I don't like the white highlights on the sword, maybe they're too thick? But surprised how good the flame is, I didn't expect dark fuming flame to look good on the Emperor's sword, but it does work
I feel your pain painting this as I just finished mine about 2 weeks ago. I followed the GW recommended way of spraying it gold first then painting in the blue panels as that's supposed to be easier. In truth it is still extremely difficult not to mess it up that way as well. After painting this though every model looks so much easier now!
Thanks for the amazing guide. Just started this guy today and following this. Did you have to go over with anymore mcgragge blue after your washed with nightshade?
Oh i got a question too. The clay on which you place the seperate pieces, what is it and where can I get it? And how did you place his body on the small base and get it off again? Im really scared that i brake this
So I am just getting into miniature painting, and am having some difficulty thinning paints to the right consistency. What do you recommend for the right ratio?
Thanks for the comment! In general with normal paint it's 2 parts paint to one part water. I use only a tiny bit with metallics. I also use a wet palette that helps keep the paint hydrated. I'll do a video on how I thin my paint soon so keep an eye out One other tip is to make sure you don't have too much paint on your brush
It's a zenithal prime that, on reflection you don't really need - I like it here as it makes coverage a bit easier. Generally you would prime like this to identify where the light falls and where your highlights would be
Cool thank you mate! Last question 😬, you say there’s a link to how you painted the base but I can’t seem to find that video. Have you got a link to it?
Yo - just getting into painting after a looooooong hiatus. Great video, I've got this dude ready as my next project. I use GW brushes but I can never keep them on point, what brushes do you use/recommend? Thanks

Fantastic
Thank you!
amazing job... i wish i was that good at using a paintbrush... i am rather rough and unskilled with it ..
do you have an etsy store ?
Thanks glad you liked it! I don't have an etsy store- I occasionally put stuff on ebay though 👍🏻
thanks for the reply

I don't like the white highlights on the sword, maybe they're too thick? But surprised how good the flame is, I didn't expect dark fuming flame to look good on the Emperor's sword, but it does work
I feel your pain painting this as I just finished mine about 2 weeks ago. I followed the GW recommended way of spraying it gold first then painting in the blue panels as that's supposed to be easier. In truth it is still extremely difficult not to mess it up that way as well. After painting this though every model looks so much easier now!
True enough - i saw the GW stuff and I didn't think it would be easier - the important thing is that we made it haha
any chance we can get an Emperor's Spears tutorial?
Thanks for the comment Dan - no promises - i'll add them to the list though!
Hi! I cannot find the link that how could you paint the base...
Can you link it or describe it?
Thanks for the amazing guide. Just started this guy today and following this. Did you have to go over with anymore mcgragge blue after your washed with nightshade?
Thanks Mark! I honestly can't remember, but gut says I did in places!
Can I buy Guilliman on the internet? If so, do you know where to?
Yeah should be able to get him from most suppliers like GE direct
Oh i got a question too. The clay on which you place the seperate pieces, what is it and where can I get it? And how did you place his body on the small base and get it off again? Im really scared that i brake this
It's modelling putty - you should be able to get it ar hobby stores or amazon - mine came with the redgrass games handle
Thank you very much again
No problem!
Sorry to bother you again, but would it change the effect if I used Nuln Oil instead of Drakenhof Nightshade for the blue armor?
No problem - only slightly - might be a bit darker
did you use a zenithal prime on the armor with the white or all over?
Thanks for the comment - I used white on the sword to make it easier to paint - and some splashed onto the armour
Great! Thanks for reminding me about mine ... 😓
Hey at least you can follow a painting guide now haha
So I am just getting into miniature painting, and am having some difficulty thinning paints to the right consistency. What do you recommend for the right ratio?
I would like this info aswell
Thanks for the comment! In general with normal paint it's 2 parts paint to one part water. I use only a tiny bit with metallics.
I also use a wet palette that helps keep the paint hydrated. I'll do a video on how I thin my paint soon so keep an eye out
One other tip is to make sure you don't have too much paint on your brush
The Painting Coach thank you so much! Wow I didn’t expect you would respond so quickly, thanks a million!
No problem - happy to help!
Just wanted to ask,do you use contrast medium when you paint the contrast paints on this model?
No I used them straight from the pot on this model
Hey mate, just wondering, why the several colours of spray? As in, why black then white?
It's a zenithal prime that, on reflection you don't really need - I like it here as it makes coverage a bit easier.
Generally you would prime like this to identify where the light falls and where your highlights would be
Ah ok thanks for the explanation! And also, did you not use macragge spray so you could demonstrate painting with macragge instead?
Yes pretty much 👍🏻
Cool thank you mate! Last question 😬, you say there’s a link to how you painted the base but I can’t seem to find that video. Have you got a link to it?
th-cam.com/video/Ftd_KACLK40/w-d-xo.html this one maybe
how did you pick out the eyes?
Thanks for the comment - a thin line of white and a dot of black with a 00 brush
The Painting Coach thank you
No problem!
this is amazing !!!!!
Cheers!
How many hours does something like this take to complete at such a high level?
This was probably 8-10 hrs painting - but a lot of that is down to the intricacies etc of all the gold
@@ThePaintingCoach Sounds good. I'm generally fond of these almost cathartic intricately detailed hobbies. Thanks for the reply!
No problem!
Yo - just getting into painting after a looooooong hiatus. Great video, I've got this dude ready as my next project. I use GW brushes but I can never keep them on point, what brushes do you use/recommend? Thanks
Welcome back to the hobby! I use Winsor and Newton series 7, size 1 and 0 - I think there is a link in the description - i use a red grass games synthetic brush for metals
Good luck with the project!
@@ThePaintingCoach Legend, thankyou x
Mr. Painting Coach Sir, do you think it would work if I used Leadbelcher instead of Iron Hands Steel?
Yes absolutely no issue :)
