    My last RC car was a Traxxas cat from way back in 1987. I wish I still had it. I have been getting back in to RC again lately because I started getting a lot of HengLong RC tanks and decided I would get back in to cars and trucks. I recently bought an older Hot Bodies Lightning 1/8 nitro buggy but wanted to get another electric. After doing some research and having not driven the nitro yet, I wanted to get another electric so having remembered how fun I had with the cat, went for this one. I am glad I did. I think the awd vxl would be a good move for ease of use because of the tsm. Use a 2s nimh battery on training mode for a low power then once you are ready, move to a higher power 3s lipo and even on training mode, the truck still rips

    Great video , I’ve just done a lcg chassis swap on my slash 4x4 and it was nice and easy to do so I might swap my slash 2wd to a lcg chassis next , it made a lot of difference on the 4x4 when cornering at speed far less roll overs so the lcg chassis was well worth the money and time to swap it over , keep the videos coming mate ...

    Nice detailed presentation of this LCG chassis mod. Been considering it for mine, though I'm not sure it's appropriate for my needs. I think my use warrants ground clearance over stability and all out speed, but it's definitely nice to see the whole process to swap out. Can't wait to see the drive testing with the LCG. Thanks Nolan.

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem man! 😉
      I didn’t really find the belly clearance helping very much. I feel like with the 2wd it gets stuck pretty quick regardless of the chassis. I guess I am comparing it to the 4x4 models which isn’t really a fair comparison.

    • @mattfoster1684
      @mattfoster1684 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCKnockout Yeah, beyond playing with gearing a bit, my next mods are likely to be that hack I shared with you to shorten the full extension of the shocks (little piece of fuel line on the piston, inside the shock so it can't extend fully), and heavier oil in the shocks as a method to quell that "body roll", which is quite bad and only gets worse as it goes faster.

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mattfoster1684 nice man! It should perform a lot better then! I thought about doing that myself. I didn’t realize the fuel line goes on the inside of the shock though? I thought it was just supposed to rest on the shock perch and sit around the shock shaft?

    • @mattfoster1684
      @mattfoster1684 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCKnockout Yeah, he actually puts a small piece on the shaft but inside the bore of the shock with the oil, so it requires complete disassembly of each shock, which is a wee bit arduous. Basically acts as a stopper for the piston so it can't fully extend. Net effect is likely somewhat similar to the LCG shock modifications, lowers the ride height overall.

Everything else is worthless unless it's a shelf queen. Already been through this. Tried all aluminum turnbuckles on my last slash raptor and it made the entire front end sag and it was terrible.
