    Just want to leave a HUGE thank you to Melanie's family for leaving all of her wonderful videos up for us followers to continue to reference! This ripple blanket was the first project I ever completed as a novice crocheter. This would've never been accomplished without Melanie's careful explanation & bright spirit!! She was truly, truly inspiring! She lives on through the beautiful things she created and I am thankful I am still able to learn from her. She will be forever missed.💕

    When I have to count a lot of stitches, I use locking stitch markers ever 25 stitches so that if (when lol) I lose count, I only have to count my 25s or since my last marker. You could also use safety pins.

    • @beccacoleman498
      @beccacoleman498 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'd definitely have to use markers as intervals, otherwise I'd spend alot of time counting and unraveling, then just end up giving up in the whole project.

    • @RedeemedbHim
      @RedeemedbHim 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did use but I really can't see what I did wrong. Started all over and had one stitch left, but I did not end up with 5 Double Crochet stitches but with a decrease. I decided am going to keep it that way. Doing a big blanket and didn't know what the end of first row gonna look like or end with.

    Hi Melanie 😃
    Just taking a moment to say thank you! I only watch a few TH-cam contributor’s tutorials. One of my first crochet projects that were good enough to gift to someone were products of your basket tutorials. The recipients were very happy to have more original organisation vessels. Thank you!
    You explain the processes, the why’s, the alternatives so beautifully and I feel as though you give us so much of your patience and time and skills. I cannot thank you enough for making it look so easy... which gave me the confidence to try things I found daunting. Very simply, thank you for being you! I love this ripple blanket and look forward to creating a few, as gifts. One of these days, I’ll actually, keep one of my crochet projects for myself. 😂 keep being awesome, please!

    You explained each step very well, the edging is perfect, the biggest difficulty with crochet is knowing where the very edges of your work are. I kind of like the hanging bits on the blanket you did about 10 years ago, adds whimsy. Thanks Melanie.

    So I know you did this video two years ago but I love it, the only thing I changed was instead of chaining up three at the ends I did a a chain 2 and used stitch markers at the ends. This ended up not creating that little gap you get between your chain 3 and first double crochet. I use the stitch markers at the ends just to make sure I don't forget the two double crochets at the end.

    I have always wanted to make this blanket but I never got around to it. I have decided that I will now. Sadly, Melanie will never see it. She was the first TH-camr I encountered when I got back inti crochet. Crochet was like therapy to me since I had lost my dad in August of 2021. I’m just devastated to hear about her passing. RIP Melanie and thank you. You will be missed

    If you use stitch markers at every 16th stitch, you should have your second 2dc in the stitch that has a marker. If you follow this you will have your extra stitch at the end.
    So the first row would look like this:
    (Plus three stitches) Dc,
    Dc in next 5 stitches(1-5), 2dctog (6,7), 2dctog (8,9), dc in next 5 stitches (14), 2dc (15), 2dc (16-STITCH MARKER)

    Hi Melanie, thanks a lot for this tutorial, i found it very interesting and your method of teaching is so simple and easy to understand too.
    I followed your tutorial and have crocheted a quite large ripple blanket for daughter who just moved in her home but now I want to put a border on this ripple blanket but have no clue at all.
    Help please, appreciate a lot. Thanks 😊😍👍👍🙏🏻
