Hayden did not voice Darth Vader here. He was only in the suit. While Hayden was playing Anakin, he was instructed to talk like Vader. The voice for when Anakin became Darth Vader, I am pretty sure, was James Earl Jones!

Let's remember he tried multiple times as Anakin to stop the creation of super weapons by the Separatists. And the death star is one of their ideas...
When he said that, I felt that. Because at least Vader is somewhat human to a small degree. The Emperor is not human at all. He's like the ultimate hater.

I love how much the lore further contextualizes scenes like this- Vader was genuinely concerned for his son saying anything he could to get Palpatine off his sights and save the last remnants of the love he shared with Padme.

In Lengends, the guy who created the Death Star was killed over and over. Emperor Palpatine would creatively and painfully kill him. The jerk would then have his soul placed in a cloned body.
Yes, Vader meant that with him you get a quick death, but if you displeased the emperor you died slowly and painfully by means of sadistic torture.

Vader's eyes are blue at the end when Luke takes off his helmet indicating that he finally won the internal struggle against the dark side. What a well written ending and an emotional moment.

It was disbelief, I think Vader generally did not consider that to be a possible response from Luke, he was dumbfounded.
I honestly think Anakin felt that more than Vader. Vader was dumbfounded... Anakin was hurt. If we could see Vader's anakin face, we would have seen an almost dropped jaw, sith eyes disappeared for a moment and possibly a hint of a wince of fear for his son.

He was making sure Obi Wan didn't have the high ground.
Remember that the whole plan (from the moment they discovered the ship was inbound) was to place a tracker on it and allow it to escape with Leah. That way, they could track it to the Rebel hideout and destroy the rebellion.
They had to make a good show for the occupants (and a better one for the audience), but Vader didn't want to catch the crew outright.

@Super Bunny But they already explained it in the movie. The reason he didn't go on board is because he had the idea of planting a tracker on the ship so that they could find the rebel base. It's where the myth of Stormtrooper's being bad shots comes from. They're actually amazing shots, but they were ordered to miss.

What I meant was just referring to him as "Darth", one name only. It almost sounds like he's referring to him by his first name. Or, by calling him Darth, recognizing his title. Might sound better if just called him "Vader". In episode II, Obi Wan referred to count Dooku simply as "Dooku".

I've always heard that it was because he considered his voice to be a special effect, not because he thought it wouldn't do well.
george wanted a more cerebral type of sounding vader in ESB; not as much emotion so that his tone in conjunction with his mask make it more difficult for someone to pick up his state at the time.. and also to be more "mysterious" although from an audio standpoint, the dubbing sounds muffled compared to ANH and RoTJ

Star Wars Sound Designer Ben Burtt is the man behind the gravitas of famous James Earl Jones "Darth Vader" voice. He created the iconic sound effects by breathing into a scuba tank regulator. He also created resonance in rooms of various sizes to achieve the effect of the lines being spoken by James Earl Jones in the majesty it deserved to sound like it was spoken inside of a mask.
I absolutely love how he just says : "Yes Captain/ commander whatever" or " yes admiral what is it" like he´s completely tired of it or he just knows he has to listen :D

Mark Legend as much as I like Thanos. Vader still tops him. However something they both have in common is that everything that comes out of their mouth is golden.
I find it interesting how you can hear Vader’s voice get slightly softer (although still Menacing) when he says the iconic “I am your father” and then slightly frustrated when Luke denies it.

He sounds to me like he’s finally letting his true feelings out. He knows that the Emperor is bad, but he’s been beat down for over 20 years. He only joined Palpatine to save his wife and failed. Luke is a connection to that past he once had, that he once enjoyed. He doesn’t even feel that he deserves it because “he” killed her.
