.) Partbreaks to matter more than just 1 or 2 areas of the monster, if that.
I hope we just haven't seen much of the game's goofy side yet. It's part of what made the series so special to me. I'm still interested regardless, I just have to get used to the series evolving away from some of the aspects that I personally enjoyed.
I've been waiting for the goofy though... -_- If that's gone then the series is definitely going in a direction I'm not into. Already am not a fan of the currently revealed monsters (flying railgun and lickitung are *okay*) so if that's an indication of the rest of the roster's design philosophy I'm gonna be bummed. We really don't need to revisit the bland Keiji Inafune make-it-western era. Still holding out hope I guess. Early World trailers were kinda bland, but Coral Highlands kinda gave me relief. And Iceborne added all my faves into the game so I can see me completely changing my tone here.
Given that the "extra damage" section they show with the numbers is shown *before* the Focus Strike segment, it should actually be both: normal attacks on wounds and weakspots deal bonus damage, and Focus Strikes deal even more.
I think those mouth hits are quick time events, when you hit the right button at the right time, you might get a boosted damage and a chance to tople the monster. And i believe every weapon has their own animation, though with the bow gun, looked kinda weird how the monster was not able to swallow the gun half-way. Kinda has the same animation with the great sword blocking the mouth.
NGL I'm a little bit bummed about that the goofy shit is being reduced... But I'm still buying the game because I want to support the franchise. I do wish we get that shit back one day
The goofiness was definitely a big thing in older MH. Literally, up until world, you would stop in your tracks to drink a potion and then your character would flex pose. Honestly, it was beautiful!
insect Glaive looks awesome, we have a colored reticule now, the kinsekt atacks with us like an assist kinsect from rise but in a base kinsect, they apparently can get 2 buffs normally and we have special attacks that take extracts with it, on top of new multy hitting moves and more gameplay with the kinsect, we are eating good!!!!
Watching this I kinda came to a realization that I'm just happy so many players are now into Monster Hunter. As an old fart who started from the very first game, it's a welcoming thing.
If they take the “goofy shit” away from MH it’s no longer MH. Small stuff like the cooking music, or the silly running away animation before diving are core parts of the series’s identity, and IMO only help with the “cool” factor of the games, having your character be just a goofy human being just doing it’s job to help the people around them.
Exactly, genuinely hoping they just didn't show Max stuff, he somehow missed it or those parts are still in development, because the loss of that part of MonHun's identity feels less cool and more like they're removing Monster Hunter's identity
I just hope there's a mechanic that let you get up quickly after getting knocked down like in rise. I'll miss the wire bug air attacks but this still looks really fun.
I hope I can make my Seikret have different colored feathers, like red, or Yellow to make him look like a Chocobo! Maybe we can even get collab skins omg!!
The attention to detail in these games is absolutely mind-blowing. You can tell that this game was made by people who are not only passionate about what they do, but also respect and understand the source material and their audience. Thank god for devs who still care about making good games instead of using their product as virtue-signaling platforms.

If they make HEAVY bowguns slow and automatic, they should make Light Bowguns capable of doing crazy sprint-fire and aerial maneuvers like in MH Generations I believe it was? I think they might bring those special attacks in MH Generations, but new and expanded upon in the focus mode.
It's kinda funny that Max attributes back attacks to Souls when stealth back attacks have been a thing for decades in games at that point.
I refuse to buy this game is I’m not served food by a cat chef with the best cutscene known to mankind.
It makes me laugh that people want a monster hunter world 2 when iceborne is monster world 2 if it were like that.
But I guess the newcomers of world expects this is the monster hunter world 2 they were waiting for.
I sure hope the cooking music isn't gone, it was as good as the cooking animation.
Gunlance and the Light Bowgun FTW
I wish I could find out if the developers or development of Dragon's Dogma 2 played any role in the development of this game. Because it feels like they share a lot of things in common, but I'm not sure.
As an IG main, that made me happy. When it shows the hunter collecting the insect essence, you can see a little indicator under the cross hair. It looks like the guessing game on where is what essence is over.
He literally foreshadowed the next weapons but i am impressed what they did hunting horn. not sure how i feel about the echo area thing
Am i the only one who wishes they kept some stuff from rise? The wirebug shit was really cool to me
Rise seems to be keeping the more anime over exaggerated stuff, they're probably gonna separate the console game aesthetics and the portable ones
Monster Hunter removing the goofy stuff only generates negative hype.
The goofy stuff is part of the core identity of MH and removing it would be like removing the cool stuff from Devil May Cry (DmC is a live example of that)
I hope a lot of what Max is saying is either misinterpreted or part of an unfinished build.
Great sword- epic backshot
HBG- fill it's mouth
IG- drill into the monster
Is wilds a dating sim?
The sekret is an upgraded Palamute which itself is an upgrade to the Tailrider. Almost every function and animation is an upgrade polish of it.
my take is you make the combat, monster and movement animations as cool as possible but leave that goofy charm for things like cooking. best of both worlds.
Did you play world?
@@demiliomason1565No one liked styles from GU? That's a wild thing to say but maybe I never played with your friend group. I loved Hunter styles and everyone I know who have played liked them too. The only thing I really didn't like about world was the copy paste weapons and armor if they fixed that I'm fine with it.
nah bro, styles were extremely fun to play around with and still is, it's just that I don't agree with all MH games having customizable movesets
World kept things simple and tried to expand on and reimagine base weapon movesets, and ultimately, I think that was a fine direction to take things *especially* since World basically acted as a series reboot.
World is fine but I'd be lying if I were to say it's the best direction for the series to go but we can agree to disagree there and happy hunting!
part of me will miss the "dog biker gang" of rise as a friend put it, but if gets more people into MH than it's all good. i'll probs give it a try regardless because my roommate is really into it
Call Rathalos, Kardashalos! Because of all the back shots it will be getting!
I hope I enjoy the kinsect glaive in this as much as I did in World. I actually liked needing to aim at the different parts of the monsters for the extracts, it feels much more gratifying once you get the hang of it in my opinion.
I just want 2 things:
1.) Elemmental damage to matter even on the bigger weapons. As a GS main, I want more than one weapon to use.
2.) Partbreaks to matter more than just 1 or 2 areas of the monster, if that.
Well bcuz of the success of MHW MH wild become more detailed now for globl audience its become more mainstrem tittle
I hope we just haven't seen much of the game's goofy side yet. It's part of what made the series so special to me. I'm still interested regardless, I just have to get used to the series evolving away from some of the aspects that I personally enjoyed.
Monster Hunter wild is gonna be very wild when it releases.😺
11:38 that back shot tho
Given that the "extra damage" section they show with the numbers is shown *before* the Focus Strike segment, it should actually be both: normal attacks on wounds and weakspots deal bonus damage, and Focus Strikes deal even more.
I hope they finally add some kind of mage class.
If theres a place where goofyness shouldnt be removed, its the canteen!
tag team focus attack sounds cool as hell!
imagine hammer and lance doing a hammer and nail type attack
The goofy run is the "running away" animation, default runs are always there
Im surprised he didn't notice the kinsect attacking in sync with the melee combos
I hope glaive has wyvern dive, is was a game changer in Rise. Fun as hell to go guillotine mode after building up an air combo.
Wyvern Dive shows up in the last clip of IG. It has a bit of an angle it seems, and now we get a finisher follow-up looks like
@@ramontavaresdacruz2256 Oh hell yeah
This is going to be my forever game
I think those mouth hits are quick time events, when you hit the right button at the right time, you might get a boosted damage and a chance to tople the monster. And i believe every weapon has their own animation, though with the bow gun, looked kinda weird how the monster was not able to swallow the gun half-way. Kinda has the same animation with the great sword blocking the mouth.
NGL I'm a little bit bummed about that the goofy shit is being reduced... But I'm still buying the game because I want to support the franchise. I do wish we get that shit back one day
Wonder how much more anime the dual blades are gonna be this time XD
The goofiness was definitely a big thing in older MH. Literally, up until world, you would stop in your tracks to drink a potion and then your character would flex pose. Honestly, it was beautiful!
I think this is the only time ive been underwhelemed with an mh before release
insect Glaive looks awesome, we have a colored reticule now, the kinsekt atacks with us like an assist kinsect from rise but in a base kinsect, they apparently can get 2 buffs normally and we have special attacks that take extracts with it, on top of new multy hitting moves and more gameplay with the kinsect, we are eating good!!!!
Watching this I kinda came to a realization that I'm just happy so many players are now into Monster Hunter.
As an old fart who started from the very first game, it's a welcoming thing.
Surely you can use your slinger to grapple onto terrain, call your seikret mid air then land in it.
Monster Hunter Wilds, Khazan First Beserker and WuKong are the games I'm looking forward to the most!
I think that aside from bringing Prowler mode back, the 15th weapon should be a war whip or some kind of mega slinger.
Please watch Wukong's final announcement video.
I just hope there's a mechanic that let you get up quickly after getting knocked down like in rise. I'll miss the wire bug air attacks but this still looks really fun.
Miss the dogs already 😢😢😢😢 hope they have overlay skins
I would like a demo please.
I hope I can make my Seikret have different colored feathers, like red, or Yellow to make him look like a Chocobo! Maybe we can even get collab skins omg!!
From the way he talked about cooking it sounded like he confused camp and canteen cooking with the bbq spit. At least I hope that’s the case.
i did NOT just hear we lost the cooking music minigame
Now for the big brains at capcom to add dash canceling to the focus attacks to resurrect the FADC.
The attention to detail in these games is absolutely mind-blowing. You can tell that this game was made by people who are not only passionate about what they do, but also respect and understand the source material and their audience. Thank god for devs who still care about making good games instead of using their product as virtue-signaling platforms.
I find the hair physics of the female hunter truly amazing
I'm more hype than ever to play insect glaive again, I've been experimenting with other weapons in the meantime, but glaive just feels RIGHT
