As someone who has used minoxidil I'd highly recommend waiting. Far too often I see people on the Facebook page that are simply too young. I was guilty of this too, I tried minoxidil at 19. I'm now 24 and giving it another go. So far my success has been significant in comparison to my previous attempt. The reality is you still have to have the genetic potential. As in you must have hair follicles on your face. Some people have incredible success and tend to be more mild. That being said, it's a massive commitment. You're looking at a minimum of 1 year of applying it at least once a day but usually twice. Lotion and oils are going to be essential, I'd recommend the foam as it's less harsh on the skin. If you're going to use a derma roller go with a .5mm, 1-2 a week.
Interesting, never heard of this product, I’ll have a look. Its just patchy on the cheeks so will it help that? I will google and lol into it, but since you have experience, what exactly does it do?
@@Allegro_Giusto it helps activate the hair follicles on your face and encourage growth, hence the reason he/she said you still need to see if you as an individual has the potential to grow a beard, if you dont minox will not help. im 8 months in rn and ive seen results. i use a derma roller as well
I always believed I couldn’t grow a beard, but I never gave it long enough. I’d give it a week or two and give up but I have been going for just over a month and already it looks far beyond anything I thought I could grow. Excited to see what happens in 6 months.
Great advice. Especially for curly beards. Always got to 2 mths and cut my 'patchy Beard'. In month 3 now and it's filling in, cheeks slower than the rest, bit they're coming. I agree 6mths is a good goal to shoot for.
I have very hairy legs and a hairy chest so it never made sense to me that my beard is weak, but the general consensus just seems to be that I never let it grow for a long enough amount of time. I'd get frustrated after two weeks because the goatee would come in nice but it would be thin and sparse on my cheeks so I'd shave it thinking that's just how my beard looks. I've been letting it grow for nearly three weeks now and it's already looking decent although still thin on my cheeks. I'm gonna wait 3 months and see where I'm at.
@@Adam-lz7sr I did that once after not being satisfied with my full beard but lately I've been letting it grow and strangers have been complimenting me on my beard. I love having a beard and I'm glad I finally realized the secret to just letting it grow. It feels like I have two cocks. And what man wouldn't want to walk around all day with a cock on his face?
@@laythadrian5705 lmao two cocks. I love it! 🤣 In all seriousness, I wouldn't do the huge mustache thing. Just not a good look and definitely not something most women (and most men if you roll that way) find attractive. I'd stick to your guns and keep it going. My fiance has always had a very patchy beard but since using the oils, balms and rogain religiously, it's already starting to grow in a lot where he had absolutely nothing before and it's only been 3 weeks! But honestly, even if there was no change at all, I would choose the patchy beard over a Big Ole mustache any day! :) Good luck!
a lot of the time you can get away with letting the good parts grow over the patchy parts, i have one side next to my mouth that disconnects my cheek from my chin that i can style away when my beard is long enough
How's it going y'all? I'm also struggling with the beard as well so don't feel alone here! I definitely grow more now (I'm 24) than when I was in HS years ago. MY main problem is getting my beard side burns, my mustache and chin to all FULLY connect. I've been trying to grow it out again (I'm at the 3 month mark) but this time using a beard brush daily to shape it how I want it. I'm hopeful that as the hairs get longer, they take the shape I want them to. I also have more of a red/orange color beard for whatever reason but the hair on my cheeks is also a light color that blends in with my face. That plus hairs not growing/growing slow on my cheeks give it the disconnect look too. I don't know.😂🤷♂️ I'm gonna grow it out until the end of the year and see where I'm at! I wish all of y'all nothing but the best in this journey too!
That's my issue. I'm at week 4? and my goatee and neck is full well in. My big problem is the bare sideburns. I hate the goatee and that's all that's mostly coming in. I'm half tempted to shave it lmao.
@cory brearley Keep at it man! There are times when I get frustrated with it as well! I had to REALLY trim my facial hair off for a wedding I was a groomsman in, in early April, so I'm back to around a month of growth with no shaving! Supposedly, the 3-month mark is around the time you want to wait to see your growth potential for that time in your life. That's what I heard. I also use the "derma roller" now, as directed, more than ever, because facial hair's length is short! Maybe try that or shave it all off, as a clean slate, then try using the "derma roller" as directed of course, at that point? I hope this advice helps!!
I'm at 4 months and even if my goaty and mustache are well connected, my cheeks are still very sparse. Sadly for me, i don't think two more months will magically make new hair appear, they already seem to be there but just getting longer and it look quite stupid. I'm trying dermaroller, growth oil like rosemary and peppermint oil, exfoliation every 3-4 days. I drink plenty of water, i eat protein, i take vitamins and minerals. Still having very patchy cheeks. Nothing i do will make new follicule appear. Btw i just turned 33, so i think my beard may have reached most of its maturity. I always dreamed of a mountain man beard. 😢
For me the annoying thing is knowing that it’s still growing and patches are covering slowly. It’s looking like it’ll grow fully but I don’t like how slow it is.

2 weeks into growing a beard. I am pleased with the rate of growth, but concerned about a couple patches on my cheeks. Should I see my dogs vet to be tested for worms?
My cheek line is high right now. What I hate is the transparency around my chin line. My beard is pretty thick and dense. I’m thinking it’s my beard color. It’s strawberry blonde.
I'm sorry, Brothers of the Beard, but I can't last any longer! 3 weeks and I have the makings of a decent Van Dyke, but the sides! Man, all these stray hairs doing their own thing. I look a bit skanky, and being clean shaven was always my must do when going out. I've lost the faith! Go on without me, I'll just slow you down...
Yoa are correct beards take time to fill in. I would always keep a goatee because my sides were thin. Now as I turn 60, my sides have filled out and I have a full white beard. Time and genetics are the key factors!
@@beaglegod1 well when you are using it the new hairs come in phases (vellus, transitional, terminal) and when I stopped using it my face was absolutely covered but I didn’t realize the hairs higher on my cheek were vellus still. So when I stopped using it, those vellus hairs shed off.
