I agree muffler delete sounds louder but the damn drone drives you insane. I bought my E 39 from an owner that did the muffler delete on the drone at highway speed just gave me a headache. So I installed Eiserman race exhaust and X Diablo pipes! It is definitely quieter than muffler delete but the sound is much richer when revved rather than simply being loud! Muffler delete is a great cheap way to get your car loud but hard to live with! Great video and thanks for demonstration!
My e46 M3 definitely had drone when it had an Active Autoworks exhaust, but the M5 with the muffler delete certainly does not at all- that is likely related to your resonator
I did a properly set up muffler delete on mine with stock resonators intact and I have no drone at all can’t even hear the exaust unless you get on the gas

You must have the worlds most sensitive ears if a muffler delete was too much drone for you.
I want that set up. Muffler delete has been nice but I am ready for a more refined sound. Quiet when you’re cruising and loud when you want it!
I inherited my M5 with muffler delete and feel the same way - way too much drone and headaches. It’s too loud. Dinan rear cans next.

@washed up ya. But 90s BMW engines (especially the V8s) have a Diesel like idle. Very noisy.
