DAMAGING MY NEW CAR!? Mustang Dark Horse SCRATCH TEST

- Take a brand new car, and scratch it with a wire brush... good idea!? Straight after delivery of my brand new Ford Mustang Dark Horse, we've brought it to Ceramic Pro Chicago, an Elite Dealer, for installation of the Ultimate Armor Package - and a test as to how well this works!
Less than 24 hours after collecting my new 7th gen S650 Mustang at Pat Milliken Ford Detroit, we're now in Illinois, at Ceramic Pro Chicago to prepare it fully for life on the road, and the 5,000 miles ahead leading us to SEMA in Las Vegas at the end of this month. With the Dark Horse in Oxford White, we're going to make sure it looks the part with KAVACA paint protection film installed, and finished with Ceramic Pro ION coatings.
However, this is my opportunity to test and demonstrate how exactly PPF works, especially with the film's self healing properties. We're also joined by my friend Alex Penfold, who shipped his Porsche 918 Cayman GT4 over to the US and has now driven 97,500 miles with it in total - and a perfect demonstration of what happens if you don't have PPF installed! Fair play to him for living the dream with such an epic car, and in fact having that plus the Dark Horse together making quite the pairing; both manual and with naturally aspirated engines. After a preparation wash and an overview with Adam from @CeramicPROUSA, it's going to be time for the test... I'm grabbing a wire brush and scratching my own car on a section of paintwork protected with a KAVACA sample. There's no denying that it's a nerve wracking moment and goes against every instinct in the body, however, this is the beauty of Ceramic Pro's KAVACA PPF.

Fantastic product Tim and an amazing demonstration of the self-healing properties of that PPF! One SERIOUS question I hope you will answer. Is there ANY danger of peeling up and losing the original black vinyl stickers if you have to replace or refresh the PPF on the hood/bonnet? Another wonderful car for the collection! Enjoy!
They would lift with the PPF, so you are correct in wondering that.
I have personally lifted PPF off of factory vinyl many times successfully without removing the factory vinyl. However, I always tell the client that there is a possibility that it will lift the vinyl.
In most cases though the reason people choose to remove KAVACA PPF is because the panel it was applied to is damaged. In that case, repaint would be required and thus a new vinyl would be necessary.
I'm worried about the vinyl on the hood. The matte bits on there may look splotchy once the PPF is dried. Something that Ford has been doing the last couple of years. If they DO look splotchy, I'm curious to see what you do to fix it?

I'm loving this Darkhorse content! Ford is on top of every manufacturer in my opinion! From the Darkhorse S650, Ford GT, THE GTD, ST's , Raptor R's, new Broncos, and as always dominates the full-size trucks Industry both gas and diesel! That Oxford white is really starting to grow on me! Can't wait Darkhorse across America content! I've watched the GT500 across America content 3 or 4 times which is something I never do!

To each their own. I have found XPEL to be a film that can not only dry, but it is by far also the most visible film. Suntek or S-Tek is the way to go these days.

Since Ceramic Pro is in the UK now, is Topaz better or are your just really being loyal? (sorry to put you on the spot but my mind works this way...curious).
I've talked to Topaz in the past about different things. THye have some go-to products, but they are also willing to work with you. I chose to have a UK car wrapped in S-Tek despite that's not what they normally do. Will they install a ceramic coating of your choice? Not always as they are not lisenced to do so.

Not an issue. You can get new ones installed at your dealer. Those vinyl pieces are wear items.

Yes
1000% yes. The Ultimate Armor package protects against rock chips, staining, yellowing, and scratching and more.
There is nothing that replaces PPF. Some may try to sell the idea that some coatings can do that, but none can, not even close.
