- After a drive from the east side of Vancouver Island to the west side in the van I arrived at Pachena Beach Campground for a great camp right on the beach . Listening the ocean waves roll in, walking the sands and taking in the beauty I topped off the day with a steak cooked over a beach fire- It doesn't get much better than this. #pachenabeachcampground #vancomping #solocamping
You're a women after my own heart...such a beautiful life you lead. Simplicity to me is the best way to live....
You have a beautiful soul. Thank you for sharing., Always. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
I SOOOO AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh...the sound of those waves transfers through! Thanks, Wendy!👍😎🇨🇦🌊✨️
so many folks love the sounds. thanks Marian
Sounds of home, though it's quite further north. I miss it.
I treasure the Pacific North West, …..everything about it. Especially a Campfire!
Oh I bet Milo would love it too 🐾
Absolutely lovely,
Thank you Wendy!
thank you for your comments . Milo will hopefully get a chance before too long.
Bliss. Pure bliss. Love the cookie sheet wind screen!
works well. thanks for watching
Beautiful scene with the sound of the waves and the crackling fire. Very pleasant. You are lucky to have so may pretty places to go from where you live. Thank you.
I am for sure- thank you
Used to live on the west coast of Scotland and I miss the sounds of the tides. Campfire on the beach - nothing better! Your channel is exploding! So happy more folks are discovering you and your adventures.
thank you Ellen- I imagine the coasts of Scotland are equally as lovely-
I love the fantastic photos the peaceful campsite. I love this kind of weather for camping thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for allowing us to travel along with you. Beautiful photography. Keep up the amazing work!! You’re a blessing to us all!!
I'm glad the rain started falling towards the end of your stay and not earlier! Thanks for sharing such a comforting video. I loved it.
So nice. When my parents were alive they lived PNW and we often went to beaches like that. The sound is wonderful
Yes it is - thanks Kathy
What a beautiful place to camp - thanks so much for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed it. thank you
Thank you M'lady, for sharing your travels, and joys with us. Stay well & safe. Cheers❤
Thank you! You too!
Wendy : I love your travels. The beach with this trip is fabulous. You are blessed & so am I to watch you ! Congrats on your new dog.
thank you very much- I am very fortunate for sure-
Good to see you 'adventuring' again Wendy, and a bit more comfortably for this trip. lol I love the sound of the surf and the rattling of the pebbles or the 'shissing' ( a word?) of the sand as it returns with back wash of waves. A beautiful area for sure, so YES, let's go back again. 🙂👌
great- I will look forward to taking you!
I noticed the beautiful sounds most of all on this video. Thanks for bringing us to wild places. I always enjoy your videos, and the chance to learn something new.
Thank you very much!
Wendy, that was such a beautiful place. Thank you for taking us along. I always find your videos so peaceful and relaxing. Thanks for sharing
thank you for watching Julie
Great trip. It's beautiful out there. Thanks for sharing your trip. Your dinner looked excellent; simple high end beach cooking.
thanks Glenn- simple but yummy
Thanks for showing us how beautiful it is there!
My pleasure 😊
Thank you for bringing us along on your little adventures.
you are most welcome Mary
Thanks for sharing the close ups of flora and fauna. The sea urchins were cool. I can see why you enjoy the west coast so much. This is the perfect time to go camping.
Many thanks! Lots of beauty there for sure.
I use the same Trangia kit. I love it!😊 What I like the most is the silence of cooking with alcohol. I go in the forest for peace not to listen to a jet.🇨🇦
you are right about that-
That was nice... Thankyou for showing your journey
My pleasure 😊
We used to go to tofino many times a year, off season mostly. Can’t stand the crowds. Off season gives you magical warm sunny days and wild storms. Really miss it. Thank you for sharing your joy ❤️
Thank you Wendy, for doing these videos 🙏💖🥰 You bring me so much enjoyment living vicariously through you. I moved from the California mountains to Oklahoma, and these woods lack the pine tree 🌲 smell I miss so much. There’s a beautiful state park in North east Oklahoma, Natural Falls State Park. The natural springs pour continuously out of the ground, in a constant waterfall. The woods out here do have lots more ticks than in California, (I tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, and the meat allergy that stays with you for life), so USE THE DEET 🙏🥰 Thank you again for all you do. Someday I will get strong again and go camping 🏕 once more, for now, I am just happy to have found you 🙏💖🥰
Serenity!!! I so enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing! Look forward to seeing Milo out camping with you in the future
I was just on Vancouver Island a couple of weeks ago. You could spend a lifetime exploring it! Lovely, lovely place, which you show quite well in all your videos. Walk in peace and keep the videos coming!!
What a delightful campsite on the west coast of Vancouver Island! I miss the sounds of the ocean's surf roaring as it ebbs and flows. Cooking dinner over an open fire with misty trees and seascape completes the Pacific NW experience. Beautiful images of the sunset with the people gathered along the shore. Thanks for sharing! Jenny
thank you Jenny- Pretty classic west coast experience for sure. loved the fire!
@@wendyoutdoors2230 I could almost smell the the woodsmoke mixed with the salty air and surrounding fir trees.
What a beautiful serene camping spot, Wendy! I always look up the places you go to and hope one day to be able to visit and enjoy the beauty of the nature in your neck of the woods. Love this one! 😊❤
I hope you can make it there Cathy- If camping- book early- they are lots of visitors now, especially as the road is improved.
@@wendyoutdoors2230 I can imagine easy access to that beautiful spot makes it quite popular! Thank you for the tip! ❤️
Nothing tastes better than food cooked over a camp fire. What a beautiful location. Loved the video look forward to the next one.
thank you and thanks a lot for coming along
Great video as always. I love how you capture nature. Beautiful!
❤😊 Beautiful video!! Enjoyed this trip thoroughly, thanks again!!😅
you are very welcome.
Thanks for a very satisfying video. I always wanted to get out to the west coast of the island, but haven't got there yet. Beautiful sights and sounds. Like you can hear the planet breathing. Thanks for sharing.
that is a lovely way to describe the feeling- hearing the planet breathing. Perfect
Thank you! I appreciate your inspiration. Encourages me to just go do it!
You can do it! good for you Nancy-
Beautifully filmed, Wendy! I've been wanting to drive in to Bamfield but the road always deterred me. Thanks for the heads up about how it has improved...I'll be visiting for sure. Many thanks for the sharing.
Thank you for sharing your sweet sweet adventures! I always enjoy watching your videos so much.
I send you love from Estonia, Europe! ❤
welcome form Estonia- I think you are the first- Wonderful to have you along.
Beautiful beach camp Wendy, it reminds me of an Island in my local area where we have camped many times before .And this camping video inspires me to make reservations there ahead of time for next season, since the season is over the end of August. The only way to get out there is by boat and there are no stores and no electricity at the tent sites (only if you are lucky to secure a yurt which only a few are available). So its primitive but a really nice experience and i love the sound of the waves at night very relaxing to go to sleep to. I love the scenery in your video what a gorgeous area and must have been amazing the wildlife you saw..And doesnt food taste awesome cooked outdoors. Thank you for sharing
i love your videos so much you’re such an inspiration for me
Wow, thank you very much
Beautiful sights and sounds. Thanks, Wendy.
thank you Jackie-
Another beautiful place. Thank you for sharing with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Another lovely spot, Wendy! I love where you live, but I am so glad many of our campgrounds here in NC remain open year-round. After the heat of summer, I am ready for the 9 months of camping before the heat returns. Thank you for another relaxing camping trip.❤
Sounds great! I will be searching for winter camp spots. enjoy it when you do get out there.
Beautiful first campsite location! Thank you for sharing your trip.💐
my pleasure
What a wonderful adventure! Thanks for taking us along ❣️
thank you Lynne.
Hi Wendy I love your life and what you do, where you go, You take us to such lovely camping adventures always something interesting to see . I can't blame you for wanting to sit at the beach take in the views and listen to the sounds of the waves .( I enjoy that myself.). I look forward to you coming back here to this place . Thanks so much for sharing the ocean is beautiful, A bit different from the great lakes that surround me .
Hello Sue- lovely to hear from you. So happy you could come along.
What a wonderful trip Wendy. Thank you for the walk on the beach it was so welcome as we are in triple digits here in Okla. The sound of the beach was a joy. How's Milo? I hope it's working for you guys, he is a lucky dog 🐕 ❤️ think I'll watch this again😊
thank you Mary- Milo is really coming along. getting lots of kisses now!
You deserve easier travels. Happy Trails
Never been to Bamfield. Thanks so much for sharing :)
Such beautiful light and mists just before the Autumn Equinox! I can see why you love that coast so much.
... Well, you've started something! I am the proud new owner of a tarp and I'm learning knots.
And I won't be skimping on my frypan size!
wonderful Paula- - I love tarps. You can teach us about knots- I could do with some help! You go girl with the frying pan!!
Another beautiful trip! We just returned from the north shore of Lake Superior in MN and spent as much time as we could on the shore. The waves are just mesmerizing. I could sit there for hours.
that is a huge ocean like lake- same sound! wonderful
You look like you had a wonderful time Wendy and a beautiful spot and with good food😊
Yes Wendy, I did- a perfect overnight for me.
Thank you for another wonderful video ❤
my pleasure for sure Janey
Love this! I’d like to see the inside of your van!
The sea sounds are delightful
totally!
Good advice, thank you.
thank you
Your videos always bring back such happy memories! I remember camping at Pachena Bay when you could set up your tent on the beach. One memorable trip we ran on the wet sandy beach at night while the phosphorescence sparkled beneath our feet! We had some great hikes to Keeha Bay. Such a special place, thanks for sharing!
sounds heavenly- I too have camped there for free back in the day" Love Keeha Bay- it is my favourite beach ever- I did a video about my visit there last year "Hiking To My Special Place"
@@wendyoutdoors2230 I think your Keeha hike was the first video of yours I watched! :)
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you too
You did such a good job taking the video.. it's a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing!
thank you Christine-
Loving your videos Wendy and I am interested that you go on short overnight trips. It's given me food for thought as I always (until now) thought my trips needed to be a week or more. Of course, you have such lovely locations on your doorstep. Many thanks from Oz.
I enjoy the short trips. I do the longer ones with Bob in our van- both are good.
That sure looked like a great adventure. I would be a happy clam if my dog and I were to spend a few days just sitting on that beach
Next time! - Maybe Milo will join me🤞
My 1st trip to Bamfield was from Seattle, in my truck with my 18’ clipper canoe on top, maybe 17 years ago. Port Alberni to Bamfield was the most frightful road I’ve ever driven, and I’m used to mountain forest service roads. Twisty terrible gravel road, single lane bridges, and huge logging trucks going 60mph consuming 2/3rds of the road and filling up the whole bridge. My next 4 trips, I chose to paddle down from PA, camping a night or two along the Alberni inlet to Bamfield, then camped on Diana island, and took the M/V Lady Rose back to PA. They hoisted my canoe and gear up onto the deck. It was fabulous! I don’t know if you can do any of that anymore. Lots of bears, especially so in the old native village sites.
Did my heart good to see you out there. And knowing the road is improved, I might spend this winter planning a trip back there!
Yes, the road is so much better. I have travelled that road countless times over the last 40 years and now- a huge pleasure. I know what you mean about the trucks too- massive. Didn't see any that day. The boat going is now called the Frances Barkley and it does take freight. hope you can come again.
@@wendyoutdoors2230 LOL - you’re lucky to be alive having travelled that road so many times!Again, I’m so happy you posted this video. I’ll likely be plowing snow in 4-6 weeks as long winter lumbers in. Nothing dispels the darkness like making summer plans!!
This is wonderful !
wonderful place !
I’ve been using a Trangia since the 80s. So simple and easy to use.
I agree-
Really love all of your videos. I find it so inspiring to see a way of extending my old Vancouver Island and Rockies exploring habits. Darn cancer in the meanwhile has cramped my style and energy a lot! 🤞🤞I can manage some version!
Hello Lynn- that darn cancer is indeed a tough one. I hope you can find your way through this. It takes a lot of energy for sure. I wish you health!
Gorgeous.
absolutely!
Trying to visit the Eastern Sierras this Fall…in a condo. 😊. Still adventurous for me. 🤗
I so enjoy your adventures! Thank you for sharing!
wonderful Charlene- what ever works- a condo is great!
Thank you so much for your wonderful video. You have such beautiful scenery unlike here in Texas
I am very fortunate Melissa. thank you
Thanks for the video Wendy! You are always doing something different and it’s so much fun to see what your up to. You are so brave to be out there alone when a bear was there when you arrived. I have reserved 2 more nights where we camped by the river last month, but it will be the end of October so hoping it won’t be too cold! I’ll let you know how it goes! Great to see you!
thanks Heidi. Hope you have a great time. I just came back from a mountain hike- frost in the am. very cold to me!
Beautiful
Thank you
Hi …thank you for Video … great … happy I found you!
thank you for watching - happy you enjoyed it.
Looks Lovely!!
it was for sure!
❤❤❤❤❤
What a lovely video. So calm and relaxing. Thank for taking me along. It was so beautiful. How’s your new pup doing? Take care
All good . He is really settling in-thanks you
I love your videos 🎉🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️
Glad you like them!- thanks for watching
Wendy your dinner looks better than mine. I’m on a diet!😫
Great video.
Thank you 😋
Really enjoyed your beach trip!
thanks Mary
Thank you.
You're welcome!
looks like a real nice place , i enjoy the cooler weather but not so much the rain
comes together around here. Most of us have rain gear out of necessity-
Beautiful view. No way could I get out of that chair though!
It is very low for sure- I have developed a bit of a technique. Helps being short too!
I half expected you to pull your canoe out of the van :) Hope your puppy is adjusting well take care
wish I could- a bit on the bulky side ! Milo is great.
I'm new to your channel, thanks for sharing
Long to see your newest video to come out. Love your adventurous spirit. I would have been afraid to cook food with the smells attracting a bear or cougar to you relaxing there.
Not too likely- lots of other people in the area.
Won’t the cooking outside attract the bears? Beautiful scenery
nice trip
thanks Phyllis
What a lovely site. I was taken aback when I saw people in the background.
What travel van are you using Wendy?
Hi Wendy! What a beautiful campsite and the beach area is huge. The site next to you had a hammock - so that would be how close the next campsite is to yours? Did the Park put in all of those vertical pilings down the beach (similar to pilings hammock was attached to)? I imagine that during the Summer that campground would be quite busy because it's certainly a beautiful spot. Hope you're doing well and thanks for sharing.
I am doing just fine thank you. I think the campers put them up- often for playing volleyball or building forts for fun or holding up tarps- Folks really love building things I think. Yes. hammock belonged to the next campers, a quiet family having fun.
hi Wendy, give Milo a cuddle for me!
absolutely!
I've heard that bears get into cars (rip off doors etc). Do you leave your food in the van with yourself? Are you worried about that? I wouldn't think so but I haven't camped in such secluded places that you have shared with us. Thanks again for another calming video :)
Hi Marilyn- Yes the food is in the van. It would be extremely rare for a bear to rip into a vehicle. I have never heard of that happening anywhere near me so I don't worry about that.
🍁 🌊 🍂
thanks Brandi
A poor life this is if full of care, we have no time to stop and stare. ( With apologies to Whitman)
There is so much great camping throughout the Pacific Northwest. Do you prefer the Trangia stove to the canister fuel stove? I'm tempted to try it.
I use them both, The canister stove is fast and immediate but noisy- the alcohol stove is slower and quiet- both have pros and cons-
You Ma'am, are my heroine.
thank you- you are very kind.
Use bear kegs!
Marine layer
I've been traveling for work a few times and find I get really lonely and homesick...how do you get past that
I enjoy my solitude and I am only gone about 24-48 hours normally. I am also going to places I love and keep myself busy doing videos etc plus usually have a good book.
How do you protect yourself when you travel alone? That’s a big concern for me to attempt this.
I did a video addressing managing fears. you might check it out- "Top 3 Camping Fears and how I manage them. " Several people have found it of some help-
🩵🩵🩵
Thanks again for such enjoyable videos. Can't wait for the next one!
thank you
Another great video thanks for bringing us.👏🏻🏕️
you are most welcome
Ohhhhh! I was supposed to camp there last summer but I got turned around on detours because they were working on the road and ended up in Lake Cowichan, which was still a stunning ride! Made my way to Port Renfrew then all the way to Victoria looking for a place to stay on an August Saturday. Ended up sleeping rough at the ferry terminal after riding for 14 hours! Still one of the best times in my memory but I'll have to actually get there next time 😂❤️🏍️🏕️
omg- what a day you had. That road to lake Cowichan used to be terrible- I have been to Pt Renfrew many times. another great area. I hope you do return-
