    Another vlog in a timely manner? Who even am I? 🤣
    When work get a seat Height reduced AKA factory lowered GSA on the demo fleet, I was NOT missing the opportunity to ride it and see if it was manageable!
    If you were on the fence about an R1250GSA and if the height is suitable to you... hopefully it shows that anything is possible 💪
    Thanks for watching!

    Love my '21 factory lowered GSA. I'm 6'3" so didn't need a lowered bike but that's all they sell here in Japan.

    All the best to Mike for his recovery and I hope he isn't in too much pain. It's a great bike. I took a demo out on the lowered adventure and could get my feet down no problem. I'm 5'10" with only a 27" inside leg so I struggle with many regular newer bikes these days.

    You are right Kate, small riders should not be intimidated by the gs/a. At 5ˋ7, i ordered a lowered model, set suspension to minimal, lowered seat ( here too you can get the seat even lower by putting in smaller sprockets (Wünderlich) under the seat replacing the originals. I just love this bike, even after dropping it my first day out (crashbars absolutely necessary!). After this initial humiliation, i did enduro training (highly recommended)
    and did fall again in deep sand!, but the instructor said 90% of us would fall on that day, he lied , 100% 😅did. Nonetheless, this is my best bike ever and handles better than most smaller bikes that I had. And soo comfortable, i can sit on this thing all day long. If your short and contemplating about getting this bike , try it , you will not regret it! Ride safe mates!

    My husband has a 2019 GSA.
    I'm 5'2 (1,58m).
    Even with a seat hight of 800mm, I really don't think I would handle that bike 😉
    I know some very small women do. I have the utmost respect for Jocelin snow 👍.
    However, it becomes very technical and tiring to handle such a bike at all times when you are really small.
    And there's not only the hight... The handlebar is also made for tall people. The whole ergonomics of the bike are made for tall people. 😉
    Well, maybe I'm just too lazy 😂😂

    I have a 2015 GSA and it’s brilliant ( I’m 5’7 ) , whilst it’s a heavy bike, you really don’t notice it all that much. This is the one I may get next the 1250 is like butter . Great content as usual.

    Great ! You, young lady are beyond different and unique….why?……. Because not only do you come up with subjects that hardly anyone else posts …..But you also delve into it from a person who’s doing a “Firstie” ride experience as if you’re not familiar with the subject yourself….now that is exactly why you magnetize and attract so many of us and it’s an asset and talent you have !!! Thankyou Kate, most people say how tall they are but you actually told us your inside leg, which is the same as me 29" and I'm 5.8. I test rode a GSA which was just put on low suspension standard seat and I managed very well. I was so surprised how the damn thing handled like on rails around corners. I went fron Falmouth Motorrad to the Lizard point in Cornwall and back, sat and had a pasty and can of coke admiring the bike. I'll get one but have to wait as in the past year and half I've spent out on a new Versys 1000se gt, top heavy as anything and in March got a new Ninja 1000sx which I've had to ditch my topbox as this is the only bike that has every had suspension issues with a topbox. So roll on when I've saved enough to trade again. Lookong at next march. Question is do I go for the GSA or GS. Love your vids love you:-)

    I've owned and ridden a chassis lowered gs1200 adventure for the past 4 years. I'm six foot nine tall and there was zero discomfort. Taller riders needn't shy away from them just because they're lowered. Traded up to a 1250 gsa te today in ice grey this morning not chassis lowered but that aspect of should I get lowered or standard wasn't even an issue. Pick it up in a couple of days ..woop new bike city 🤩

      How close are you to flat-footing both feet?

  • @PetrolJunkie
    @PetrolJunkie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    If a guy with a 28 inch leg can ride a GSA at full height then it’s doable for taller people. I do it daily. The keys to success is to get very good at your low speed maneuvers including the no foot down stops. Learn your techniques for one foot down stops, get comfortable with sliding your rear to one side when you put a foot down.
    Whether you can ride a bike or not is all about two things, comfort and confidence. Mastering skills breed confidence like bunny rabbits.

    • @michaelmclarney1994
      @michaelmclarney1994 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My biggest problem is getting on as the arthritis is making my knee, hip and back stiff. If I can cover the brake and get the left foot flat I'm happy, otherwise it only takes a bit of a camber to make things tricky.

    • @hurt1704
      @hurt1704 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you ride it off road? If you have to put your feet down on uneven surfaces, you’re probably going down. Why be uncomfortable if you don’t have to be?

    • @PetrolJunkie
      @PetrolJunkie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hurt1704 I'm perfectly comfortable with riding the bike. I don't have the mindset that I have to be able to get a foot flat on the ground to feel safe, let alone both of them. The need to flat foot a motorcycle is pure insecurity and a lack of confidence in your skills. Practice, and get the skills down to muscle memory.
      Little kids use the one foot down method, an adult can do it.
      There are literally a hundred different ways to solve that problem from dismounting to leaning the ned of your grip against a tree. Most important is learning to slide your rear end over a second or two before you stop to get a leg down, and not putting your foot down on the low side. I can comfortably stop with one leg hooked over the seat at the knee and still take off, but that's usually when I'll just dismount and hop back on when I want to take off.
      "Comfort" is subjective. Just because YOU aren't comfortable doesn't mean everyone else is uncomfortable as well.
      Always work on your skills. There isn't anything you can't ride if you have skills.

    • @hurt1704
      @hurt1704 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PetrolJunkie I have been riding my whole life dirt bikes and motorcycles and packing. A passenger, luggage, and tippy toeing on off-road terrain isn’t ideal on any stretch. Can you do it? Sure, but it’s not ideal.

    • @PetrolJunkie
      @PetrolJunkie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@hurt1704 Ideal is subjective. While you worry about getting your foot down I'm going to go have fun bashing my motorcycle on some trails. I'm not worried about it at all. It doesn't matter what off-road motorcycle I ride it's always going to be one foot down for me. No point in complaining, no point in letting unreasonable fear create insecurity and damage my confidence.
      Just get on and ride. Do what needs to be done to make it happen. Polish skills, not excuses.

    To ride easy this GSA being a tall person may help to step down with the bike off. If it’s on, it matters less. What we have to manage well is throttle versus clutch and friction zone. This bike is so well made and designed that she will cooperate with you from the get go. When on irregular terrains since the weight is there, it’s important to have the bike balanced at all times. After the first days of living with one, confidence will build very fast due to the nobility of geometry and whole conception of the bike. It only feels heavy with the engine off. On the move is a lovely strong and easy coping machine.

  • @lkastaas
    @lkastaas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The GSA is for me a huge bike compared to my GS from the looks of it... but then I felt the GS was big when i got it first. Now i feel it is manageable and quite easier to ride - and I'm sure it will feel even more easy to ride as i learn more about riding it - no I don't feel like I have learned it all from this season. And I'm so happy i decided to buy that GS and have been riding it pretty much every day as long as there is no ice on the road. I don't feel like riding when there is ice/snow on the road - at least not yet.
    What would I like to see Kate do on a bike? Well you said the GS/GSA is a very stable bike to ride - why not show that to us and maybe compare that to a 310GS or something totally different. Get one of your friends to ride and swop with them so we can see the difference.
    BTW: Blocked road should not be much of a problem for a GSA...you just got to ride thru or ride some more 🤣😘

    The biggest improvement from the 1200 to the 1250 in my opinion is the smoother gear change, the 1200 is a tad more agricultural. I did also fit risers that also throw the bars back about 20 degrees which saves stretching for them. Different bike now.

    Nice videos. I have a '22 GS. What brand wind deflectors are those on the sides? I'm getting blasted by the wind on my sides and under arms. I have a Puig windscreen that is ok.

    Great bike I had exact same one so easy to ride your grandparents could ride them the bike will do everything well .for touring this is the best I've had most .but for a weekend blast or late evening the 1290r ktm adventure is number one with its aggressive ride keeping up with alot of road bikes bmw is better quality but 4500 new more .I'd never thought I'd say this but the gs 1250 is a cracking bike but if your looking for fast fun it's far away from the ktm .well done you ride it like a boss

    I have the 850GS sport bought new from your place, it has everything on it but now I regret getting most of them. I’m not a fan of keyless ignition, the quickshifter is clunky and it’s not hardship using the clutch, the tft screen is nice but again I’m thinking I prefer the old analogue type. The heated grips give poor heat even at stage 3 and nowhere near as good as my old Oxford grips, this could be an 850 issue. Just my opinion.

    You seem to have no problem throwing the GSA ...you look comfortable.

    Kate, good to see you on this. I’m thinking of trading up from my f850gsa to the r1250gsa. Do you think I could use this as a daily ride? Stay safe!

    • @UsernameKate
      @UsernameKate  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think a GS over a GSA would be better as a daily ride :) and it'll feel miles lighter than your 850GSA due to the where you feel the engine weight :)

    so stats first, I'm 5,7 , (5,8 if I look up :) ) with a 30/31 IL. I have a 2018 GSA Rallye Low Chassis. Which I runin standard or max suspension height with the seat in standard height setting. I wanted a GSA not because of the range but because the extra width offers better weather protection and I am rain magnet (honestly its incredible). Because I went to the Adventure over the GS I went to the Low chassis and found it the best all round bike I've ever had. I use it for UK / Euopean touring and prefer this GSA to the K1600 GTSE and the R1200 RT I had before it.

    helpful video,.. but may i suggest opting for a wider angle camera perspective? The constant moving of your head is a little dizzying and using a wider angle would minimize. Cheers

    Thanks Kate! I’m torn between GS1250 and Africa Twin. Do you think it is easier to lift the GS as opposed to AT which I believed has higher center of gravity?

    • @UsernameKate
      @UsernameKate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm not sure because I've never sat on an Africa Twin. Your logic is there but I don't have the experience of both bikes to guide you. Sorry motoyak!

    • @motoyak2901
      @motoyak2901 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UsernameKate Noted. The GS seems to have wide sitting angle pivoted by the Boxer engine crash guard. I’m guessing lifting F800 is more difficult than 1250.
