Hayden's performance in this third film was spectacular, we can follow his transformation from Anakin to Darth Vader, we feel his happiness, hate and anger.
After Anakin turns to the dark side, his speech and mannerisms start to resemble that of Darth Vader in the suit. Pay close attention to how he uses his hands to add emphasis when he talks and the intonation of his voice changes to sound more elegant and menacing than when he used to be on the light side.
No one seems to notice this and people always ask "why does darth vader speak so formally compared to his younger years", in rots once he kneels before sidious his personality becomes entirely distinct and he starts speaking in quotes
Honestly Hayden was fantastic. People misunderstood the purpose of the grandiose dialogue which was to suit the style, as well as his intentional trans Atlantic accent. George threw a few trash lines in there but overall it’s so much better than given credit for, especially Hayden. Glad he’s being appreciated these days.
18:25 I love that Palpatine's hands shake when he is found out but he maintains composure to stay confident in manipulating Anakin. Ian McDiarmid is excellent!
I love that detail, I don’t think he’s doing it out of nervousness though. That’s the sleeve his lightsaber is hidden in, so I think he’s getting ready to slip out his lightsaber in case if Anakin decides to strike him down
@@m_ruben I completely forgot how Palpatine equips his lightsaber through his sleeve. That is a good point! He may have been nervous to fight Anakin because let's be honest here, Anakin fights one-handed while spinning and moving around like a madman 😂
He is absolutely gorgeous in this film. I'm glad Lucas went with a good looking actor in this trilogy. No offense to Mark Hamill but he was definitely not eye candy.
Honestly it's perfect the way it is imo, my favourite of the whole lot. I feel like splitting it in 2 parts would drag it on unnecessarily and lose its momentum a bit
They should have cut most of EP1, put the rest of EP1 and EP2 together, and then split this movie into 2 parts, with the first one (now EP2) containing some clone wars stuff to flesh out anakins character. So it would have been like this: EP1 = cut a lot, only includes important stuff and the important things from EP 2 (+ some deleted scenes from EP2 that were actually good, no idea why they were deleted) EP2 = Some small parts from clone wars, summarized, including anakin to flesh out his cahracter, maybe including ashoka, to make his straying further form the jedi order more understandable and have the beginning of EP3 where he is still mostly on the light side EP3 = the rest of EP3 and some more insight into his full turn to the dark side I think the arc of the prequels is pretty much perfect, but there are a lot of things that arent very important (lots of EP1, some of EP2) and a lot of things that should have been expanded on (time between EP2 and EP3, so clone wars; and Anakin and Padmes relationship and Anakins growing dismay of the jedi order). With some better dialogue it could have literally been a perfect trilogy. EP 3 is already great though
That's because they held him back & limited his growth 📈, hence him having delusions about the Jedi & Growing Delusioned with the Jedi Order as a whole.
To me if we take these films as the singular portrayal of Anakin, he was severely underdeveloped in the film prequel trilogy. We never see Anakin "the war hero" or how wise or how powerful he was. All we ever see are his worst qualities. We could have used more battles where he was leading the 501st as a great general and fights where we see his skill with a lightsaber. Instead all we see are most of his negative qualities, his fear, his impatience and his sense of entitlement.
That’s why the clone wars exists, and that’s why Anakin’s character was so hated before the clone wars series aired. Originally Anakin was supposed to be like he was in episode 2-3, very inpatient and Entitled, but the Clone wars expanded and deepened his character a bit, instead of the temper tantrum throwing Anakin.
@@90s-h7l to me part of the problem was he was still with Obi-Wan in the films. Ahsoka being his padawan I think forced the writers of the Clone Wars to mature Anakin's character because now he was responsible for someone else's training and safety. He had become a teacher rather than still being a slightly higher up student like he was in Episode 3.
Both versions of the clone wars cartoon fix this issue ( especially the 2003 series since it leads right into the films) but I agree with u Anakin’s positive traits should’ve been shown off more in the films

Great directing by Lucas in this one (compared to episodes 1 and 2, which were terrible) , as he focused so much more on the acting, mystery and story development.. amazing how they gradually showed Anakin giving into his emotional weaknesses and secret lust for power ... both of which are paths to the dark side
Im sry, but I can't help but laugh out loud when Palpatine says "it's not the first time, Anakin," and then we hear the Tusken Raiders' muted "erhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" playing in Anakin's memory. LOL Still awesome though.
Count Dookie was the hero, he was going to stop Palpatine until Obi-Wan and Anikan saved Darth Sideous. Palpatine became the father figure to lead Anikan to the darkside, Qui-Gon could have lead Anikan to become an amazing Jedi Master. After watching your compilation I see Hayden’s portrayal is exactly how a kid from a single mom home, loses Qui-Gon as a father figure. He loved being a Jedi but hated how they treated him and he loved being married to Padme but he had to hide this from the world his true happiness. Hayden portrayed Anikan perfect, the frustration, anger, sadness, fear, suspicion, confusion and how Anikan wanting to control of his anxieties and stop it all to live a better existence.
Tbh i agree with anakin on being a master. Obi wan was told he was ready when the council decided he was, then when he lost his master and defeated Darth Maul he was made a Master on the council. Anakin also lost Qui-Gon, he far surpassed most jedi masters, grew exponentially powerful up to ROTS, defeated Count Dooku and revealed the notorious sith lord they have been searching for to the council.
