“The CHEAPEST Traxxas Slash” Project!! FIRST TEST of The NEW BRUSHLESS Power System!! It’s AWESOME!!

  • In this video I test out my Traxxas Slash 2wd that I dubbed “the Cheapest Traxxas Slash” project for the first time after installing a brushless system. I put in the vxl3s esc and Traxxas 3500kv velineon motor. I test out the balance and handling of the new lcg chassis. I also test out the top speed using a gps recorder. I then test out the jumping and general bash ability of the rig!

    The shock mod really helps. I shimed my shock shaft's with nitro hose. 3/4 inch pieces all around, sets the body down for a nice look. Stiffens the shocks for more control. Mine eather spins out, or turns. Can't get it to flip! Has 1 inch clearance, with hcg chassis. Custom the hose to your preferred ride hight. Plenty of vids on youtube with directions. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you Nolan and all the guys who have commented. I have been looking for my first real vehicle, I currently own an older Electrix Ruckus and I have been reading all of the comments for all of the problem solving ideas. I have watched these videos in particular because I almost bought the basic Slash last weekend because there is a club I was going to join with an indoor and outdoor track and you can’t run a brushless motor on the indoor track.
    Nolan how much would you say these upgrades cost you and it seems and you tell me from your experience that it’s cheaper to just start with the 4wd and go from there or is there a 4wd with most of the upgrades RTR. If I join this place what slash or truck be it Arrma or Losi can I get that’s brush but is still a decent performer, better than the basic Slash. It seems like Arrma gives you much more for the money. Thank you and you have saved people in my situation a ton of cash and time, $189.00 is a bait and switch if real fun is your end game here!!!

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arrma does have some rc cars with lower prices but diffs and replacement parts are way more expensive than Traxxas parts. We’re taking 2x as much money. I don’t have any experience with the cheaper Arrma vehicles. The price of parts has been the main deterrent for me. Personally the Traxxas Slash 4x4 VXL Brushless is the best bang for the buck vehicle on the market. You can get one for around $400

    I currently have three slashes one on 6s with 120a esc and 4200kv 3660 motor and my other two I run 4s. It’s kinda overkill but the lipo last a long time cause I`m not wide open all the time plus I keep an eye on the temp of the motor and run a conservative gear. The 3660 motor runs at 125 degrees and the 3650 motor will climb up to 180 degrees if i`m not careful

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! What type of top speeds are you getting with those setups?

    • @Jasonkartracing
      @Jasonkartracing 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the 3900kv 3660 motor on 4s is in the 70’s mph range with 19/86 gearing. It’s about the same with the 4200kv 3650 motor with 18/90 gearing. My 6s setup is for drag racing it will hit close to 90. Of course all these numbers could go up with gearing changes. I keep it conservative for engine temps if I ran taller gears I could risk burning up a motor. I try and keep them under 190 degrees.

  • @onefastnitro
    @onefastnitro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All plastics get brittle at cold temperatures even certain steels get brittle at cold temperatures as well. Your ramp is not set up for jumps with rc’s in mind you need a ramp with a sweeping entrance. Yours is instantly angled sharply causing the rc truck to smash into the ramp causing it to exit a jump awkwardly . Also your existing your jump at full throttle In The air, lay of the throttle a little. That will cause the truck to level out in the air. Quick question are you intending to bash this truck? If so your low center of gravity chassis is inadequate for that purpose. Your high center of gravity chassis is more suited for bashing because it has more ride height. your low center of gravity chassis is better suited for racing not bashing. Also your title for this build project needs to be how much will this rc truck make me spend on it as I keep replacing parts and adding “upgrades “ as people call them these days. I say this because it sounds like this is starting to be an expensive build not a “cheap build”. Good video by the way I’ll keep watching to see how much your cheap build really cost.😃👍

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the advice! As for the ramps....that’s what I have so that’s what I’m gonna use. I probably should try laying off the throttle but I doubt that will have much effect on it nose diving..I do intend to bash it how with the lcg chassis. As for the title “The Cheapest Traxxas Slash Project. You may have misinterpreted the title or maybe you aren’t familiar with this series? This is the cheapest slash you can buy. I tested stock to get my thought and from there i decided to build it up. The goal isn’t to keep it cheap even though the title might somewhat suggest that. Thanks for watching 😉
