It's brilliant to see BVG videos again. 44teeth is good but I think plenty will agree with this statement.
You have personally a massive fan following, you can post utter crap and people will watch it for you as a person (you don't post utter crap btw) I really hope you focus more on your BVG channel and give us fans more BVG to watch 👌

Will be a blast chris and will inspire many more of us to follow in your footsteps. Two things are for sure; first this will be better than any therapy available on the NHS. Second, in many years time when your time is nearly up and you reflect on what was life all about, this trip, the things you see, the people you meet and the challenges you face will be right up there. So looking forward to the videos. I did uk to norway with a long time touring buddy who crashed a ZZR1400 into a car end of 2021. We had planned the trip before covid struck and postponed for three years. He smashed his body to pieces, should have died, and now cant use his left leg. NHS said he would spend rest of his life in a wheel chair. So after 6 weeks intensive private physio, learning to stand up again, we swapped big bikes for scooters. His maximum range before the trip was 80 miles with 3 stops due to pain. We didnt think we would make it to the uk ferry port. 2500 miles later and a lot of tears and laughs, his ‘everest’ was conquered and he now knows life can be good again (albeit a bit slower!!). Bikes can take lives but they can also save them. You are a top man.

    • @stevetaylor8698

I think we can all be thankful that the NHS does not waste its resources on this rather foul mouthed individual.

    • @mysterybiker1717
      @mysterybiker1717 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@stevetaylor8698 ill take a foul mouth any day if that individual is prepared to bare his inner most thoughts and issues on a public platform. Blokes are the worst at talking about mental health so to have someone sharing his thoughts in such an open and honest way is commendable and i can guarantee is helping others. I dont know the issues you have had in the past with Chris which have led to such a comment and i am not one to judge but i hope he has the mental strength to brush such comments aside and continue to share his journey. We need more like him.

Anxiety and depression even though is not a taboo subject, is still challenging for people who suffer to deal with and speak about it to others who just don't get it. I really click with the challenges you face and after a 6 year sabbatical, have stuck two fingers up and got back on a bike. Will love to watch your adventures and hope that I will get the courage to do something similar. Rob

Nice one Chris, have been following the adventure via Instagram. Friend and I went down through the South Island of NZ in February and I still smile to myself whenever I think about it, it was bloody awesome. Met so many friendly people, stunning scenery and excellent beer and man did we have some laughs. The funny thing was I didn't think I was in a funk until we actually set off, then I realised just how much I needed the adventure. Had been worrying about it not living up to expectation, what if we broke down, came off and all the usual negative shit on top of a very long lockdown (Auckland had a 4 month isolation and locked borders). It's an old and somewhat over used saying that motorcycling is freedom, a chance to turn off from your everyday concerns and worries. Now I understand.

Chris, I'm out right now on a solo run in the pacific northwest here in the US for 2 weeks. Definitely helps with the mental health issues. One thing that's really great about the moto camping thing is that you're either riding, sleeping, eating or doing chores. It really helps put things in focus for me. Exhausting and exhultent all the time. Just grinding miles. Every day is a victory. For anyone thinking about going for a longer ride, just go. Do what you can afford. Take a damn moped with some milk crates and some garbage bags. It's not the gear, it's the trip. And thanks Chris for all the great content!

Have fun! Don't forget to enjoy the moment and take mental pictures of everything beautiful you see out there. You'll cherish them later.

Well done BVG, I'm ordering my official and two for my Bee Em Double Vay. I used to work with young people affected by terminal disease and I learned way too late in life that mental health is vital for this modern time. I would do small day trips on my F850GSA listening to Neil Pearts writing post all of his loses and it would help clear my mind listening to others doing the same thing I was trying to do. Very excited to see how this goes, best of luck, you've got this.

Been there myself in terms of needing to get away before you explode. Like you said, being in the moment is the goal. No worrying about the future or regretting the past. Motorcycling thrusts you into the present moment and I think that is why it is so relaxing and refreshing. Maximizing my list of activities that thrust me into the present moment has done wonders for my mental health. Hope you have a great trip and keep up the great content! 👍👍

I did a euro trip with my old man. We had a regimented what roads to go on, where we are staying, which countries we'd be in on what day etc. The trip was France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and back home. A nasty storm cloud was chasing us and rained off the whole trip. One late night of drowning our sorrows, we came up with the idea "fuck it, let's go to Spain its warm and not raining there". Also went through Andorra. We're both the same and a bit autistic with change of plans. We were hesitant, but willing. We only planned the roads and decided if we want to stop, we stop and find accommodation. We didn't plan any hotels in, it was just so randomised and the amount of freedom we got from it was truly liberating.

Just a thought and a revelation...... you won't touch half the stuff your taking (I took less & still sent stuff home after about 4 days)

I'm in the middle of a 4,000 mile ride on an R1200RT I found to Aspen Colorado to see my niece.
As realtes to Torque, she diagnosed my PTSD before I got round to mentioning it, if I ever would have done. Which wouldn't have been likely. She's not a therapist, she a business manager for an opera house. 4 days into the visit and she's convinced me of two things: Seeking counseling and association because I really do need it , and she really does love me very much.
I'll be following your ride and joining in with others on Torque as a first step to digging myself out of this hole. We'll see what happens.

I have basically the twin to that bike. I replaced a non-BMW ADV on which I mounted a Garmin Zumo XT. It has seemingly a more modern UI than the Navigator VI. Having said that, I did spring for yet another Nav VI for the GSA and I have to say Garmin have updated it significantly since my last one. The traffic warning stuff is incredible (including pop-ups regarding accidents, objects in the roadway, and even a fire on one occasion), and it still seems worthwhile despite the steep initial cost. I would recommend you get two small tire inflators (a friend just had his and a buddy’s both fail in the Yukon Territories) as well as a quality jump starter. Even a new bike’s battery can fail, especially with the high load you will be running. Finally, the Kreiga Trail18 backpack has large and small dry bag compartments and a slim forget-it’s-on profile. Perfect for those small items you mentioned. Happy and safe travels!

Takes courage to head out on a trip like this especially if you haven’t done something like this in many years. One of my old college professors once told me that if you’re not sure what to do in life then travel for as long as you can, 1 day, week, month doesn’t matter. Getting out of the routine we all build for ourselves is extremely healthy. Hope you find some inspiration out there, but don’t force anything just enjoy the ride and I’d recommended dump the social media while on the trip.

Only mods I’d suggest in addition to what you have are Denali D4 amber lights for visibility and a Bremtuning Stage 2 kit which REALLY wakes up the bike and changes it from being a little slow to fast enough. Feels like a different bike. I coupled it with a Fuel Exhaust, and with the baffle out, it’s got a nice snap, crackle, and pop.

I’ve been watching your videos for a good while now. I’ve always wanted a motorbike but I’d keep coming up with excuses to not do my test. Now I’m booking my CBT and going to go travelling with my friend who just got his CBT. It’s time to start living. Hope you’re all doing well boys and girls

I loved all the light hearted stupidity of 44 thinking that was how and who you were...I happened upon this and made the connection that is BVG. As a chronic sufferer of PTSD from Gulf War 2 that went undiagnosed for 15 years until NHS Veterans Outreach got a grip of me, I'm enjoying and benefitting from your phylosiphy and outlook. Thank you!

Great video Chris, I need to do this myself as I seem to struggle in my own company. Cheers for the inspiration to share more about mental health too, it's needed. Looking forward to seeing your adventures. Hang out with your wang out, etc. Dan

Great video! I fully agree with everything you said. One thing to share from my side: I rode my r1250gs with same LR side bags with attached small bags at the back of each side bag (different production). On the right side exhaust melted down plastic closing mechanism of small bag. Maybe can help. From that moment onwards, I do not use small bag on the right sided LR side bag. Enjoy your trip...

OMG I cannot believe this video. Pretty much hoping for getting another GSA. Had one many years ago, and before that, the standard GS. But now wanting another GSA and the Lone Rider gear !!! But more importantly the mental reasons you mentioned. I just can't believe this. It's exactly what I want to do. I retired last June and I am desperate for some motorcycle adventures. I have far too much time on my hands. Something needs to change or I will go fucking crazy. Thanks so much for posting this. I will follow you on your journey. Best of luck buddy...

The camping equipment gives so much more flexibility!
Also camp sites are almost always in better locations than hotels !
I quite like mixing it up … expensive hotels with good restaurants and then beautiful camp grounds

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. Great to see you're getting out there, it will be a great adventure. On your backpack musings, you'll need something really slim or you'll straggle with the seat bag. Enjoy

Lean forward, and don't let anything stop you from reaching your target!
Congrats on the new bike, good luck on the epic adventure, and take care of yourself brother!

I fell into the procrastination trap as well for a good 6 years until one day I spontaneously booked the channel tunnel and pressured myself into going with a deadline. Was absolutely amazing, just do it!

Spot on about pushing things off that you want to do and instead just making the leap and pursuing them. I've been talking about taking a moto trip around the US for years, and I always find the excuse that shit comes up and I end up not doing it. Perhaps this video has inspired me a bit. Safe travels BVG, I look forward to following along!

Hey Chris, you are partly responsible for my taking a European trip next year (I'm in Canada). Wanted to do it for decades, literally, and now I'm actually planning it. Thanks.
