@@eBayMiniatureRescues casey painting a NEW SPACE MARINE ARMY IN JUST 24 HOURS video confirmed? ;) Love the podcast and painting bravely as I just painted a banner dude this weekend, cheers
I got really burned out with painting Sororitas and their thousands of tiny bits. I was like "I just want to paint a guy with a gun" So I started a Imperial Guard army.
I bought a 3 mini assault intercessor starter kit from my local shop around 5 weeks ago, I finished them, and almost immediately I was ready to go and buy more. Now I'm here with 10 primaries intercessors and more paint, brushes, and a new table lamp. This hobby is incredibly satisfying and addicting
Great video Casey! I had a laugh when I heard you say "Nah, cut that" when talking about the heat dissipating from the sword! Always fun to see behind the curtain!
6:17 "the flames aren't as hot on the edges" Well actually, flames are hottest at the tips. That's why when you turn on the stove, the tips of the flames are blue. That's the hottest part!
i was impressed by the type of Brushes this person used obviously theres finer thinner for such details but he did not use these types m i am wowee great work with these brushes 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏼🤓🎨🖌
One of the biggest "level up" moments in my painting journey was when I started using larger brushes with very pointy tips. They hold more paint and you still have that small brush control. Definitely worth trying :)
I’ve been getting into kit merging. I don’t have anyway to play in the first place, so I mostly paint just for me. My favorite I’ve made was a tau with a space wolves head and I chopped off a hand to put one holding an arrow from a goblins set on it. Painted him blue and made his Mohawk red, got myself a little yondu
i currently have a XV88 Broadside for my Tau Army still in box, Ghaz for my Orks still untouched, and then i bought the Votann Starter Set because i love Dwarves, so i only just built Uthar The Destined, so lots left in that box. Trying to keep on top of things before i get more...but i called my LGS and had them order me the September Killteam box Into the Dark, and told him to go ahead and order me the next one that just went on preorder last weekend. So I've got a lot of plastic inbound, so gonna try and get the bulk of the Dwarves done this weekend i think, and if i get bored of that I might do the Broadside.
Yup same here, I'm getting about 4k of sylvaneth ready to prime and base with my airbrush atm, decided while Im doing it I'll finish up my stormcast as well as some stand alone figures like my grey knights nemesis, deff dread, daemon prince, fomoroid crusher and some others. Need some stuff thats a sod I wanna make a random model paint scheme and get a pallette cleaner in the mix.
I watch ur videos as I used to paint them about 20 years ago and enjoy the process and seeing the minatures. I’m a photographer now and couldn’t agree more with ur message in this video. I have countless projects on the go, but each month I make time to do something “fun” for me. At the moment this is toy photography, and it does refresh u for the coming month’s things that need to be done. Many thanks and well done on a great channel from a fan, but non-painter. 👍👍👍
Absolutely AMAZING paint job on him. I have to get G-Man at some point for my army, and have been intimidated at the thought of painting him but seeing you go through the steps makes it seem much less daunting, and way more approachable!
Outstanding. I really agree that the pigment on the base into the bottom of the armor is incredible. I definitely also agree with needing to do a "palate cleanser" every now and again.
Your intro about diverging to a fun project to rekindle the inspiration for the large project is exactly what I've been doing with 3d printing. Thank you. I needed this. I've been getting frustrated with designing an acoustic chamber for a Subwoofer and mid range speaker to mount in the middle of my electric cross country mountainboard that I need to stop and make small things totally different to cheer myself up, like magnetic shoe clips and a facemask that looks cool
I’ve been painting up two Start collecting: Choas Space marines box sets recently, and when I hit the trim I knew I needed to do something else. So I’ve got all the trim base coated and I’m cracking open some bloodcrushers to build for a bit, then I’ll get back to my marines, then when I get tired of doing the marines again I’ll paint up my blood crushers. When people are starting out they don’t realise how releasing it can be to do something else in short bursts just to give you that shot of energy, and this video deserves more attention for that alone. Also, beautiful marine. A bit too loyalist for my liking… but then again he did make a second imperium. Sounds pretty heretical to me?
I just spent a whole week doing this. I dug through my box of minis and picked out a few that I thought would just be fun. I paint exclusively for DnD so I'm usually painting whatever monsters I have planned for the next few weeks. So it's nice to just paint some heroes that I don't even plan on using.
Isn't that actually Tamiya panel liner you were using for the black lining? When you spray the gloss and matte varnishes, do you thin them in the airbrush at all or not, and how many layers do you generally use? I've Vallejo varnishes on hand to that end, for oil washes--and also, how long to let the wash sit before sponging the excess away? When I'm on eBay, scoping miniature purchases? Honestly, how cool they look and how fun to paint they'd be are my main criteria for painting anything! :)
Hey - I really like the positivity you bring with your videos! Also I’m an ultra marine fan so this is the one that made me subscribe:) Keep up the great work!
I make my own. If you get a few of the more expensive oil paints and some odorless mineral spirits then you can just mix a little pea sized drop of oil paints and get a nice wash. The cheap oil paints don’t break down well enough for most things, so that’s the need for better ones. Otherwise, check out tamiya panel liners, those are probably the best store bought oil washes out there.
Bobby G has been the most difficult model I have been painting. I have taken to just painting one part a week as there is so much detail on everything.
He's a tough one for sure, lots to paint! I think you have the right idea though, break it up and take your time. I'm sure you'll be rewarded for that effort too :)
I feel like there is aloot of leftover wash in some parts, especially his lower chest and basically any area your sponge was too large for. So you got almost black areas but with bright gold right next to it, makes it look like you couldnt decide if you wanted shadows or not. overall pretty nice tho, especially the pigments!
I always work on what I'm in the mood to paint. It really helps keep away burnout. Once i start worrying about what needs to be done it starts to feel too much like work and less like a hobby.
Haha.. I just painted an ultramarine lieutenant as a palette cleanser from some nurgled marines. This gets released the same day as I paint that marine.. coincidence? I think not.
Just watched this video and have recently got a ultrasonic cleaner myself what did you use in it that made the paint come off so easily and how long did it take?
01:33 I spy 'The Maw'. I got that, model from MMF, and a couple of other things from the same artist. I modded it into a voracious mushroom. It's an awesome time to be into this stuff.
If you do end up wanting the helmless head, I've got it as a leftover. Well technically I originally wanted to have the head swapable, but after finishing the rest of the model with helmet I don't really feel like I need to paint up the bare head.
I have two armies that need repainting, but I'm taking time off to print and paint Redpilgrim's Desert Hawks. I don't collect IG and don't plan to use them, but models look super cool and I want to. Also want to try Agrax Earthshade magic.
That gold your using looks super grainy and shitty to paint. I got 2 different gold pigment powders from Green Stuff World for my Guilliman and mixed it with Vallejo Metal Varnish as per Vince Ventuella's video. Goes on like a dream with great coverage. Also it's the shiniest most realistic gold known to man. I tried making up a bottle of the gold pigments and metal varnish in a dropper bottle. Which worked for the project over several days or a week. After 6 months or a year though since I made that bottle up, the mixtures is trash. The pigments look like they are rusting in the dropper and they are all clumped together at the bottom of the bottle. No amount of shaking has been able to remix the bottle.
This is how it starts "just one space marine" and before you know it youre painting a venerable dreadnought
*cries in space marine* I CAN STOP ANYTIME!?
I feel personally attacked
Not gonna lie, I have so many space marines, and a plan…..

for a moment I read "vulnerable dreadnought". I giggled a little

Robot Girlyman

I'm heavy into winter depression right now. Haven't painted in weeks. But Your videos are helping me feel like I'm not out of the game. Thank you.
I see that mega-gargant I need to get painted....that's one big model...
Gonna look so good though :)

Great video Casey! I had a laugh when I heard you say "Nah, cut that" when talking about the heat dissipating from the sword! Always fun to see behind the curtain!
Like magic show, impressive.
Casey, you are my favorite person to watch paint lately, so down to earth and fun.
Keep it up.
i like what you said in this video at the start and anyone can take that and use it towards anything, lifes about fun so live it
Rowboat Guile-Man is probably the best character outside of Ork Warbosses/nobs GW ever made. It's so epic.
"Robot Girlyman" be lookin' mighty fine brother. Keep up the good work.
Got very excited to see my Silver Templars pop up. It's really surreal 😂😂
"BUT I GOT IT!" That is my mantra !
I painted my with metallic with near white on a shoulder and then I use some contract yellow. Then I paint the blue parts.
massive improvement!
Beautiful end result. Thanks for sharing your journey of this model from start to finish.

Wow great timing on this video. I received this model as a gift a few years ago and have been putting it off. Just need to take the plunge.
I haven't painted in years. I need to bust out my kits and get some new paint. This video has inspired me.
Welcome back to the hobby!!
going from glossy to matte is the biggest jump here, great work!
He there was mine Guilliman in your search 😅 cool 😎 keep rescuing.
I am geting a mortarion in a couple of days. Can't wait to paint it.
Love that model! So many good options :)
I always prefer models to have their helmets on if possible. It just makes sense to me. Gotta protect the head and it makes them look cooler.
So much so, I wanna swap Chief Librarian Tigerius' head with that of a helmeted Primaris Librarian.
I have painted the one marine. As base decoration for my Knight with a lot of blood involved. Nice Video!

What kind of oil wash and oil remover do you use?
Tamiya panel liner ( which is an enamel based wash) and odorless mineral spirits to remove it, works like a charm!
