20:57 The best part about that Shulk one is that it actually uses monado tech lmao. Something to do with cancelling the wheel as you die/by dying, allows you to use a move the instant you respawn instead of being forced to let the platform lower all the way. So he backslashed from the very top of the screen for maximum style.

@HazeEmry yes buster neuters your knockback and kill power, but racks up percentage. By going back to normal from dying (alongside the cancel) means the backslash was guaranteed to kill

They patched out Shulk being able to spawn at the top blast zone so the back slash jump scare isn't possible anymore :(

It has nothing to do with the hitbox dummy, 16 is fully invul so the level 1 passes through him and he gets grabbed on recovery.

@@YokaiStevewell actually, it's cause of how Hit's level 1's hitbox actually works. It travels in a straight line on the the ground, & because 16 actually _jumps_ during the animation, Hit doesn't collide with him so he actually passes under 16 in that singular moment.

And yeah, actually it fucking IS. I know cause I actually PLAY Hit & everytime he runs into someone's hurtbox during invuln frames, or if they block, Hit bounces off of them.
The only way Hit could possibly go IN FRONT of 16 is because hits actual character model disappears during that super & he passes under, because Hit will travel the full length of the hitbox when a character jumps over it. Since they were in the corner, Hit ends up stopped inside the corner, able to be grabbed by 16.
What's fucking pathetic is just boldly claiming to be right when you're wrong, & instead of providing any evidence, just saying "lol imagine joining a comment thread [a set amount of time] after it was first made."
Now this is something I wish Max would do as a Fighting game "influencer"
showcase the FGC in various ways, have him react to fgc vids, combos, funny moments, that sorta thing
he doesn't always have to but I'd love if he did it more often, cause seeing his genuine reaction to what other FGCs do is so much fun

What happened during the slomo Tekken clip was that both fighters, at the edge of death, went to strike each other. Time slows down for dramatic effect to see who hits to other person first, and the slow down lasts as long as both animations. Because the grenade throw animation was so long, the slow mo lasted forever, thus leading to the Casual Messatsu.

Not James Chen, Chris Hu. Chris is a legend in NYC FGC, as is his accent and English skills. But yeah, Chris does explain the glitch correctly. IIRC it was Aquasilk who crit failed his roll to translate Hu Speak.

For those that don't know, the way that Smash Ultimate Shulk clip works is that Shulk can store startup frames for moves with the Arts Pallet, allowing for Frame One moves. as Shulk fell, the player stored the Backslash startup so that they could Backslash the moment they respawned. And as the name suggests, Backslash deals 2x damage from behind, AND most of shulks mobes get more damage at the base of the Monado (the red part, not the Blue Beam)
And wasn’t that patched out at one point?

For a bit of context on the Kefla mirror clip, the two players are friends and labbed this exact starting sequence for a good hour before going on their match haha. This was an exhibition ahead of a major weekend so they wanted to bring the vibes... and they sure did!

No, it wasn't Bruno that did this one (but you can probably guess where the inspiration comes from)
So, a few fun tidbits that did and didn't make the video, as well as a mistake I want to clear up.
To start off, I was informed that the Pokchop clip was NOT from Summer Jam that week, but from the Cherry Blossom tourney in Georgia back in March this year. The tweet in the vid was deleted, so trying to find the source of it went cold and I had gone from another vid (which Pokchop retweeted from the thread), but from a different angle and went off of that. My sincerest apologies for the mistake there.
- 23 out of the 26 clips in this vid are all from their respective sources. The only salvaged one is the SF5 Ryu Mirror Dance. Even though the YT stream is no longer available, to my knowledge, only ONE OTHER SITE has the episode of the match.
- After the glass shattering in the GeoffTheHero part, there was going to be a few fake twitlongers and "You're going to Twitter" kinda stuff in the background. Of course, to me, that'd probably be a bit too much.
- There WAS another clip that unfortunately didn't make it, which was a Strive match with ChiliLion's Potemkin and the Art of Mashing.
- I've been seeing this a lot, but the sounds during the King grab chain and the Ping Crimson parts are the Jet Set Radio spray sounds.
- Yes, most of the background music is from Yakuza/Like a Dragon.

Look, Max's energy is as infectious as ever, and the clip selection is pure gold.
By I haven't got enough words to say how awesome the editor's job was here. I have no idea if it's Max himself or somebody else, but it was sublime. Each clip the exact right amount of edits, and the style varied accordingly.
I had already watched a great video about this thread and I had even seen it in loco. This was still an awesome video that made me enjoy stuff I had already seen. I can always count on Max making my day brighter.
