It's absolutely stunning. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful trip with us . The forest is so beautiful. So peaceful. ❤❤ .Stay safe and blessed.
I'm glad you decided to visit this place that I'll never be able to see and experience and taking us along. You seem to be branching out and adding new things to your videos. I had to chuckle when i saw Bob try to comb his hair in one shot. He should have seen me on my last 11 day rustic trip. It wasn't pretty in the least!
This is a really great video. I enjoyed your explanation about the trees. It is good that we recognized to preserve these kinds of places, but so sad to think about how destructive we can be. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Cheers!
Welcome home Wendy & Bob! What an amazing adventure. Thank you so much for sharing your time with us. When seeing such old growth forests and ancient communities like you visited, one wishes the trees could share the stories they saw. It is wonderful the Haida Gwaii is doing all they can to preserve it. My ancestor's on my mothers side were First Nations - from the Tla'amin Band near Powel River and the Homolco Band from Church House. (Your Bob does not look very comfortable being on camera - I can relate.) Looking forward to where you will take us next!
Your videos are so enjoyable Wendy!! Thank you so much for making them. We live in Florida and it is so nice to explore other parts of this great land, and your explanations and narrations are so good, and heartfelt!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!
Well, I feel very privileged and humbled to see this special part of the world Wendy thanks to you. I am in awe of the similarities between all First Nations people and the respect they had for the environment. I’m in Australia and it is a very similar story. The New Zealand Māori and Polynesian peoples have very similar carved story trees and poles so I’m guessing there’s a connection way back. Deep dive research with a cup of coffee about to take place!! Thanks again! Cheers ☕️ 😘
Now I want to visit your beautiful country again! I've been there nearly fifteen years ago (I'm from germany). Its so different to our country cause you have so much more space and a real wilderness over there. I hope you will have many more adventures to share ❤
How interesting, Wendy, and yes, the world that these trees and memorials have witnessed. I had a strangely similar experience last week in inland Australia, only it was on the fringe of the desert where two mighty rivers meet. There was a canoe tree like the ones you showed, where a piece of bark was removed by local indigenous people to make a canoe, leaving a scar but allowing the tree to grow undisturbed. I wish I could share a picture.
Wow!! So cool! Your youthful curiosity, appreciation and enthusiasm for the great outdoors is inspiring and contagious! My wife and I love traveling and exploring too. This video has us eagerly anticipating our next (rapidly approaching) excellent adventure; a 7-state, 24-day western USA camping/hiking extravaganza. Can’t wait! Thanks for taking us along:)
Thank you so much for sharing your holiday with us. The west coast is so incredibly wild and beautiful! And those fallen totems .. if they could talk and tell us their story, but there they are are, fading back into eternity ...
thank you Brenda- yes, the Haida believe in letting nature absorb back what she gave so the circle continues. Happy you enjoyed it, it was a terrific adventure
Thank you. I visited Haida Gwaii in 2007. Your video brings back many memories. The sound of the waves on the rocks at North Beach is like no other. I could listen to that for hours. Thanks for sharing your experiences and stories.
Lush, green and mystical are the words that come to mind after watching your video about Haida Gwaii, Wendy. Many years ago my Father showed me a huge tree in virgin forest on Drummond Island, MI. He told me, "Never forget that this tree is alive. It gives us life. Without it, we wouldn't be here." Haida Gwaii is filled with that same awe and respect for a tree's life. Thank you for sharing your amazing journey with all of us. My wish list of places I long to see first-hand has grown by one. Stay well. P.S. It was nice to see Bob's smile peeking thru his camera shyness.
Such a beautiful place to visit. I would throughly enjoy talking with all those big cedar trees. They are almost like silent sentinels. Thanks for taking me along
That's awesome that you're living life fully, with lots of amazing adventures and sharing it with the world 💚I hope you have some kind of protection against dangerous animals in your stunning hikes.
thanks Mary, I do carry bear spray and a bear banger plus a very loud whistle plus I am very cautious . Happy you are enjoying these little adventures of mine
What a fantastic trip. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, Wendy. I'm starting to understand why Haida Gwaii is the only part of BC with no campfire restrictions, lol! You didn't seem to be bothered by bugs, either. Bonus!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The beauty of the environment is spectacular. W.O.W. Your camera shots and angles of the views you shared were great! The history and culture of the Haida people is amazing and rich. I love seeing how their culture blends with and utilized their environment. I’m hopeful that such things are preserved for future generations. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank You for sharing this beautiful video of you and your husbands trip. I really enjoyed the stunning views of the different areas you both went to. Loved the history as well as the eagles.
Wow Wendy! This is truly a magnificent magical place! I can’t wait to begin my bucket list adventures with my hubby! This is a definite must see. ❤❤❤ I hope you and Bob enjoyed every minute. 😊
Wendy, I loved this video! Seeing those trees!! Incredible! Seeing all the history. It was beautiful. I could just smell the cedar! Thank you so much for sharing this trip with us! If I ever get the chance I will definitely go there! Spectacular! ❤️
I've only come to learn of Haida Gwaii through favorite TH-cam creators. So glad to add a little more knowledge of this magical place by watching your vid. Thanks!
Thank you Wendy and Bob for sharing that amazing trip to Haida Gwaii! I am so grateful to have been able to share your adventure in that beautiful country and learn about the First Nation of Haida Gwaii. Living in Europe I shall never see those places in person , I am too old ! So thank you , and hope to share your next adventure.
Hey Wendy good to see you out exploring with Hubby and very true you really have so many interesting area's in B.C. To discovery and enjoy. This being another WOW. Gorgeous . I find it very sad and disturbing when logging companies take these old Majestic trees down, we need them they are natures purifiers of the air we all breath. breathtaking video thanks so much for taking us .
so happy to have you come a long Sue.If more people could experience the wonder of it I think there may be more respect for nature's wonder. I hope to make a tiny contribution to awareness. thanks sue
What a beautiful and spiritual destination. I am always impressed that Canada honors their First Nation tribes. USA needs to take a lesson from Canada. Thank you for sharing your trip
It was a wonderful place. We do have a history of not always doing that but thankfully times are changing . Much damage was done in the past. It will take generations to repair
Wow! That was amazing. Thank you so much for taking us along on an adventure to a place that I had no knowledge of and now I’d love to go to. A great video. Again, Thank you. ✌️🙂💚
Awesome! Looks like my kind of vacation! You are heavily influencing the choice of our future vacation destinations. LOL! In October we're heading to Courtenay/Comox for a week and then further south at Maple Bay for another week. Going to hit some of the beautiful hikes you've shown in your videos and hopefully bike a few of the converted rail trails, Kinsol Trestle, etc.
wonderful- so many great places to see. Go up to the Mt Washington nordic area for sure if you get a good day. The colours will likely be amazing. Quite do able hiking too. Kinsol trestle is a great piece too. Hope you have a great time.
I'm in awe of these ancient trees and have read many books about them. They communicate with one another through a vast underground fungal (mycelium) network. The mother tree passes her wisdom onto the other trees, plus trees will send out alerts about insects infestations, wildfires, etc. through their vast Wood-Wide Web. The Haida and other First Nation peoples treat the trees with love and respect and only take what they needed for shelter, clothing, baskets, etc. Those memorial poles are still beautiful even as they've weathered and aged, covered in moss. Thanks for sharing! 🌲🌲🦉
Hi Jenny, Yes, I have read about the mycelium network, quite fascinating for sure- the whole system is interconnected and we are a part of it too, Very special and needs to be respected and valued for sure. thanks
Thank you so much for sharing your trip. I recently read a Louise Penny book with this location in it. I really wanted to see it in real life, and you did a great job showing us this beautiful location.
We got a sunny but windy day staying at agate Beach. The sandy beach to Rose Spit is awesome to Ebike for us seniors here. All kinds of people dip net crabbing on the tideline
Wendy thank you so much for this video it was not only beautiful but the history is going to be fun to research. You live in a most serene place and enjoy it as it should be😊nice to see Bob came with ❤I will watch this many times to absorb this beauty. The eagles were incredibly beautiful. The canoes were magnificent....Bye for now 😊😊😊
It was fabulous. you would love it. Just saw your vid re Cape Scott. That trail was always a mess. did it 3 or 4 times in past years. Had hoped it might have been improved! Guess not- still beautiful though
I’m disabled and am lucky to leave the house once a month. Going along on your adventures has been very uplifting to me. Thank you for sharing!

Yes, thank you. money is a big draw . We are working on developing more of a balance in our forest industry. Slow work.
