On one side of my face my beard grows in a completely different direction (to the side). For now (while it's short) it looks decent, but when it gets longer I would like it to all grow in a downwards direction. I will use some of the tips in this video. Cheers!

One thing you said that hit me like a brick. Using a blow dryer. I used to have long hair and to get up with bed head and expect it to look good with a comb would be stupid, yet this is what I am expecting of my beard. I'm a first time grower. I have been rocking the James Hetfield goat for 30 years. I'm looking for more of a Van Dyke style now, and I have been struggling.

The hair underneath my jaw really like to shrink up. I'm easily losing a good 1-2 inches of beard just because of that. What works for me is heat. I use a beard brush. I pull a strand of hair with my fingers, straighten it down, then pull another strand of hair, straighten and so on. I do it in layers, i.e., I start with the beard hair in the neck area, strand by strand, then straighten another "row" of hair, until I eventually reach my chin. It take a few minutes, but the result is worth it. Then I style the rest of my beard, on top of that jaw hair I straightened. I also use a pick comb to make it more even while it's still warm. Throughout the day, I will occasionally comb it back down with a pick comb, as my hair tend to shrink back up, especially when I move my head down (it squish the hair between my neck and jaw)

First that a great beard! Second what to you tell to your barber to keep the corners at the lenght of the beard while having short sideburns? I did let my beard go since July, my sideburns are more than 3 inches and they did grew in to my beard. This look is not the best and I'm scared of losing the corner of my beard when I fix the sideburns.

@@upjohnaghaji313 My mustache connects while my growth on the cheeks is not that high, I rather have a disconneced stace to rock the italian look. Every beard has flaws in the eyes of the beholder, some people with patchy beards want full beards while other people with full beard want to have less hair to be able to get that shorther look that looks more youthfull. Full coverage does not look that great 12 hours after shaving when hairs turn grey.

I find that wearing a mask causes me a lot of beard issues… it puts a crease below my chin right in the middle of my beard. Also I feel like my beard is soooo frizzy between combings… I use oil, heat, and even a great balm. I’m seriously thinking about going with a short beard again. Lol. Thanks for the video. Literally the only thing I haven’t considered is the chemical straightener

@@nated4949 if you can wear your own mask (a lot of jobs requires you to wear the blue surgical masks), there exists masks that are made longer and will just rest on top of your beard instead of putting pressure on the chin area. It really works, doesn't mess up the beard, or barely in the worst case.
